Shooting Gallery is a Side Quest in Far Cry 5. This walkthrough shows how to complete this Quest.
Region: Whitetail Mountains (Jacob’s Region)
Area: Whitetail Park Ranger Station
Quest Giver: male Militia Captain
Requirement: having liberated Whitetail Park Ranger Station
Reward: 100 RP & 800 $
Objectives:
- Shoot a Target to Start
- Targets Hit (10) / Time: 30 seconds
- Shoot a Target to Start
- Targets Hit (10) / Time: 45 seconds
- Shoot a Target to Start
- Targets Hit (5) / Time: 60 seconds
- Claim Reward from Militia Captain
Upon liberating this outpost, the local Captain offers to participate on the shooting range and to try to beat some records. Challenge accepted!
Round 1: 30 seconds – 8 stationary and 2 moving targets
Round 2: 45 seconds – 2 stationary and 8 moving targets
Round 3: 60 seconds – 5 flying targets
The shotgun on the table is almost mandatory for this round. Shoot the first bird on the table with any scoped weapon and then switch to a shotgun and pick off the flying targets.
Once you are victorious, return to the Captain and get your reward.
Don’t worry, if you fail a round. You only have to repeat the last one and don’t have to completely start over.

I had to punch out everyone first, or they’d start shooting me during the last round as I sprayed shots at the birds. Then I had to revive the captain to get my reward. Hahaha.

Dynamite works nicely
Tc says
Remote explosives x2 detonate in the air.
Jimbob says
That’s what it took
Weeb says
Before round 1, shoot a mortar shell in the center then just shot one and wait for the fire to finish it for you
David says
Just throw a remote explosive in the air for the last one lol
Mark says
Funny, all you guys with the dynamite and remote explosives, lol…
Let me add, if you want to do it “right”, the final round (with shotgun) is the hardest. Do it like this (on Windows):
1) For the first bird (important), use the assault rifle there. Make SURE it is fully loaded (hit R) before you start. If it isn’t, you may lose a second or two if you go through a mandatory reload after that one shot (sigh).
2) Also before starting, know where the shotgun is. Practice POV movement once or twice to pick it up. So you don’t waste any time.
3) Get the shotgun by holding E. Then immediately reload it (R).
4) Don’t try to track birds, per se. Hold your gun up to a place pretty much right above you (ok, not vertically above), and instead of tracking them, wait until they fly right close to your aim. Then track a little if you want, and blast away. You are much more effective at closer range.
5) You might hold R (while also holding RMB for focus) so you keep reloading while waiting for the next good opportunity.
In a nutshell, don’t keep tracking far birds. Wait for close birds to come where you’re aiming. There will be tons.
