Introduction
Welcome to the Fallout Shelter Trophy Guide! The PS4 version of the original Fallout Shelter that released 3 years earlier on mobile. It’s identical to the mobile version, just with different controls. This game is available for free on PlayStation Store. It’s a base-building game. The goal is to build out your vault, get more inhabitants and unlock better gear to take them on quests. All trophies are progression based. The most time-consuming tasks are to get 20 legendary weapons & outfits, collect 100 Stimpacks and 100 RadAway on Quests, complete 100 Quests, kill 500 Enemies on Quests, scrap 500 Items, collect all Fragments of 4 Theme Recipes / craft every Theme.
A lot of it is just pure luck but you can speed things up by manually changing time in the PS4 Settings (you don’t even have to exit to the menu and it will instantly update the time progression in-game). Without this trick the platinum would take months to unlock.
Time Skip Exploit Explained (saves hundreds of hours)
Go to PS4 Settings > Date and Time > Set Manually > Change the Date or Hour to something in the future.
Don’t go back in time or it will freeze your game!
You can stay in-game for this (works online and offline)! It updates game progress instantly when you change the time. No need to quit out to the main menu. While you’re viewing your vault you can press the PS-Button and change the time in PS4 settings. Then all tasks complete instantly. This way you can get your Dwellers to Level 50 in just a few minutes. You can also put them in training rooms to max out all their stats. Then send them on Quests and to explore the Wasteland. Instead of waiting for your people to arrive at quests or return from them, you can use the same exploit and they will instantly be at the target destination. It cuts down the platinum time significantly. The PS4 is smart enough to realize the actual time you have earned the trophies so it will never mess up your trophy timestamps. Even if you play completely offline and put the date to 10 years in the future it will show the correct timestamps when you go back online and sync your trophies. So no worries, your trophy timestamps won’t be affected by the exploit. When you play online you also get a caps bonus for each day you skip and a lunch box after 7 days (can contain legendary items)! Therefore, doing it while online is the most efficient way. However, it is recommended to take a save game backup from time to time just to be safe in the event hat something gets corrupted.
Step 1: Get 100+ Dwellers & Level them Up, Play Quests, Get Legendary Weapons/Outfits, Scrap All Weapons/Outfits you don’t need (Scrap 500 total)
In this game you can (and should) work on everything simultaneously.
Start by building out a strong vault with 100+ Dwellers, get a few to Level 50 and max out all their SPECIAL stats in the training rooms. Send your best Dwellers on quests. To farm legendary weapons/outfits the best way is to skip 7 days at once. After 7 days you get a Lunch Box. They have the highest chance for Legendary Gear. You might also get Legendary Crafting Materials from them which can be used in a fully upgraded Weapon Workshop to craft Legendary Gear. Simultaneously, send a fully maxed out Dweller to the Wasteland. At 60 hours exploration time (per visit to the wasteland) there’s a chance for an event called “National Guard Depot” which has the highest droprate for rare/legendary items. It’s not as effective as farming lunch boxes with the time skip but you can combine both strategies for best results.
Quests can be played after building the Overseer’s Office for 1000 Caps. They can reward you with Lunch Boxes and more importantly, Theme Pieces! There are 8 Themes, each one has 9 Pieces. 8 x 9 = 72 Pieces total. Luckily, you can see them in the reward screen before playing the quest. More of them are randomly found during the quests. Quests can drop a lot of good stuff in general and are needed for lots of trophies. Some of the most time-consuming are doing 100 Quests, finding 100 Stimpacks and 100 RadAway on Quests, killing 500 Enemies on Quests. Start questing as soon as you’ve built the Overseer’s Office. For best results, max out all stats of everyone you send on quests (via training rooms), it makes it a whole lot easier and you just need to skip time in PS4 settings a few times to max them out. During quests remember to loot every room to get the 100 Stimpacks / 100 RadaAways for trophy “Big Pharma”.
The most important trophy to keep in mind is “Scraptastic”. For it you must scrap (not sell) 500 weapons/outfits found on quests and in the Wasteland. Always scrap the stuff you don’t need but keep all the legendary ones!
Step 2: Mop-Up
Most likely your last few trophies are collecting 20 Legendary Weapons, 20 Legendary Outfits, Crafting every Theme and some Quest-related stuff (such as finding 100 StimPacks / 100 Radaways on Quests).
Keep grinding quests for the quest-related things. For Legendary weapons, use the method explained in Step 1 (skip time one day each for a Lunch Box after 7 days, send out a Dweller to Wasteland for chance of Legendary event after 60 hours).
What does each S.P.E.C.I.A.L stat do?
- S = Strength –> Wasteland: used to open Lockboxes and deal more damage. Vault: production speed in power rooms / nuclear reactor.
- P = Perception –> Wasteland: needed to discover locations that you can enter (better chance at legendary gear), also increases critical hit rate (more damage). Vault: production speed in water treatment / water purification.
- E = Endurance –> Wasteland: increases health gained per level (best stat to increase first! It won’t give you more health if you level up Endurance later, must do it before leveling up. Get Dweller to 10 Endurance and put on outfits with high Endurance to increase health per level gained. At 11 Endurance Dweller becomes immune to radioactivity in the Wasteland. Vault: production speed a Nuka Cola Bottler and Weapon/Outfit Workshop.
- C = Charisma –> Wasteland: needed to successfully pass certain events that feature other people. Vault: speed up time in Radio Studio and faster reproduction speed in living quarters.
- I = Intelligence –> Wasteland: needed to successfully pass certain events that feature wounded people. Also deals more damage to robotic enemies. Increases chance of finding StimPacks / RadAway (especially on quests). Vault: speed up time in Medbays and Science Labs.
- L = Luck –> Wasteland: find more caps and better loot (better chance at rare / legendary). Also speeds up critical meter fill rate (especially on quests). Vault: Increases odds when rushing a room, also gives more caps when successfully rushing a room.

Mattress Stuffer Collect 1000 caps |
||
For this you must earn 1,000 Caps across the entire game. You do NOT need to have 1,000 at the same time (you are allowed to spend it).
Caps are the game’s currency. The most reliable way to get them is from rushing a room and from exploring the Wasteland. |
||
Hard Work is Happy Work Successfully complete 50 Room Rushes |
||
You can only rush resource-generating rooms (Power Generator, Diner, Water Treatment etc). To do this click on the room and press .
For this trophy only SUCCESSFUL Rushes count. If they fail it won’t count. Rushing a Room generates the resources automatically without waiting but at a higher risk of a fire breaking out or cockroaches/monsters attacking your dwellers. Always rush rooms when the Incident Chance (=Failure) is in the 30% range or below. An easy exploit is to advance time for an hour in the PS4 Settings, then the cooldown will have fallen to the 30% range and you can rush all rooms again with bigger chance for success. You can further increase the odds by having Dwellers with high Luck stat. More importantly than that, have the maximum amount of workers in the room (because it counts the combined luck across all people in the room). Since Rushing Rooms is one of the main sources for money and XP you will automatically be doing this very often throughout the game. It’s probably going to be one of your first trophies. |
||
Vault-Tec Architect Build 25 rooms |
||
See trophy “Vault-Tec Engineer”.
Vault-Tec Engineer Build 50 rooms |
||
To expand your Vault you will have to build more rooms. This is the core mechanic of the game and explained in a tutorial at the very start after creating your vault. To build rooms you need caps (money). They don’t have to be rooms of different types (after all, there are only 23 types of rooms + 1 elevator in the game). It counts when you build the same room multiple times. 50 might sound a lot at first but it’s really just something progression based that happens automatically over time. Don’t just go for the cheapest rooms though. Keep a good mix, build one of each and then add more Power Generators, Diners, and Water Treatments as your Vault grows. This way you get a well-balanced Vault.
Note: Building 2-3 of the same type next to each other counts as different rooms for the purpose of this trophy. So basically it’s just building something on 50 tiles. |
||
A Vault For My Vault Collect 10,000 Caps |
||
For this you must earn 10,000 Caps across the entire game. You do NOT need to have 10,000 at the same time (you are allowed to spend it).
Caps are the game’s currency. The most reliable way to get them is from rushing a room and from exploring the Wasteland. |
||
Better Settler Level up a dweller from Level 1 to 10 |
||
See trophy “Overseer”.
Higher and Higher Level up a dweller from Level 1 to 25 |
||
See trophy “Overseer”.
Overseer Level up a Dweller from Level 1 to 50 |
||
To get from Level 1 to 50 your Dweller needs 2,295,000 XP. With the time skip exploit it’s easy enough.
When the game starts all your Dwellers (Vault Inhabitants) are Level 1. You can also have your Dwellers make babies in the Living Quarters and the child will start at Level 1. The fastest way to level them up is by sending them to explore the Wasteland for days in one go. Fully max out all of a Dweller’s stats by putting them in training rooms and skipping time (in PS4 time settings skip one day and repeat). When all stats are maxed out, send the Dweller to the Wasteland, give them your best weapon and Outfit with +ENDURANCE, and also give 25 Stimpacks. At 11 Endurance the Dweller becomes immune to radioactive poisoning so you can save yourself the RadAway and they can survive much longer. Skip time for 3 days or so. When the Dweller has died, revive and recall to Vault. The longer they go out the more XP they get and they also find better gear. People in production rooms also level up. If you skip a few days they should level up, but it’s not as quick as sending someone to the Wasteland. |
||
Home Sweet Home Build 1 of every room type |
||
There are 24 rooms (when counting the elevator). You must build each type of room once. To unlock all of them you must amass 100 Dwellers (Vault Inhabitants). The fastest way to get more Dwellers is by having them reproduce. Put a man and woman in the living quarters and let the magic happen. It takes 3 hours for the child to be born and another 3 hours for it to grow up to be an adult. That’s 6 hours total per Dweller. After a little game progress you can also build a Radio Studio to call for new Dwellers and build the Overseer’s Office to embark on rescue quests (these usually yield Dwellers with higher stats).
Just with the reproduction method you can get to 100 rather quickly. |
||
Armed and Dangerous Collect 20 Legendary Weapons |
||
This and getting 20 Legendary Outfits are among the most time-consuming trophies in the game. Legendary is the highest rarity level. Duplicates count too. They don’t have to be 20 different weapons.
The best ways to get Legendary Weapons are:
Easiest way is to skip time for 7 days at once and you will get a lunch box. Must be online for the rewards to work. Simultaneously, send a fully maxed-out Dweller to the Wasteland to explore for legendary parts and then craft them into a weapon. I got 1 Legendary Weapon/Outfit every 5 Lunch Boxes or so. |
||

||
Get Off My Lawn Successfully stop 50 Raider Attacks |
||
From time to time, Raiders will randomly attack your Vault. Simply have your inhabitants defeat them. Be sure everyone on the top floors has a weapon and heal those people with Stimpacks while they’re in combat. Raider Attacks only happen while you’re in-game and actively playing.
The problem with this is when your Vault grows too big, there are almost no Raider attacks happening anymore and instead you’re attacked by Ghouls and Deathclaws. Therefore, the best strategy is to keep the Vault at 25-30 Dwellers maximum (and about 3 floors deep). Then give the people on top floor some good weapons and stay in-game to let attacks happen. You may need to start a new vault for this. |
||
Overachieve Much? Complete 100 objectives |
||
To view objectives press and then click the third icon from the top (ribbon symbol). There are 3 objectives active at the same time. You can press on the ones you don’t like to switch them out for something else. They are easy side tasks such as “Equip 1 Dweller with a Weapon”. Things that you do through natural gameplay anyway.
For trophy they can be repeat objectives. Completing the same one(s) multiple times counts. |
||
Atom Splitter Merge 3 Power Rooms |
||
Simply build 3 Power Rooms next to each other in a row.
Dine and Dash Merge 3 Food Rooms |
||
Simply build 3 Food Rooms next to each other in a row.
Project Purity Merge 3 Water Rooms |
||
Simply build 3 Water Rooms next to each other in a row.
Prepared For The Future Make 25 Babies |
||
You can make babies by putting male and female Dwellers in the living quarters. When you see two of them talking to each other, they will make a baby after a while. Once the woman is pregnant it takes 3 hours for the baby to be born (another 3 hours will make it grow up to an adult but that’s not needed for the trophy).
Some Dweller’s aren’t interested in each other so your best bet is to put 3 living quarters in a row to make one big room, then stuff 3 men and 3 women in the room and they will automatically pick the person they are interested in. |
||
A Better Future, Underground Upgrade 20 Rooms to Level 3 |
||
Scroll over a room and press to upgrade it. Building lots of cheap one-tile living quarters / power generators / diners / water treatments is the cheapest way. Upgrading costs Caps (money) which you get fastest by rushing rooms and exploring the Wasteland. Level 3 is the highest level a room can be.
Smooth Talker Make 25 Dialogue Choices on Quests |
||
During some quest you can randomly run into other people which will trigger a dialogue with them. It’s random. Should come automatically on the path to 100 Quests (Legend of the Wastes trophy).
You’re Fired! Kill 10 Quest Bosses |
||
Some of the tougher quests will feature bosses. You can start quests at the Overseer’s Office (after building it). This trophy should come automatically on your way to 100 quests completed (Legend of the Wastes trophy).
Wasteland Wanderer Complete 10 Quests |
||
See trophy “Legend of the Wastes”.
Urban Ranger Complete 30 Quests |
||
See trophy “Legend of the Wastes”.
Survivalist Complete 60 Quests |
||
See trophy “Legend of the Wastes”.
Legend of the Wastes Complete 100 Quests |
||
To start quests you must first build the Overseer’s Office (costs 1000 Caps). From there you can start quests. By upgrading the Overseer’s Office you can launch multiple quests simultaneously.
It usually takes a few hours for your Dwellers to arrive at the target destination but you can speed it up with the time skip exploit (as detailed at the start of this guide –> go to PS4 Settings, Change the date & time, no need to exit the game. Your squad will be at the destination instantly). In quests you can send out 3 of your people. Once at the target they must enter a house and you can control them to fight enemies. Be sure to send your strongest Dwellers and give them all your StimPacks and best gear. You can max out their stats in training rooms first via the time skip exploit, then they are pretty much undefeatable. Remember to upgrade the Overseer’s Office to have multiple quests going at the same time. |
||
Paint ‘n Elbow Grease Collect all Fragments of a Theme Recipe |
||
See trophy “Interior Designer”.
Decorator Collect all Fragments of 4 Theme Recipes |
||
See trophy “Interior Designer”.
Interior Designer Craft every Theme |
||
There are 8 Themes in total:
Each Theme consists of 9 Pieces. 8 x 9 = 72 Pieces in total. They are unlocked from Quests (which you start at the Overseer’s Office). You can see Theme Pieces in the quest reward preview so you know what you’ll get before embarking on the quest. More can be found randomly during the quests. After finding all 9 pieces of a theme you can craft it at the Theme Workshop. You can also buy missing theme pieces with Nuka Cola. This is best done at the end when you only have a few theme pieces left and own enough Nuka Cola to buy all that’s missing. In theory, if you have enough Nuka Cola you would never have to find any pieces from quests at all and could straight up buy everything. Nuka Cola is a microtransaction bought from PlayStation Store but you can also find it in-game from lunch boxes (e.g. skip time by 7 days to always get one lunch box). |
||
Enemy of the Wastes Kill 500 enemies on Quests |
||
Quests can be started from the Overseer’s Office. You will encounter enemies very frequently. This should unlock automatically on your path to 100 Quests completed (Legend of the Wastes trophy).
Big Pharma Collect 100 Stimpaks and 100 RadAway on Quests |
||
While on quests you can loot every room you enter after killing all the enemies in it. You’ll see lootable objects have a sparkle in the background. It is HIGHLY recommended you max out the strength stat of your squad, it allows them to open lockboxes that are otherwise inaccessible to weak characters. Even better, max out all their stats in training rooms using the time skip exploit. Then they are pretty much undefeatable.
This is definitely one of the most annoying and time-consuming trophies in the game but if you always loot every room on your path to trophy “Legend of the Wastes” (100 Quests completed) you should get most of this done along the way. Just remember to always loot every room. |
||
Scraptastic Scrap 500 items |
||
This is going to be one of the most tedious trophies by far. You must scrap 500 Weapons or Outfits to get “Junk” out of them (which in turn can be used to craft new items of your choice).
The best way to get weapons is by sending multiple Dwellers with maxed out stats to the Wasteland. Give them a bunch of Stimpacks and skip time until they have died, then recall them to the Vault and skip time again to make them show up instantly. They will bring back a few weapons and Outfits. Collect them (don’t sell!). Then in your vault press and pick the 4th icon from the top (looks like 3 squares). Click on the weapon/outfit and press to scrap it. You will also find a fair amount of weapons/outfits during quests and as quest rewards and even from raiders who attack your vault. Just remember to always scrap weapons/outfits, never sell them. |
||
Weaponsmith Craft 10 Weapons |
||
First you must build the Weapon Workshop. Then craft any 10 weapons. This will costs Junk Items which are found in the Wasteland and during Quests. You can upgrade the workshop to unlock rare & legendary items for crafting.
Fashionista Craft 10 Outfits |
||
First you must build the Outfit Workshop. Then craft any 10 outfits. This will cost Junk Items which are found in the Wasteland and during Quests. You can upgrade the workshop to unlock rare & legendary items for crafting.
More Than Handy Craft an Outfit, a Weapon, and a Theme |
||
*Glitched Trophy + Missable Trophy* In order to get this trophy, do all 3 things in one session without quitting the game: crafting the outfit, weapon and theme. You can use Nuka Cola to speed up the process. Crafting a Theme normally takes 7 days and 9 hours.For this you must have built the Outfit Workshop, Weapon Workshop, Theme Workshop. The last one requires 42 Dwellers, then you can build all 3 facilities.Craft one item at each facility. For the Theme you must first find the 9 fragments of a theme. In total there are 8 Themes x 9 Pieces per Theme = 72 Pieces total. Theme Pieces are from Quests. They are shown as quest rewards in the Overseer’s Office or randomly found during quests. While you go for the 100 completed quests you will find plenty of theme pieces along the way. If you have missing theme pieces you can “buy” them with Nuka Colas.Remember, because this trophy is glitched you must craft an outfit, weapon and theme in the same session without quitting the game. Because of the glitch this also makes it missable. You have to do it before the ‘Interior Designer’ trophy. If you already crafted all themes there’s no way to get this trophy in your vault anymore and you’d have to start a new game. |
||
A Little Off the Top Change the appearance of 10 Dwellers in the Barbershop |
||
The Barbershop unlocks when you have 50 Dwellers in your Vault. Then put 10 different people in it to change their hairstyle. |
James Kearle says
Anyone know if the time glitch works on an Xbox in any way?
Hartia says
You can get the caps bonus and lunch boxes offline as well.
PowerPyx says
I didn’t get them offline.
Do you have to play online first and then switch to offline?
Hartia says
When I tried I was offline before I started the game. I got through the intro. Then skipped 7 days and in game it (sometimes) gave me the caps and box right away. Other times it just took an extra ten seconds as if the game froze to get the rewards.
Final_Fantasy79 says
Can you give a little detail on the word S.P.E.C.I.A.L and how each letter represents a power for the dweller? Can’t find it anywhere.
PowerPyx says
Sure, I’m gonna add a note about it somewhere.
It’s this:
S = Strength –> Wasteland: used to open Lockboxes and deal more damage. Vault: production speed in power rooms / nuclear reactor.
P = Perception –> Wasteland: needed to discover locations that you can enter (better chance at legendary gear), also increases critical hit rate (more damage). Vault: production speed in water treatment / water purification.
E = Endurance –> Wasteland: increases health gained per level (best stat to increase first!
C = Charisma –> Wasteland: needed to successfully pass certain events that feature other people. Vault: speed up time in Radio Studio and faster reproduction speed in living quarters.
I = Intelligence –> Wasteland: needed to successfully pass certain events that feature wounded people. Also deals more damage to robotic enemies. Increases chance of finding StimPacks / RadAway (especially on quests). Vault: speed up time in Medbays and Science Labs.
L = Luck –> Wasteland: find more caps and better loot (better chance at rare / legendary). Also speeds up critical meter fill rate (especially on quests). Vault: Increases odds when rushing a room, also gives more caps when successfully rushing a room.
Rudi says
I think in the reply the “A” of Agility was forgotten …
Matias says
Do you think this skipping time glitch will be fixed sometime?
PowerPyx says
It could. Since there is no disc version of this game it will always auto-download the latest patch when you download the game from PS Store.
The only way they can really prevent it though is to make the game online-only and let everything go through cloud saves. I think Bethesda has better things to do and given that this is possible in every version of the game, they don’t seem to care.
Lewis says
Could I Just keep skipping 7 days with the clock on ps4 to build up lunch boxes?
PowerPyx says
Yes.
Firedemon says
My vault has 103 people and I’m seeing almost no raider attacks. If I started a second vault, will this add to my mear 22 raider attacks? Trying to find a way to boost these numbers.
Thank you so much for this guide by the way and all the guides that you do.
PowerPyx says
The raider attacks indeed halt when the vault grows too strong.
It’s best to make a new one and keep it at around 25-30 people & 3 floors deep. Don’t know if the progress carries over between vaults.
Dave says
More Than Handy hasn’t unlocked for me. Think there’s more to it. Can you help?
PowerPyx says
I did some digging and this trophy is currently glitchy.
However, it’s supposed to unlock when you do all 3 things in one session (craft the theme, outfit & weapon without leaving the game).
Let me know if that fixes it for you.
James says
I craft one of every thing tonight (outfit weapon and theme )saved closed out game set time to 4 day ahead then went back in to game and collected all 3 in that log in and got the More Then Handy Trophy So it may not be Glitchy any more
Yusuf says
Regarding the 50 raiders attack i notice that every time you skip a day and collect your daily reward, attack or random incidents will occur after 5-10 minutes. Seems faster
Lazar says
Do the legendary dwellers count as legendary weapon + legendary outfit for the trophies?
PowerPyx says
No.
Lazar says
Ahh, well, thanks for the reply.
Bruh says
They do count, I know this for a fact because I got the achievement for the legendary outfits after opening a lunchbox and getting a legendary dweller that had a legendary article of clothing
Christian says
Does the time glitch still works?
Thanks for replying :]
Eric says
Yes, still working!
Dave says
That did fix it for me for More Than Handy. For we know if Raider attacks Carrie’s across multiple playthroughs?
Bob says
Would like to know this… as my game glitched out and can no longer do the time skip
Donnie says
Maybe a stupid question about the complete 100 quests trophy. Do you need to complete a whole set of quests for it to count as 1 completed?
Alex says
One important information about the time skip exploit: it may freeze the game, for me it happened twice. I had to restart the game to make it back to work again.
PowerPyx says
It should unfreeze after 10-20 seconds. Just keep the game running for a while.
Alex says
great, thanks!
Jason says
It freezes because the CPU is calculating all the changes. You just have to wait. The more time you skip or the more people you have in the vault, more time the “freeze” (calculations) will take.
PowerPyx says
^
Exactly what Jason said.
Lino says
The maximum amount of stimpakc I can have in the warehouse is 15?
It does not keep me more.
PowerPyx says
You need to build more of the StimPack-producing rooms or upgrade the existing one(s).
Alex says
ATENTION!!! There is YES one missable trophy! You MUST do the More Than Handy trophy BEFORE the Interior Designer, because if you craft all the themes, won’t remain any more to craft along with the weapon and the outfit!
PowerPyx says
True. The fact that More Than Handy is glitchy was only found later and I forgot about that.
Igor says
Actually, I’ve got trophies for 20 Legendary weapons ans outfits only when I had 20 unique outfits and weapons, so duplicates don’t count.
PowerPyx says
Duplicates count. I tested this for both trophies. For the last 5 I kept producing the same weapon/outfit.
Unless they patched it, which would be weird since duplicates counted on the older Steam / Windows versions as well.
WeelyTM says
I agree with Igor. The Stats section says I have 22 legendary weapons and 22 legendary outfits, but neither trophy has popped. If I count up the number of legendary cards flipped over in the Survival Guide section, I have 16 unique legendary outfits and 18 unique legendary weapons.
SetoKaiba says
I digged a lot of researches of the “Get of my lawn” trophy but in the end i didn’t get any information for fixing this trophy so i hope you have the answer , I have 29 dwellers and like anybody knows the raiders well atack instantly with the time but with me they stopped atacking at the 42 , I let the game run for 2 days stright waiting for the 43th attack to begain but nothing happens , Its the last trophy for me to get this platinum and i work so hard for it, I got desperate after your statement and exactly after the ‘you may replay the game for this trophy’ line so is there any option except doing the replay thing?
Phil says
Hahahahahaha amazing exploit lmao genius
