Far Cry 6 Shoot McKay or Let Live

October 4, 2021 by PowerPyx 2 Comments

In Main Mission The Deported of Far Cry 6, you will get to choose whether to leave McKay alone and head back to shore, or to shoot him. Your choice will affect what reward you get after the mission.

There are a few different outcomes:

  • Shoot McKay = After the mission you get a secret piece of armor “Canadian, Eh?” (Wrist Gear) – Effect: Poison Money – Receive Pesos for killing an enemy with poison. This item doesn’t even show up in your Arsenal unless you get it from this story choice. This item is missable and there is no way to get it if you let McKay live. However, it’s not needed for any trophies or achievements. This item is of no significance and isn’t needed for unlocking anything else. Also, when returning to shore, in the next cutscene Yelena will say “I only wish Jonrón could have seen you put that fucker in the ground”. Yelena will be happier with his outcome, but it doesn’t affect anything else with her or other characters (doesn’t lock you out of any quests or anything).
  • Let McKay Live = You get 5000 Yaran Pesos (Money) at the end of the mission and Yelena will give a different response when returning to shore. In the next cutscene, Yelena will say “You want me to believe McKay just floated away?”, because she’s suspicious how McKay got away from you, but it doesn’t affect anything else with her (doesn’t lock you out of any quests or anything). McKay will never play a part of the story again, just like if you had killed him. He’s gone from the game for good, so there are no long-term impacts. It doesn’t affect the game ending or anything.
  • Shoot McKay in Leg = He will fall to the ground and squeal a bit, but the outcome is exactly the same as if you had let him live. You get 5000 Yaran Pesos after the mission and Yelena will make the same comment. He won’t ever appear in the game again.

In summary: If you shoot kill McKay, you get a unique Wrist Gear. If you let McKay live (or shoot him in the leg), you get 5000 Pesos. There are no long-term consequences, it doesn’t affect the game ending and has no impact on any other missions and doesn’t lock you out of anything. Simply choose based on what reward you prefer, it doesn’t have any real significance what you pick.

I shot the McKay In the face and he still lived all he did was go into injured mode, maybe should have shot him again. Also someone explain to me how blast rounds are ineffective against flesh?

Thanks for the info. I made sure I got a few rounds in before the scene changed.
