How to reach Jarnsmida Pitmines after Story:
First, it’s recommended you follow The Applecore Collectible Guide, by following it you will automatically end up in Jarnsmida Pitmines at the end. Quick recap: after story, fast travel to Svartalfheim > Aurvangar Wetlands. To the left of the Mystic Gateway take the Ferry to Sverd Sands, there you find an elevator that leads to The Applecore. Then go through The Applecore to get back to Jarnsmida Pitmines. You cannot 100% complete this region until after the story, due to Remnants of Asgard ‘collectibles’ not spawning before then. So backtracking is mandatory, no way to complete this on your first story visit.
#1 – Berserker Gravestone (Hind of the Nine Realms – Spear Handle)
After coming from The Applecore, when you exit the tunnel and reach the outside, the Berserker Gravestone will be in front of you. To interact with it you need a story item “Inert Hilt of Skofnung” which is automatically obtained in Mission 9: The Word of Fate. This spawns two bosses “Bodvar the Frierce” & “Starolfr the Troublesome”, which is a pretty tough fight. You should be at least Gear Level 7 and change the difficulty to the lowest setting in the gameplay options. Having Gear Level 8 or 9 will make it significantly easier, so come back to it later if you find it too hard. Focus on the Assassin enemy first, unleash your most powerful Runic Attacks with all 3 weapons and when your health drops use Spartan Rage which deals damage and recharges your health simultaneously. Also make sure you crafted a Resurrection Stone at the blacksmith shop (under Special Item), to self-revive if you go down. If you die, you will have the Resurrection Stone back in your inventory when you respawn. The second boss has much more health, but after the Assassin boss is dead you can focus on him exclusively. Dodge right when he attacks, after he misses an attack do some quick spear strikes while smashing to shoot Sonic Arrows at him.
#2 – Artifact (Kvasir’s Poems – Tool and Bang)
Go left of the Berserker Gravestone, use your blades to pull the waterway towards you (see 2nd image below). This reroutes the water to power the crane, wait a few seconds for the crane to lift a big stone block to you. Climb the stone block, then throw your axe at the end of the waterway to freeze the water (3rd image below). This will turn off the crane and it rotates back, stay on top of the stone block. At the end you can hang down the stone block and jump over to the hill behind the crane. An Artifact and Legendary Chest are here.
#3 – Legendary Chest (Pommels of the Undying Spark – Blades Attachment)
Same place as the above Artifact.
#4 – Odin’s Raven
Retrace your steps to where you hopped in the crane’s stone block. This time, drop down at the end of the path. You can throw your spear at a wall with wind coming out of it. This creates a path to jump over. Then you can see the raven flying in circles above the water in the middle of the area. Throw an axe at it when it flies by. It’s best to keep the cursor aimed at one point where it will always fly by, instead of moving it around. Let the raven fly into your cursor, throw the axe just a little bit beforehand.
#5 – Nornir Chest
Follow the path left of the Raven (don’t slide down the rope across the water yet). At the end of the path is the Nornir chest. You must burn 3 braziers with runes on them. You do this by selecting the Chaos Blades and pressing + . The first is directly left of the chest. The second requires you to drop down to the left, then use a grappling hook to jump over to the 2nd brazier. From the 2nd brazier jump back via the grappling hook, then the third brazier is under the moving water wheel. You must freeze the water in the channel above by throwing an axe at it, then you can light the brazier. Return to the chest when all 3 are lit simultaneously, it can now be opened.
#6 – Lore (Rune Read – The Pit-Mine)
Where brazier #2 was for the Nornir Chest, to its left, on the wall.
#7 – Artifact (Things Left Behind – Lofnheid’s Whetstone)
While standing in front of the Nornir Chest, jump over the gap to the right, drop down a little ledge, then immediately turn left to see a rope. Interact with it ( ), then slide down the rope (requires Spear, automatic story unlock). After the rope slide you land at a beach, the Artifact is on the ground, glowing purple. You can also burn the red vines here, shoot a purple arrow at them and then use Chaos Blades to light them up, they reveal a hidden Mystic Gateway.
#8 – Remnants of Asgard
From the Artifact climb up the golden chain. Then kill all Asgard enemies. They only spawn after having finished the main story. You must backtrack for it after the story. After defeating them all you get a popup in the top left corner to confirm it counts as complete. Also open the red Remnant Reward Chest here for materials and Hacksilver.
That’s 100% of the collectibles you can find in Jarnsmida Pitmines area in God of War Ragnarok.
