In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth you can go on a date with one of your party members during Chapter 12. The date will happen after the Loveless minigame, when entering the gondola at Skywheel Square. This FF7 Rebirth Relationships Guide shows how to complete all romances and get all intimate date conclusions. In total there are 6 dating options: Tifa, Aerith, Yuffie, Barret, Red XIII, Cait Sith with Vincent and Cid.
There are 5 intimate date conclusions. Everyone except Cait Sith has an intimate conclusion option. Cait Sith can still appear as a date in Chapter 12 but doesn’t have an intimate conclusion. Going on all intimate dates is a 100% Completion requirement.
How Chapter 12 Date is Decided
On the first playthrough, who you get as your Chapter 12 date will depend on who you have the highest relationship status with. This is influenced by four things:
- Optional Conversations – after arriving at new settlements you will sometimes see smiley faces above your teammates and can talk to them. These optional conversations can strengthen the relationship. If you always talk to one character while ignoring all others, this character will gain more relationship progress.
- Odd Jobs (Side Quests) – specific side quests give the “relationship strengthened” bonus for specific characters.
- Synergy Skills & Abilities – buy all Synergy Skills and Abilities at Maghnata Books (using Manuscripts) and use them in battle
- Story Beats – specific story events will influence the relationship
These are listed character by character below. If you want to force the date with a specific character only work on that person’s requirements while avoiding everything needed for the other characters (don’t talk to them, don’t do their side quests, don’t buy their synergies).
What decides whether you get the Intimate or Standard Conclusion: This is decided by your overall relationship progress %, which isn’t viewable on the first playthrough. The intimate outcome seems to trigger at 75-80%+ relationship progress. However, you can force which conclusion you want through the Extra Settings Menu (unlocked after story).
Easy Method to Get All Intimate Conclusions
After beating the story you unlock Chapter Select and the Extra Settings Menu. Go to System > Extra Settings > Chapter 12 Companion = Pick who you want to Date / Chapter 12 Date Event Conclusion = Pick Intimate Conclusion.
Now go to System > Chapter Selection > Replay Chapter 12. You must play through the main objectives until you finish the Loveless minigame and enter the Gondola at Skywheel Square. The date happens there in the gondola.
Afterward you can change the date in the Extra Settings and replay Chapter 12 again. You must replay it all the way to the Skywheel section every time. Changing the Date from Extra Settings won’t work after sleeping at the Hotel. At that point your date will be locked in based on your selection in the Extra Settings. You can also pick whether you want to standard or intimate outcome from the Extra Settings.
After the story you can see everyone’s relationship status under System > Play Log > press R1.

Cait Sith Relationship
Cait Sith doesn’t have a relationship tracker. He is the “pity date” if you skipped completely everything (didn’t do any side quests and didn’t do any optional conversations or synergy abilities).
That’s everything there is to know about relationships, romances, and intimate dates in FF7 Rebirth.

So, I wonder how the trophies work and the 100% completion. Because if I work to get a specific date only, will I miss out on skills and trophies or maybe I can go for everything after? Is it possible to get the date you want and still max everyone’s relationship?? I’m not clear how this will work.
PowerPyx says
Doesn’t affect trophies. You need all dates for 100% completion anyway via Chapter Select. Nothing is missable. It’s explained in the guide: you can use the Extra Settings Menu to change which date you want (unlocked after Story) and replay Chapter 12 to get them all.
Mat says
I picked up intimate conclusion and only date companions got counted even if I was intimate still have 0/5 do you know what’s going on?
MAxxe says
I noted that even after completing the game and selecting the intimate conclusion for any other companion through the extra settings menu to date in Chapter 12, it will not play out the intimate conclusion unless that companion is at the highest relationship tier. Light blue pulsing smiley/~70%.
I don’t know why it has this issue. It seems you have to have any companions you wish to date at around that ~70% mark before the intimacy setting actually has any bearing.
emikon says
Which date do you get if you don’t miss out on any of these? I did them all, if I’m not wrong, and I ended up getting Aerith on both Gold Saucer dates.
That1guy says
I did the same. Did everything but got Barret somehow?
Larry says
So I did all on Barret’s synergy skills and abilities and the play log still shows some missing?.
tysoNg says
Can you still get highest bond with all of them during the first playthrough and then do the selection after the first date so that I you get all the dates?
Wolf says
Worth noting that if you have max affinity with everyone going into the Chapter 12 date, it seems to be a random pick rather than a hierachy like the original.
Liquidforce says
Just wanted to let others know for the conversations specifically you need to have chosen the 2 star AND the 3 star selections for everyone to get %100. Side note, the sky wheel date counted as a story beat for Yuffie. Good luck on %100 file for others trying it ?
Karen says
So should I just be super nice to everyone and then later just pick who I want to date to get everyone at a high relationship score?
Jeremy says
There seems to be some debate online regarding Chapter 9 and the best conversation option with Aerith. Some are saying “They didn’t seem to mind” is apparently the best answer, whereas “You’re too hard on yourself” is the 2nd best option.
