Mimic Tear is an Ashen Remain in Elden Ring, allowing you to summon a spirit that copies all your equipment and available combat moves. It is generally considered the best summon in the game, especially when fully upgraded it becomes very tanky and can solo entire bosses. If you equip only a single spell, or a single weapon with a specific skill, then your Mimic Tear will almost exclusively use that one attack. If you have multiple spells or weapons equipped it may switch between them. Wearing a heavy armor and defensive talismans yourself can further help to keep the Mimic Tear alive for longer. It makes some bosses completely trivial, or at least halves the difficulty of every boss. The downside is that summoning the Mimic Tear takes away some of your health. It is best used at the start of a boss fight, then you can immediately heal yourself back to full health and have the Mimic assist you throughout the entire fight. It can be upgraded at Roundtable Hold at the Ashen upgrader using Ghost Gloveworts. It also counts as a Legendary Ashen Remain.
This guide explains where to find the Mimic Tear Ashen Remains location. Do not confuse with the boss having the same name – for the Mimic Tear boss (unrelated to the Ashens) refer to Elden Ring Boss Guide.
1. Enter Nokron, Eternal City
Nokron Eternal City becomes available after defeating Shardbearer Radahn, one of the main bosses in the game, accessed through Redmane Castle in the south of Caelid.
After defeating Shardbearer Radahn, head to Fort Haight in Limgrave. To the north-west of Fort Haight a hole will have opened up, it has rocks floating in the skies above it so you can easily spot it from a distance. Drop down the cliffs around the hole to a point where the fall doesn’t kill you, then ride all the way down and jump from one rock to the next to reach the entrance of Nokron. The exact entry point of the hole is circled below, along the way you also encounter the Mimic Tear boss see the video below:
2. At Ancestral Woods Jump over to Rooftops
After defeating the Mimic Tear boss, cross the bridge and head left to find the Ancestral Woods site of grace. Rest there to create a checkpoint. Then jump off the cliffs by the site of grace and over to the rooftops, shown below:
3. Follow the Rooftops until you reach the Bottom
You must jump from one roof to the next, then go across a ruined wall and drop down into a cathedral building, called Night’s Sacred Ground.
4. Use Imp Statue inside Cathedral
Inside the Cathedral, before dropping down to where an enemy mage rolls a stole ball at you, there’s a side path leading to a white mist wall with an imp statue in front. Enter a Stonesword Key in the statue to make the mist go away. Behind it you find a chest containing the Mimic Tear Ashen Remains.
That’s all there is to finding the Mimic Tear Ashen Remains in Elden Ring.
