Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Of Robed Men and Ransoms Walkthrough

Of Robed Men and Ransoms is a side quest in Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Of Robed Men and Ransoms Side Mission (Odd Job). It’s also known as Dr. Sheiran’s Request. It requires you to track down and rescue a kidnapped robed man.

Of Robed Men and Ransoms becomes available at the North Corel Community Noticeboard after completing the “Back in Corel” Main Objective.

Requirement: Available after completing the “Back in Corel” Main Objective in Chapter 7
Reward: Tale of the Red Warrior Vol. II (10 Red XIII SP), Red XIII Relationship Strengthened, 10 Party EXP, Player EXP (scaled to your level)
Mission Info: One of the robed fellows I’ve been looking after has been abducted. Whatever damn fool that did it left behind a note demanding money, but I’m in no position to pay. There’s no telling what’ll happen to the man if I don’t, though, so if someone out there’s willing to track down and rescue the poor bastard, you’d be doing us both a favor.

• Track Down the Chocobo Carriage
• Investigate the Cave
• Open the Shutter
• Rescue the Robed Man

Starting Location: Of Robed Men and Ransoms (Dr. Sheiran’s Request)

You can accept the Odd Job from the Community Noticeboard in North Corel, or you can go directly to the quest giver at the Clinic.

Follow Red’s Lead

Follow Red out of North Corel and you’ll encounter fiends on your way. After two fights, you will arrive at a campsite.

Track Down the Chocobo Carriage

Continue up the path to find the chocobo carriage.

Investigate the Cave

You will have to use your UV-A flashlight to track the purple marks. Head inside the cave and follow the track until you fight two Chimera, then continue. You’ll arrive at a locked door.

Open the Shutter

To the right of the locked door, head up the ramp and flick the switch to power on the rotating grapple points. Then swing across them using the grappling hook to reach the opposite corner. Climb across the yellow ledges on the wall and flick the next switch to open the shutter.

Rescue the Robed Man

Head through the door into the next room and you’ll find two people. Regardless of what you answer, you’ll have to fight a Dark Claw. Be careful of its Reaper Claws attack as it will put you to single digit HP. After defeating it, you will automatically return to the clinic.
