The hidden NPC called Fire Knight Queelign has a secret side questline in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. This walkthrough shows the full solution. Completing this questline rewards you with either Queelign’s Greatsword or Queelign’s Ashes, depending on your final choice.
This questline can still be done after the Point of No Return (after burning the Sealing Tree at Church of the Bud).
Walkthrough
Step 1: Kill Fire Knight Queelign (red invader enemy) at “Church of the Crusade”, located northwest of Site of Grace: Highroad Cross. Approach the altar inside the church and the red invader will spawn. He hits hard but doesn’t have much health.
Step 2: Kill Fire Knight Queelign at “Belurat, Tower Settlement”. From Site of Grace: Small Private Altar, leave the room and go up the stairs northwest where a samurai with 2 swords walks around. Take the next right turn, heading northeast. He drops “Ash of War: Flame Skewer” and “Prayer Room Key”. The Prayer Room key is needed for the next step to find Queelign in the Church District Prayer Room.
Step 3: Go to Church District and open the Prayer Room to find the real Fire Knight Queelign. To get to Church District you need to go through Moorth Ruins (east of Castle Ensis / southeast of Shadow Keep) > through Bonny Village > follow the path to the east all the way until you reach Site of Grace: Church District Entrance. The path is outlined below.
From Site of Grace: Church District Entrance, jump down to the rooftops > jump from roofs to ruins wall > to next roof until you reach a fire mage enemy > to the left of him you can jump on the pillar leading up to the next roof > the rooftop is broken, drop down onto the beams > drop down to the next floor and you’ll find the door to “Prayer Room” in the northeast corner. It’s a brown door that looks like a prison cell.
On the floor of the Prayer Room you will see Queelign. Talk to him. There are two outcomes here: giving him an Iris of Grace unlocks “Ashes: Fire Knight Queelign” (ashen spirits you can summon), giving him “Iris of Occultation” unlocks “Queelign’s Greatsword” (weapon). One reward locks you out of the other, so choose which one you prefer (see screenshots below). Afterward Queelign disappears and the questline is finished.
Iris of Grace:
- Reward received from Queelign: Fire Knight Queelign ashes (Ashen Spirits you can summon)
- Location: Shadow Keep > Storehouse, First Floor – from the site of grace go left and down the elevator. Go to next room downstairs to find it on the altar.
Iris of Occultation:
- Reward received from Queelign: Queelign’s Greatsword (heavy thrusting sword melee weapon)
- Location: Scadu Altus > Moorth Highway, South > Fort of Reprimand – after entering Fort of Reprimand turn left and jump down the hole, it leads to a dark underground room with strong dual-sword wielding enemy. Defeat this enemy, he drops the Iris.
This finishes the questline of Fire Knight Queelign.
