Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth A Rare Card Lost Walkthrough

February 28, 2024 by Archavia Leave a Comment

A Rare Card Lost is a side quest in Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the A Rare Card Lost Side Mission (Odd Job). It’s also known as the Bartender’s Request. It requires you to help Vash recover his lost rare card, Chocobo & Moogle.

A Rare Card Lost becomes available at the Kalm Community Noticeboard after completing the “Break in the Saddle” Main Objective where you learn to ride your chocobo.

Side Quest: A Rare Card Lost
Chapter:
 2
Area:
Kalm – The Rusty Arrow (available from Kalm Community Noticeboard)
Quest Giver: Bartender with a Losing Streak
Requirement: Available after completing the “Break in the Saddle” Main Objective
Reward: Tifa Relationship Strengthened, 10 Party EXP, Player EXP (scaled to your level), Queen’s Blood Card: Chocobo & Moogle
Mission Info: Got beat bad at Queen’s Blood, but the real stringer was when I had to give up the rare card I’d staked on the match. I’m looking for a pro to win it back on my behalf. If you think you’ve got what it takes, drop by the bar.

Objectives:

  • Prove Your Skill to Vash
  • Track Down Virgil
  • Track Down Thorin
  • Deliver the Card

Starting Location: A Rare Card Lost (Bartender’s Request)

You can accept the Odd Job from the Community Noticeboard in Kalm, or you can go directly to the quest giver in The Rusty Arrow.

Prove Your Skill to Vash

After speaking to the bartender in The Rusty Arrow bar, he will challenge you to a game of Queen’s Blood. Beat him in a match to continue. If you need help with Queen’s Blood refer to: How to Win at Queen’s Blood – Best Decks & Strategies.

Queen’s Blood Strategy: The general strategy is that you’ll want to focus on two lanes, ignore the third lane. Only winning lanes get added to the score count at the end, losing lanes count as “0”. If you win two lanes you are almost guaranteed to win the match. Always sacrifice the third lane in order to get a dominant victory on two lanes. On the first draw discard all level 2 cards, you only want level 1 cards to to advance the lanes quickly and cut off the opponent. Start by putting a Levrikon in the top lane (even better, put a Cactuar if you won it from Nene, the Rank 3 player in the north of Kalm). Then put a Crystalline Crab in the middle lane (won from Ned just outside Kalm Inn). Now push the middle and top lanes forward as fast as possible with level 1 cards. Ignore the bottom lane. Depending on your deck you can also switch this strategy around and focus on the bottom and middle lane. The key to victory is to advance two lanes forward as fast as possible, if you block off the opponent you are pretty much guaranteed to win those lanes as you will have more cards on them. The same strategy will work for the other opponents too.

Track Down Virgil

Now head to the clocktower to find Virgil outside. You will need to beat him in a match as well.

Track Down Thorin

Next, hear to Thorin’s Card Shop northeast of Kalm. Speak to Thorin and once again, win another match. If needed, you can buy two powerful cards from him for 500 gil each. He’s stronger than the previous two opponents. Again, if you need help refer to How to Win at Queen’s Blood – Best Decks & Strategies.

Deliver the Card

Return to Vash at The Rusty Arrow.
