Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth Where the Wind Blows Walkthrough

Where the Wind Blows is a side quest in Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Where the Wind Blows Side Mission (Odd Job). It’s also known as Broden’s Request. It requires you to help Mildred repair a windmill.

Where the Wind Blows becomes available at the Kalm Community Noticeboard after completing the previous three Noticeboard quests – Flowers from the Hill, Livestock’s Bane, A Rare Card Lost.

Starting Location: Where the Wind Blows (Broden’s Request)

You can accept the Odd Job from the Community Noticeboard in Kalm, or you can go directly to the quest giver at the Kalm Inn.

Speak with Mildred

Head to the Windmill Settlement east of Kalm and speak to Mildred.

Obtain the Transmuter Chip

You will need to find a Transmuter Chip, and in order to find the location of one, you will need to complete 2 of the 6 Expedition Intel lifesprings in Grasslands. These are revealed on the map by activating Remnawave Towers. After completing two of them, Chadley will relay the location for the Transmuter Chip at Excavation Intel 1: Bygone Settlement. Head to this location, then use your chocobo to sniff out the item and dig for it with .

Procure Materials

Once you’ve acquired the Transmuter Chip for the Windmill Gear, you will need to acquire 1 Quetzalcoatl Talon, 2 Iron Ore, 1 Lea Titanium and 5 Beast Bone to craft it. Most of these are found pretty commonly throughout the Grasslands, but for the Quetzalcoatl Talon you will need to complete 4 of the 6 Expedition Intel lifesprings in Grasslands. This will reveal the location of Classified Intel: Winged Lacertilian of Yore, right next to the Mako Pipeline Maintenance Warehouse. Head over here and be prepared for a boss fight.

Deliver the Windmill Gear

After defeating Quetzalcoatl, transmute a Windmill Gear. This requires Craftsmanship Level 4, you can increase the level by transmuting one of every other item. Deliver the Windmill Gear to Mildred. After talking to Mildred, you will be able to pick up an orb of Cleansing Materia that falls down in front of the windmill.
