Starting Location: Time and Wind
This is one of the hardest to find secret quests in the game. It starts by interacting with a statue called “Ravaged Carving” on an island. But the island is far away in the ocean, at the top right edge of the map. To get there, you must use a character with ice abilities to freeze the ocean bit by bit, thus allowing you to walk over the frozen water until you reach the island. A good character for this is Kaeya, who you get early from a main story mission in Act 1 Prologue. He does an ice blast that keeps water frozen for a few seconds, then you can keep spamming this move until you get to the island (takes around 5 minutes total).
The exact island location is circled red below.
Here’s an image of making an ice path across the water and the statue on the island that starts the quest.
Uncover the secret of the uninhabited island
To uncover the secret of the uninhabited island, you must head to the southern beach of the island (south side of search area). On the beach is a big pile of rocks. You must destroy those rocks (e.g. with melee attacks). It will show a health bar over the rocks after hitting them for the first time. When they are destroyed, they reveal the item “Ragged Notebook”. Pick it up to get the next objective. You can also read this notebook via the inventory (quest items section) to get some clues on what to do next, but we’ll go through that here in the guide anyway.
Observe the shadow on the sundial
Observing the shadow on the sundial is the big puzzle of the Time and Wind quest. Anything in this objective can only be done between 2:00AM – 5:00AM! You can change the time instantly via the menu. If you take too long (if it gets later than 5:00AM) you will need to skip time again to 2:00AM.
Step 1: Change the time to just after 2:00AM via the menu. It doesn’t need to be precisely 2:00AM, any time between 2:00 – 5:00 will work.
Step 2 (Cluster of Wind #1 Location): Head back to the Ravaged Carving statue that started the quest and use Elemental Sight (on PlayStation it’s + ). It’s the mode that highlights objects in green color. While Elemental Sight is active you will be able to see 4 green leaves on the statue. These indicate how many so-called “Clusters of Wind” you have left to find. There are 4 total and finding any 1 of them will give the next objective to find the remaining 3.
The first Cluster of Wind can be seen right behind the statue on an archway.
Glide to it and use a Wind ability (Anemo/green element) to destroy it. Anemo should be your starting character’s default elemental ability that casts wind in front of you (on PlayStation press ). It can only be done with Anemo/Wind characters, other elements won’t work! Remember these objects only show up between 2:00 – 5:00, so if you take too long you must advance time again. They must be hit while Elemental Sight is active, which only lasts for a few seconds.
Disperse the cluster of wind (x3)
Now that you found the first Cluster of Wind you must find the remaining three. Again, remember it has to be between 2:00 – 5:00 to see them and you must hit them with your wind ability while Elemental Sight is active.
Cluster of Wind #2 Location: On the tallest pillar on the island, next to the statue where the quest started. You must climb up the side of the pillar.
Cluster of Wind #3 Location: At the northern beach of the island there’s a rock sticking out of the water. On it is the next Wind Cluster.
Cluster of Wind #4 Location: At the south-west edge of the search area, at the end of a fallen pillar in the water. You must cast some ice to walk on the water, then switch to your Anemo/Wind character to cast wind elemental attack on the Cluster.
Scatter the deposit of wind
Head to the middle of the island. There’s a ritual site in front of the statue where the quest started. Use Elemental Sight to see a big green orb and hit it with one of your wind elemental attacks while Elemental Sight is still active.
This will trigger a boss fight against a Level 35 wind enemy called Eye of the Storm. If you’re underleveled, don’t worry, there’s an easy trick to beat this boss instantly at any level!
Eye of the Storm – Easy Boss Strategy: Glide over to the arch in the east of the island where Cluster of Wind #1 was located. Swim in the water there and wait for the boss to fly into the water, which will kill it instantly.
Pursue the Eye of the Storm
Above the ritual site where the boss spawned will now be a gust of wind. Use your wings in there to fly up and follow the rings in the air. This will take you on a 500 meter flight across the map. You’ll end up over the coast and then you must drop down to the land area (it will have an objective marker on the minimap where to land). See the next objective for the exact landing site.
Search for the Eye of the Storm
This is the location where you should have landed after the wind gust flight:
It will give you a yellow search area. In the middle of it is another one of those statues that started the quest. However, interacting with it only says “Seeds of stories, brought by the wind and cultivated by time”. What you need to do here is to change the time to 2:00AM – 5:00AM (again) and use Elemental Sight to see 4 Clusters of Wind around the statue. Then you must attack them with wind elemental attacks while Elemental Sight is still active (only lasts a few seconds). Some Level 38 enemies spawn but you can ignore them and just focus on hitting the Clusters of Wind. Don’t worry if you’re underleveled, the enemies are weak slimes and I did it with a Level 20 character. After all 4 Clusters are gone, the Eye of the Storm boss spawns in front of the statue and you must hit it with a wind elemental attack too. Then the boss fight starts – this time it’s a Level 40 Eye of the Storm!
Defeat the Eye of the Storm
An easy strategy to defeat the Level 40 Eye of the Storm is to hang onto the side of the cliffs above the ocean. Keep hanging on the cliffside until the boss does a dropdown attack, which will make it fall into the water and kills it instantly. This works at any level, even with a level 1 character, no skill needed!
The fight is super easy this way. You just need to get a bit lucky that the boss does the right sort of attack where it drops down into the water. Obviously, make sure there’s no land below the cliff where you’re hanging, there should be water underneath. Also don’t jump into the ocean yourself because the boss will stop following you. Hanging near the top of the cliffs is best, but far enough down that other enemies can’t hit you. Just keep hanging there and wait. If the boss kills you with another attack, repeat the process a bunch of times until it works. It took me around 10 tries. If one of your characters dies, don’t bother reviving. After they all die you respawn very near to the boss fight and can just keep trying this tactic until it works. When the boss dies, the other Level 38 Slimes die too, so you don’t need to deal with them at all. Or if you’re Level 35+ you can try to do the fight legit, this exploit is meant for underleveled players.
Talk to Henry Morton
In front of the statue where the Eye of the Storm spawned is a man called Henry Morton. Go talk to him to finish the quest.
As a reward you earn 500 Adventure XP, 60 Primogems, 4 Hero’s Wit (20,000 XP each), 6 Mystic Enhancement Ore (10,000 Weapon XP each), 60,000 Mora.
This finishes Time and Wind side mission in Genshin Impact.
