God of War has 12 Treasure Map Locations and Dig Sites. Using all treasure maps to find the dig spots is needed for the Treasure Hunter trophy. None of them are missable, you can still get the treasures and maps after the story in free roam.
The guide below shows all them and can be collected in any order. If you can’t reach one of these spots you must progress further in the story. It’s best to collect everything after beating the game. They give a lot of hacksilver (money) and rare crafting materials!

The Turtle’s Tribute
Treasure Map Location (0:05 in Video):
Found in Region “The River Pass” in the Witch’s Cave, in front of the hidden chamber entrance. You must have unlocked blue (light) and yellow (electric) arrows for Atreus – so it’s not available until very late in the game. From the Mystic Gateway “Witch’s Cave Lower Level” take the elevator up to the main cave. Have Atreus shoot blue arrows at the crystals under the platforms to create bridges of light. Then walk over them. In the back of the cave (after passing the sealed Nornir Chest) there’s some red tree sap that you must blow up. There’s a red explosive ball next to the Nornir chest, just throw it at the tree sap and shoot electric arrows at it to blow it up. Behind this red tree sap is the treasure scroll. This is right in front of the hidden chamber entrance.
Dig Spot:
Also in Region “The River Pass”, same area where the map was found. Backtrack to the start of the witch cave, at the top of the elevator. There’s some more red tree sap behind the elevator that you can blow up with electric arrows. Then you can climb up the well to get outside, to the Witch’s turtle house where you went earlier in the story. The dig spot is by some stones facing the turtle house.
Rewards:
- 1 Rare Enchantment
- 1 Oblivion Stone
- 5 Soft Svartalfheim Steel
- 5000 Hacksilver
Dead and Bloated
Treasure Map Location (2:06 in Video):
Found in Region “Volunder Mines”. To access this area you need Brok’s favor (side quest) called “Second Hand Soul”. It’s the first favor for him, just talk to him at any of his shops after making enough story progress. The map is actually on the main path of the Second Hand Soul side quest, which will lead you through the entire Volunder Mines. So in other words, you walk straight into it. The treasure scroll is next to a red chest, in the middle section of the mines, in the room that leads to the Soul Eater quest-boss.
Dig Spot:
In Region “Cliffs of the Raven”. At the end of the area, there’s a dead giant rotting away in the sand. Between the giant’s arm and leg is the dig spot for the Dead and Bloated treasure.
Rewards:
- 1 Rare Enchantment
- 1 Oblivion Stone
- 5 Soft Svartalfheim Steel
- 6,000 Hacksilver
Kneel Before Thor!
Treasure Map Location (3:58 in Video):
Found in Region “Landsuther Mines”. To access this area you need Brok’s second favor (side quest) “Deus Ex Malachite”, which triggers by talking to him at his shop after doing his first quest. At the start of the Landsuther climb down the broken floor panel (the normal side quest path, Screenshot 2). Once in the basement, head through the left side to find an elevator (Screenshot 3 with red arrow). This elevator leads up to a hidden red chest with the Kneel Before Thor treasure scroll sitting right next to it. So this one is near the start of the mines, but in a hidden side area.
Dig Spot: Found in Muspelheim Tower. It’s an area in the south of the Lake of Nine, to the left of the Lookout Tower. It’s at the very top of the area, after you slide down the zipline, to the right side of the Jötnar Shrine (the shrine being the wooden door your see on screenshot #2).

- 1 Legendary Enchantment
- 1 Unstable Ore
- 3 Hardened Svartalfheim Steel

Dig Spot:
Found in the Region “Foothills”. It’s at the mountain entrance, below the nose of the big stone face that is carved into the mountain. Actually the best hidden one, it’s easy to overlook, hence the name “Don’t Blink”. The treasure map is found inside the old boat. After beating the side quest you can park your boat at the nearest dock and go inside the shipwreck. The treasure scroll is next to a dead body.
Dig Spot: Found in The Mason’s Channel Region (in the north of Lake of Nine). Dock your boat the southern dock of the Mason’s channel. Dig Spot:
Located in “Northri Stronghold” Region. To access this area you need Sindri’s second favour (side quest) called “Family Business”. You can get it during this quest or after. On your way through the quest you must activate a big water wheel at the start of the Northri Stronghold. In that same water wheel area, there’s a big wooden tower that you can climb up (screenshot 2). At the top there’s a corpse and the dig spot (screenshot 3).

Right after the Nornir chest, you can see a locked gate on the right side, on the outer area of the outpost. The island of light dig spot is behind this gate. To open it, you must progress through the outpost. Then you can circle around the gate from the other side.
Rewards:
- 1 Rare Enchantment
- 1 Unyielding Cinder
- 5 Aegir’s Gold
- 7 World Serpent Scale Fragments
- 6000 Hacksilver

The treasure scroll is in plain sight, very easy to see in the sand. It’s one of those places you have no reason to go to unless you’re exploring.
Dig Spot:
Found in “Fafnir’s Storeroom” region. Yo go here during Sindri’s first favor (side quest) called “Fafnir’s Hoard”. In the woods area, there’s a huge gate leading into the Fafnir Storeroom. Also very close to this region’s Nornir chest.

To open that gate you must pull the chain in Region “Stone Falls” (area location in screenshot #2). Watch where the chains are attached to the big gate and follow the chains to the end (screenshot #2).
Now that the door is open, make your way through Veithurgard, past the dragon, until you reach another huge gate sealed by 4 runes (which you are supposed to spin in place to proceed, screenshot #2). To the left of the big sealed gate is a lore marker, in front of it lies the Hunter’s Kingdom treasure dig spot (screenshot #3).

Make it past his shop, push against the wall to make it to the other side and advance further into this hidden mountain passage. Then you’ll come across a treasure scroll in the middle of the path. Actually, one of the best-hidden ones in the game if you don’t know about this secret mountain passage, but once you’re inside it’s pretty much impossible to miss.

Gloria says
The dead and bloated treasure map location is technically missable. I did the dwarves favors before looking for the treasure thinking I could come back after I beat the game and/or focused on other collectibles, but then I couldn’t return to the Giants corpse to get it. ???
PowerPyx says
You can return after the game. I did all of these after the game, never triggered any favors during the story. Don’t worry, 100% no missables in this game.
Jesus says
Max out your luck before you go treasure hunting you’ll get more Hacksilver
Tony says
I have a problem with Treasure Hunter Trophy.
I collected everything but the trophy didn’t pop up.
Hamza says
Did you get the trophy? Cuz I certainly didn’t. I completed all the treasure hunts and still no trophy. Help please!
Rob says
Thanks for the help, could not PLAT without this guide!!!
Hamza says
Please help me out! I spent plenty of hours doing Niflheim, Valkyries, Ravens and now Treasure hunt. I kept Treasure hunt for the end. I completed all of them but the trophy didn’t pop.
PowerPyx says
Did you keep a backup save (PS+ cloud or USB backup) before final treasure hunt? That’s your only hope.
If yes, reinstall the entire game, then copy your save back up, and complete the last treasure hunt again. Reinstalling often fixes trophy bugs BUT you need to do the trophy requirement again to trigger the trophy (completing last treasure hunt is the trophy trigger in this case).
If you don’t have a save from before the last treasure hunt you must play through the entire game again (in that case make sure you reinstall and delete all save games before starting from scratch).
