Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth Esoteric Secrets of the Elders Walkthrough

Esoteric Secrets of the Elders is a side quest in Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Esoteric Secrets of the Elders Side Mission (Odd Job). It’s also known as the Chocobo Sage’s Request. It requires you to capture a Blue Chocobo, collect Chocograss and win a Chocobo Race.

Esoteric Secrets of the Elders becomes available in Chapter 11 after reaching the Nibel Region.

Requirement: Unlocked in Chapter 11 upon reaching the Nibel Region.

• Report back to the Chocobo Sage

• Complete the Final Trial

Starting Location: Esoteric Secrets of the Elders (Chocobo Sage’s Request)

This starts at the Chocobo Sage’s Manor in the southeast corner of Nibel region.

Capture the chocobo Selena

Head to the Chocobo Intel location, just south-east of the Nibel Airstrip. Once there, you’ll be wrangling a chocobo a little differently than other occasions. Instead of stealthing your way to it, you need to head up the cliff and pick up food you can throw off the cliff to act as bait to lure the Blue Chocobo (Selena) to you. While doing this, you need to quickly get her to pass through the areas of the puffy, spiky flowers when they deflate. If they inflate and hit Selena, she can only take three hits and will run off, meaning you go back to the checkpoint. Guide her over to the long grass near where you started then press to mount her.

Report back to the Chocobo Sage

Return to the Sage at the Manor once you have secured Selena.

Deliver Chocograss

Chocograss can be found floating high above the water in the south-western part of the Nibel region. It looks like this:

To use the Chocojet, hold and if you want to glide, hold :r2:. The jet sends you up very high over water so you should have no problem getting high enough to collect them. There are 50 scattered throughout the Nibel region, although you only need 30 for the quest. Return to the Sage and hand them in when you have them.

Complete the Final Trial

The Final Trial is Zoom de Chocobo, which is basically another three-lap Chocobo Race like you already completed during the main story in Chapter 2. It’s 1v1 and Chocobo Sage is pretty slow so this should be easy.
