Starting Location: The Tale of Lady Masako

Travel to the Adachi estate

Follow the waypoint to the seemingly deserted Adachi estate. When you don’t find anyone, you will get objectives to search the guest house and the main house.

Search the main house

If you search the main house first, you’ll find evidence of a battle. Examine both items to complete this objective.

Search the guest house

If you follow the waypoint to the guest house, you’ll encounter a fun surprise.

Did I say fun? I meant assassin. Sorry about that.

Defeat the assassins

Do unto others before they do unto you.

Search the assassins

Searching the assassins will lead you to wonder if the survivors escaped on horseback.

Search the stables

Follow the waypoint to the stables, to find them empty. Your only clue is a set of footprints running after a horse.

Follow the footprints

Follow the footprints down the path. They will come and go, but will follow the path until they veer off and head down a hill, then down a path heading the other direction.

Eventually the footprints will lead to a horse that has been brought down by archers.

Investigate the fallen horse

Examine the horse to trigger a cinematic with Lady Masako. She tells you that her clan has been betrayed and murdered, not by Mongols, but by your own people.

Follow Masako

It seems unthinkable that her clan was betrayed, but Masako is dead set on getting her revenge, so Jin commits to help. Follow her to the cemetary to pay your respects.

Honor the dead

Follow Masako

Masako will lead you to the Golden Temple and tells you to find a monk named Sogen, to tell him of the fate of clan Adachi. Once that is complete, she wants you to speak to the armorer to pick up a gift that she wants you to have.

Look for Sogen

As soon as you enter Golden Temple, a monk will call out your name and want to speak with you. Junshin is happy to point out Sogen, who is sweeping the temple deck to the left of the village entrance.

Speak with the sweeping monk

Find the monk sweeping the deck with a broom and speak with him. His reactions seem odd, but not immediately suspicious.

Speak with the armorer

Next go to the armorer and pick up the Samurai Clan Armor, which will be very useful in the upcoming fight? Did I say fight? I meant leisurely walk through the woods.

Speak with Lady Masako

Leave the temple area and meet up with Lady Masako who waits outside.

Follow Masako

She will lead you to a rocky outcropping from which you can observe the area.

Look for Sogen

Just below, you’ll see Sogen speaking with a couple. He will speak with them briefly then hurry off away from the temple. Masako gives chase!

Trail Sogen

Unlike some missions, Sogen will most definitely check to see if he is being followed, multiple times. Make sure that you have a convenient patch of pampas grass or a rock to hide behind. As soon as he turns around, keep following him.

Eventually Sogen will lead you to an old inn that the bandits are using as a hideout.

Go to the left side of the inn’s entrance

Move in closer until you reach the waypoint next to the inn’s entrance. Masako’s plan is genius in its simplicity.

Defeat the bandits

This fight will open with a standoff with you and Lady Masako against several bandits. Even if you manage to get the maximum kills in the standoff, there will still be a dozen or more bandits to fight in total, so be ready for a protracted battle.

Confront Sogen

Once all the bandits are defeated, go to the second floor of the inn to interrogate Sogen for information about the attack.

Unfortunately, your interrogation technique of Good Samurai, Hack Your Face to Pieces Lady doesn’t produce any useful information.

Search the inn

Searching the inn does turn up some useful intel, however:  a list of conspirators who were in on the plot. Well that was a freebie.

Speak with Lady Masako

Talk with Lady Masako to discuss what you found in a cinematic that brings this mission to an end.

This finishes The Tale of Lady Masako quest in Ghost of Tsushima.
