Final Fantasy 16 (XVI) Payback Walkthrough

Payback is a Side Quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Payback side mission.

• Starting Location: The Hideaway, read the ‘Off the Record’ letter via the Reading Table in Clive’s Chambers.
• Quest Giver: Gaute
• Requirement: Unlocks during the Main Quest ‘Out of the Shadow‘ after talking with Mid upon completing the ‘Letting Off Steam III‘ Sub-Quest.
• Reward: 130 XP, 20 Renown, Curiosity: Cid’s Goblet, 25 Wyrrite, 50 Sharp Fang, 1 Meteorite
• Quest Info: A cursory review of the Hideway’s ledgers by Gaute has revealed an issue of utmost concern so concerning, in fact, that he wishes to speak with Clive about it personally.

Objectives:

• Speak with Gaute
• Deliver the star ruby to Martha
• Deliver the star ruby to Isabelle
• Return to the Hideaway and speak with Gaute
• Take the final star ruby to Charon

Starting Location: Payback

Speak with Gaute

After reading the ‘Off the Record’ letter in Clive’s Chambers, accept the quest and find Gaute at the Alliant Reports desk in the Mess.

Deliver the star ruby to Martha

Fast travel to Martha’s Rest and speak to her behind the bar of the Golden Stables Inn.

Deliver the star ruby to Isabelle

Fast travel to Northreach and speak to Isabelle at The Veil.

Return to the Hideaway and speak with Gaute

Fast travel to back to the Hideaway and speak with Gaute in the Mess.

Take the final star ruby to Charon

Run over to Charon at her shop on the Main Deck. After handing it over, you’ll automatically talk to Otto and after a long cutscene, the quest will end.

This finishes Payback Side Quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI).
