Blood on the Grass is a main tale in Ghost of Tsushima. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Blood on the Grass Main Quest.
Blood on the Grass is unlocked when you’ve completed the introductory mission and enter the open world .
Main Tale: Blood on the Grass
Act: 1 – Rescue Lord Shimura

Requirement: Complete the Prologue and enter the open world
Rewards: Major Legend Increase, Ronin Attire
Mission Info: The mercenary Straw Hat ronin may be rough around the edges, but I could use their blades to help rescue Lord Shimura. I should look them up and see if they’re open to some work. Apparently they’ve been seen hunting Mongols in the Kishi Grasslands.
Objectives:
- Travel to the coast by the Kishi Grasslands
- Investigate the burning cart
- Reach the search area
- Follow the trail of dead Mongols
- Reach the search area
- Investigate the dropped Straw Hat
- Defeat the Mongols with Ryuzo
- Speak with Ryuzo
- Mount your horse
- Travel with Ryuzo to his Straw Hat camp
- Search the ruined cart
- Speak with the peasant
- Travel with Ryuzo to his Straw Hat camp
- Walk with Ryuzo
- Pick up the ronin armor
Starting Location: Blood on the Grass
Travel to the coast by the Kishi Grasslands
Follow the waypoint and you’ll discover a burning cart.
Investigate the burning cart
Did the Straw Hats ambush this Mongol convoy? Looks like there are more bodies in the distance.
Reach the search area
Follow the road towards the search area, and you’ll see a trail of bodies leading in that direction.
Follow the trail of dead Mongols
As trails go, this one isn’t that tough to follow. You’ll run into a wounded Mongol hauling himself away from his attackers.
Reach the search area
This will lead you to a new trail. Follow the waypoint.
Investigate the dropped Straw Hat
When you get there, you’ll find a Straw Hat that you must examine.
Before CSI Tsushima can provide any results however, in steps your old friend Ryuzo to bring you up to speed on the Straw Hats.
Before you can make a deal to help Lord Shimura, you’re ambushed by Mongols!
Defeat the Mongols with Ryuzo
Speak with Ryuzo
Once you’ve defeated all the Mongols, you’ll automatically trigger a cinematic.
Mount your horse
What, were you planning to walk?
Travel with Ryuzo to his Straw Hat camp
Though the goal says to get to the camp, you’ll be interrupted on the way by the signs of another ambush.
Search the ruined cart
As you search the cart, a peasant survivor of the attack will run up to you.
Speak with the peasant
Travel with Ryuzo to his Straw Hat camp
Back on the horse, continue the ride following Ryuzo until you reach the camp.
Walk with Ryuzo
After you speak up at the Straw Hats camp, Ryuzo pulls you aside to give you a gift and to caution you.
Pick up the ronin armor
This finishes the Blood on the Grass quest in Ghost of Tsushima.
