Game Info
FINAL FANTASY XVI has a semi-linear and semi-open world structure. There is only one playable character, called Clive. The story takes place over 3 time periods of Clive’s life – his Teens, Twenties, and Thirties. After completing one timeline you can’t go back to the previous period. There’s a Point of No Return in “Main Quest 25: The Dame” but nothing before this point matters for trophies or collectibles. Only the items found after the Point of No Return count for trophies. After the story there is still Free-Roam and Stage Replay. You can revisit all areas with a fast travel obelisk and everything else from Clive’s thirties can be revisited in Stage Replay. Only some story-related areas before the Point of No Return become unavailable but they don’t contain anything important. The gameplay is more geared towards real time action and doesn’t use Materia. Instead, you use so called “Eikon Abilities” which automatically recharge during battle. For trophies you need 91 Collectibles: 22 Curiosities (includes 6 Signboards), 4 Inventory Upgrades, 32 Notorious Marks/Hunt Board Quests, 10 Letters, 16 Patron Items, 7 Chronolith Trials. Only the Curiosities displayed at the Wall of Memories in Clive’s Room count for trophies, other ones are optional. A 100% completion playthrough takes 60-70 hours. The highest difficulty “Final Fantasy Mode” is only available in New Game+ after beating the game once on any difficulty. The only missable thing is crafting Gotterdammerung if you intentionally sell the crafting materials for it, but as long as you never sell anything there are enough materials to craft every weapon and armor in the game.
