Holding On is the 20th main story quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Holding On main scenario chapter.
- Starting Location: Martha’s Rest
- Requirement: Complete Homecoming
- Reward: None
- Quest Info: At Martha’s Rest, Clive and Jill cross paths with Cid, and say their final farewells before continuing their journey. The road ahead leads north through Rhiannon’s Ride to Eastpool, then on to Phoenix Gate.
Objectives:
- Make for Eastpool
- Make for Phoenix Gate
- Fulfill the mayor’s request
- Make for Phoenix Gate
- Explore the ruins of Phoenix Gate
Make for Eastpool
After the scene outside the tavern with Cid, you can start making your way to Eastpool over the now-repaired bridge. Before leaving there are a couple of new side quests available in Martha’s Rest, along with one you will run across on your way to Eastpool.
New side quests:
Along the road, you can find and interact with a monument that looks like the Arette stone in the Hideaway. This is a Chronolith which you will need to complete later on in the game for a trophy requirement, but you can’t interact with it now.
Keep following the path up to Eastpool, where you’ll have a series of scenes after entering the town.
Make for Phoenix Gate
After the scenes, you’ll receive a new set of armor, along with a set of gear that will be an improvement over everything else you can currently have, which is a nice bonus. You can then follow the objective to the gate at the north end of the town.
Fulfill the mayor’s request
Before you can leave town, the mayor asks if you can speak with one of the Bearers.
Subquest:
Make for Phoenix Gate
After the subquest is complete, you can continue on your way to Phoenix Gate through the gate on the north side of town.
Explore the ruins of Phoenix Gate
Once you pass The Dim Obelisk you’ll be returned to the world map, and can select Phoenix Gate Ruins to progress to the next main quest.
This finishes Holding On Main Quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI).
