Riddle of the Sands is the 41st main story quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Riddle of the Sands main scenario chapter.

- Quest Info: Vivian succeeds in piecing together the puzzle of Hugo’s disappearance – his Waloeder allies carried him across the Velkroy Desert to his home in the heart of Drake’s Fang, where he remains to this day. Clive and Byron waste no time in giving chase.

Make for Dalimil Inn
In the desert, your first objective is to follow the path toward the city of Dalimil. If you didn’t complete the side quest The White-Winged Wonder before you may want to detour and do it now, as trekking across the desert on foot can take a bit. You can also take a detour directly north right now as well to the Ceratina area.
In these ruins, you can find a chest that contains the Mythril Belt armor piece, which should be an improvement over what you are currently wearing.
You can then keep trekking toward Dalimil. Once you approach the town there will be a scene and you will automatically enter the inn.
Defeat the royalists
After the scene in the inn, you’ll have to deal with a number of soldiers. Take them out to progress.
Make for Drake’s Fang
After the fight, you’ll be booted out of the inn, but can now make your way toward Drake’s Fang. Follow the path out the southeast side of town.
Speak with the townspeople 0/2
Turns out the gate is blocked, so you need to figure out how to get out of town. First, you need to speak with two of the townspeople in the area off to the left.
Speak with the villagers
You’ll need to speak with one more person for the info you need, so head to the opposite side of the area and speak with the man standing on the small dock.
Speak with Ferda
Now with a name, head back towards the middle of town and speak with the man standing near the pillar on the open building.
Make for the bordello
He asks you to go nearby to meet up with the person you require. Head through the short tunnel opposite him.
Defeat the bandits
You are ambushed by some enemies when you enter the area, take them out to continue.
Make for the Lock of Leisure
After passing the test, you’ll need to head to the smith back near the entrance of town.
Fulfill L’ubor’s request
Before agreeing to help you, Lubor wants your assistance solving the disappearance of the crystals around Dalimil.
Subquest:
Make for Drake’s Fang
With Lubor’s request fulfilled, you can now head out of the southeast side of the town through the now-open gate. Before leaving, there are also a couple of new side quests you can complete before you leave Dalimil.
New side quests:
Enter Drake’s Fang
After progressing towards The Jaw, you will automatically be placed back on the world map. Select Drake’s Fang to continue to the next main quest.
