The Burning Skies is a Favor (Side Quest) for Kratos in God of War Ragnarok. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the The Burning Skies Side Quest. For an overview of all quests in the game see God of War Ragnarok All Favors.

Starting Location: The Burning Skies
The Burning Skies is started automatically after encountering the dragon found in The Sinkholes in Vanaheim and destroying the two pillars.
Find a way to the dragon’s lair
Before you are able to make your way to the dragon’s lair, you will first need to get the water flowing through the river again, which is done by completing the Return of the River favor. Once that is done, board the boat at The Sinkholes Mystic Gate.
Row through to where the favor started and dock the boat near the Celestial Altar. Open the gate, then return to the boat.
Row through to the next beach, where you will be able to open a gate to continue forward.
Defeat the Ash Tyrant
Kill the Draugrs, then throw your Spear at the weakspots in the rock, while using the nooks to avoid the dragon’s fire.
Continue through to a ledge where you can bait the dragon’s fire, then climb up to find another weakspot you can break with your Spear to collapse the wall.
Climb up and before you can open the Nornir Chest, you will encounter a surprise boss, The Untamed Fury. This isn’t a full boss fight, as she will disappear after hurting it a few times. Once it flees, throw your spear at the three totems in the area to open the Nornir Chest.
Climb the wall for the real boss fight with the Ash Tyrant.
The Ash Tyrant is a white dragon that uses a variety of close range attacks as well as fire attacks. This dragon is quite unique compared to the other dragons you fight, as the mechanics are quite different. It will do some melee attacks, but for the most part it will attack with fire. When the dragon attempts to breathe fire, a weakspot will appear on its neck, which when attacked with the Spear or Axe, will stun the dragon momentarily allowing you to deal heavy damage.
At two intervals throughout the fight, the dragon will fly off and land on one of the pillars in the area, spawning Draugr and Wyverns. You will need to defeat all these mob enemies (of have them killed by the dragon’s fire attacks), at which point you will be able to destroy the pillar the dragon is on. Occasionally the dragon will fly up and slam down, but you cannot bring it crashing down like the other dragons. As long as you focus on dodging the fire and not getting overwhelmed by Draugrs/Wyverns when they spawn, this dragon shouldn’t pose too much of a problem.
Once you get the dragon’s health bar completely down, you will have a few QTEs to finish it off.

it’s bugged for me. i go up to the lair and they announce the dragon is coming but it never spawns. seems i can’t get the trophy as of now.
This happened to me, but i reloaded to the nearest autosave and it spawned
