Starting Location: People of the Springs
This quest automatically unlocks after completing Tribal Quest, Where the Koholasaurs Gather.
Go to the location analyzed by Mualani
Use the Statue of the Seven in the southeast of the Ameyalco Waters.
Glide southeast to the next destination.
Viramdra comes up with the theory that the next clue has something to do with activating Spiritways. He also spots the first Phlogiston Node needed to activate the Spiritway.
Activate the Phlogiston Node (2)
Phlogiston Node #1: Make your way to the Phlogiston Node on the island southeast of you.
Near the Teleport Waypoint, you see the second Phlogiston Node floating in the air out of reach.
Look at the south side of the small rock fixture with the seashells on it.
Destroy the rubble, then hit the blue crystal to reveal an orange pathway up to the node.
Run up the pathway and touch the node.
Phlogiston Node #2: Jump off the west side of the orange pathway and glide down to the small bit of land jutting out into the water.
Two hilichurls stand in your way. Take them out.
Jump up onto the small rock there and touch the third Phlogiston Node.
The Traveler stays at the nodes to keep them activated, while Maulani rides the Spiritway.
Challenge the Spiritway
Now as Maulani, approach the beginning of the Spiritway and use your Elemental Skill.
Whenever you see a fissure in the path, jump over it.
After you jump between a couple Spiritway paths, you regain control of the Traveler.
Use the Phlogiston Nodes to switch paths
From where you regain control, run back up the orange pathway and activate the second Phlogiston Node you found.
Continue onward
You return to Mualani and ride several more Spiritways.
Use the Phlogiston Nodes to switch paths
Now as the Traveler, run up to the third Phlogiston Node you found and activate it.
Complete the challenge
Go through the remaining Spiritway paths to reach the end of the path.
To determine the next step, you decide to analyze the large whirlpool that appeared out in the lake.
Accompany Mualani to investigate the whirlpool
To save a little bit of time, use the Koholasaur Spiritsconce just to the southeast of you.
Make your way across the water and approach the small rock formation at the water’s edge.
While you discuss the whirlpool, Karya shouts that Viramdra got sucked into the turbulent waters.
Rescue Viramdra
Use Mualani’s Elemental Skill and surf across the water. Stay in between the rows of whirlpools and collect the phlogiston orbs to keep your phlogiston energy level high. You need these or your Elemental Skill times out.
This event gives you 90 seconds to complete it. Just keep at a steady pace and you should complete it in 30 or 40.
After the rescue, you need to wait to use the Phlogiston Nodes again and repeat the Spiritway ritual. So, Mualani decides to set up camp for the night.
Help Mualani set up camp
Approach Mualani and interact with her to set up camp.
Complete this cutscene to finish the Tribal Quest, Legend of the Mysterious Island.
