Seek out Huginn in Midgard
At the start of the quest, head over and go through the Mystic Gateway to automatically head back to Midgard. There won’t be any Hel-Walkers hanging around this time, so just head into the house to find Huginn and head to Asgard.
Speak with the All-Father
You’ll arrive back in Atreus’ room in the lodge. You can use the wardrobe if you need to upgrade items, then head over to Odin’s study.
Find Thor
You’ll need to find Thor to have him come to Niflheim. You can look around a bit if you want, but to actually find him you need to walk around to the front of the lodge by the table to find Thrud.
Follow Thrud outside and she’ll lead you to the first building on the left.
Follow her through the crowd inside until you meet with Thor. After a short talk, you’ll be in a large brawl with the Einherjar inside the building. You won’t have your arrows for most of this area, so you have to settle for your melee and what help the other characters sometimes provide. Just keep moving around the area as you defeat the enemies.
After getting launched upstairs and defeating the group of enemies you’ll get your arrows back, then can shoot at the enemies and items on the ground floor until this sequence is finished.
Actually find the final Mask Fragment
Now in Niflheim, you’ll have one final mask searching section. You can pull out the mask to spot the path ahead you have to go down, but first, you can run in the opposite direction to find a path leading to a Materials Chest containing 3 x Asgardian Ingot and 12 x Dwarven Steel.
Follow the path ahead and deal with the groups of Hel-Walkers in your way. When you deal with the second group in the open area, pull out the mask and point it at the short wall ahead to have Thor break through it.
Keep following the path and dealing with the enemies along the way. Once you reach the next dead-end room you’ll have to pull out the mask and point it at the wall ahead.
Once you enter the caves area there will be a spot with two paths, one leading left and a grapple leading to the right. Take the left path first where you can find a Legendary Chest containing the Bitter Squirrel Runic Summon.
Take the grapple across and keep following the path down through the caves until you exit back outside.
Frost Ancient
This Frost Ancient is basically the same as the Forest Ancient you fight earlier in the story, or the Soul Eaters you fight in some favors, except this time you won’t have the strength of Kratos to deal with it. You will need to attack the core when it is exposed to both deal damage and increase the stagger bar. Unlike with Kratos, the Ancient won’t spit out explosive cores to throw back, so you will need to use your arrows and companion abilities to bring it down.
Use Sonic Arrows instead of Runic Arrows, as these will do both damage and stagger, whereas the latter will only deal stagger. When the stagger bar fills, it will collapse and you can attack it with , which will reset the stagger. It will stay down for a few seconds more, so use your special attacks here for extra damage. A good method is to use Ingrid’s attacks when it is down and the stagger bar has reset, as using these attacks can completely fill the bar before it even stands up, allowing you to stagger it a second time immediately. Ignore the Hel-Walkers until after the Frost Ancient is defeated, as they will respawn infinitely. Once you defeat the Ancient, kill the remaining Hel-Walkers to finish the battle.
Once all the enemies are dealt with you can pull out the mask again and make your way to the wall.
Thor doesn’t feel like listening yet though and destroys the wall to the right instead. You can follow the path all the way down to the bottom to find a Materials Chest that contains 2 x Asgardian Ingot and 12 x Dwarven Steel.
Climb back up and aim the mask at the wall again to have Thor break the correct one this time, then follow the path ahead and he’ll hop up to the next area. Drop off the ledge to enter the Mist Fields, which is an area you can return to later as Kratos (hence the gravestone you can spot to the right).
Follow the path all the way to the left, dealing with the enemies as they appear. Once you reach the end of the area you can pull out the mask and point it towards the statue in the distance to find the last piece. (If you’re not able to pull out the mask, make sure there aren’t any enemies stuck behind you).
Return to Sindri’s when ready
After the scenes, you’ll switch back to playing as Kratos and reach Sindri’s house. The characters prompt you that you can take some time to do side activities if you would like, or head into Sindri’s to continue the story. If you don’t decide to do side stuff right now you’ll be locked into story Events for a bit, basically until the start of the final story quest.
Consider Tyr’s plan
After the characters finish talking, you can interact with the mask on the table to continue.
Leave…
After the scenes in the house area complete, head over to the Mystic Gateway and interact with it to head to Midgard.
This finishes Unlocking the Mask in God of War Ragnarok.
