Far Cry 5 – Wingman Story Mission Walkthrough

The screenshot above shows the starting location of the Wingman quest. You can go there at any time after the prologue. In this mission you’ll recruit Nick Rye for your roster.

Once you arrive at Nick Rye’s place you can see him in the hangar fending off some enemies. Help him kill the attackers then talk to him. Nick tells you the Cultists have gotten hold off his plane and stashed it in the Seed Ranch outpost nearby. The waypoint marker will lead you there (south-west of John’s region).

If you wish you can liberate the outpost but this is optional. Nick’s plane is found in the building closest to the Outpost’s airstrip (the one with hangar door, at the end of the outpost). Even if you enemies see you don’t worry, you can simply rush to the plane.

The yellow seaplane is Nick’s. As soon as you enter the hangar doors automatically open. Press (PS4) / (XB1) to accelerate and pull the left stick down to take off.

Now you must fly through a long series of glowing waypoint circles in the sky. This will go on for a few minutes.

After following the waypoints you get to a big field where you must destroy a tall white & red silo. The easiest way is to shoot at it with the machine gun (press / ). But be careful not to crash into it.

Up next are some green-colored bliss containers. Again, shoot them (they are marked by a waypoint).

Your third and last destruction target are some airplanes. They can easily be blown to piece by shooting the explosive red barrels near them. As usual, marked by a waypoint.

Now fly to Nick’s airstrip and land the plane. Fly in a straight line over the airfield and slowly descend. When you’re close above the ground, press / to slow down and land. Once landed you must drive the plane to Nick’s hangar. You can still accelerate by pressing / . But don’t accelerate too much or the plane will take off again.

Driving the plane close to the hangar makes the screen fade to black and triggers a cutscene with Nick. He’s most happy to have his plane back but the joy is broken by a mob of Cultists that attack Nick’s house.

Head inside Nick Rye’s house and kill all the enemies there. One of them is upstairs hammering against a door of the bedroom where Nick’s wife is hiding. He can easily be taken out with a sneak takedown.

Get back out of the house and kill the waves of attacking enemies. They arrive in cars so you can run up to them and shoot them with a shotgun before they even get out.

Lastly, your objectives is to defend the hangar. Kill all enemies at the hangar. They also arrive in cars and quads. Throwing explosives and shooting the red explosive barrels works wonders here. Nick Rye will help out by attacking them with his plane. There are also two snipers spawning on the hangar roofs. Either let Nick take them out or do it yourself with a long-range weapon or pistol.

Keep throwing dynamite and remote explosives at approaching vehicles to make quick work of them until the last enemy is dead.

When the last enemy has died the screen fades to black and another cutscenes begins. After it, Nick Rye (plane specialist) gets added to your team roster and can be used in combat! This finishes the “Wingman” Recruitment Story Mission.
