Starting Location: X13
Talk /Fight (Depends on prior choices and actions)
The first part of this quest is dependent on prior actions, so different people will show up at the start depending on what ending path you were on. For example, if you choose to believe the Colonel and didn’t let the Peacekeepers in, then they will show up to try and stop you before you can get to X13.
But, if you had done the actions to reinstate the Nightrunners, then they will show up to scare away the Peacekeepers.
If they don’t, then you will fight the Peacekeepers, or if you went with the Peacekeeper path then you will fight a group of Renegades.
Whatever happens here doesn’t have much bearing on the rest of the mission, so you just complete the dialogue or fight then move to the next objective.
Find the tunnel entrance
Make your way towards the large gas cloud to search for the tunnel entrance. To reach it you will need to move into the building rubble, dropping down towards the lowest level.
Enter the tunnel
Once you reach far enough into the cloud Aiden will partially turn, but you don’t actually need to kill infected. Just make your way to the lowest level then towards the door which will be marked when you get near.
Get to X13
After a scene, you will wake up outside the city, and need to make your way towards X13.
Continue following the objective towards the wall. When you enter the tunnel Aiden will partially turn again, but you still don’t need to actually deal with any of the infected here, just run towards the other end of the tunnel.
Continue on the road until you see the broken railing on the side, then head up the cliffs to the left and into the cave.
You can then make your way over to the next road and into X13.
Head to the back of the tunnel and interact with the button beside the elevator.
Lawan shows up, and you both go inside X13.
Wait for Lawan
The door closes, with only Lawan getting in. You need to wait for her to open the doors for you to progress.
Join Lawan
The first door on the right leads to a room with some items, then the second one is the one you actually need to go through to progress.
Follow the hallways, and you will reach a room with some infected attacking a group of Renegades. Deal with all of them, then head through the door on the other side of the room.
Continue through the hallway to meet up with Lawan again.
Kill the Renegades
After some discussion with Lawan, you will enter a room and be attacked by a group of Renegades.
After a short period, the lights will go out, causing Aiden to partially turn, allowing you to smack the Renegades and Volatiles that appear in the room around.
Get back to Lawan
After all the enemies are dealt with, go back out the door you came in to check on Lawan.
If you had done the “good” story options prior and Hakon was still around, he will also show up.
Find Waltz
After the conversation is done, you will be back in the prior room and need to continue looking for Waltz.
You will want to watch out while you are in here because there will be a bunch more Volatiles that have now appeared. You can basically just run to the objective and through the gap in the door at the end, there’s not really anything worth messing around to grab in the rooms where the Volatiles can reach you.
Continue through the double doors at the end of the hallway. In this section, there will be a bunch of collectibles to grab, though if you miss them it’s not that big of a deal because you are given them all automatically once you finish the story if you missed them.
In the first room where you see the flashback of Aiden and Mia and Aiden looks at the birthday card, you can grab the first memento off the bed on the opposite side of the room.
Memento – X13 Medical Chart: Wayne
Then a letter directly to the right of it.
Memento – X13 child’s letter to his mom
Then a third item from the stool in the middle of the room.
Memento – Medical Chart: Gabriel
Exit back out the double doors, and continue further down the hallway. There will be a left turn, then go straight through the next set of double doors to reach another room with beds where there will be 3 more mementos. The first is on the bed on the left.
Memento – X13 Medical Chart: Wendy
Then the second across the room on the table at the foot of the bed on the right.
Memento – X13 Medical Chart: Oskar
And the third on the table to the right of the bed on the left.
Memento – X13 Medical Chart: Charles
Continue down the hallway again, then through the door on the right, you will see another set of flashback scenes. In the room with the operating table you are in after the scenes end will have the final two collectibles. on The counter at the end.
X13 child’s poem addressed to Dr. Waltz
Memento – X13 Medical Chart: Petra
Continue out into the hallway and through the rest of the doors. In the large open area you can follow footprints on the ground with Survivor Sense through into the next area.
In this room, there will be some more Renegades to deal with. They aren’t aware of you when you enter, so you can take them out in stealth if you like.
Continue following the footprints through the rooms.
Chase Waltz
You will reach a point where you see Waltz going through a door, and he tells two Renegades to stop you.
Deal with them, then follow after Waltz into the hallway. Another big guy will try to stop you, but you can make quick work of him too.
Interact with the door at the end of the hallway for some more scenes, then continue down the stairs and through the next hallway.
Kill Waltz
You finally are at the time where you fight Waltz for real, but unfortunately, this is a bit of a tedious 4 phase long boss fight.
Phase 1:
For this first phase, you are only fighting on this circular raised platform. He basically does all the same moves as when you fought him at the observatory, so swings with his arms, then sweeps forward for ranged attacks, or jumps in the air for area attacks.
Basically circle around him, dodging his swings and getting hits in from behind. If he jumps in the air dodge backward to avoid the AoE slam.
Phase 2:
Once you get his health down most of the way, he knows you down to the lower level and regains all of his health. This is probably the most tedious part of the boss fight, as what he basically does is run around the area avoiding you, then runs towards you out of the smoke to attack you. He normally runs to the THV areas around the arena, then will run out trying to swing at you.
Some infected will also appear in the area during the fight, and you should more worry about them first because they actively chase you at all times until they’re gone, then try to take swings at Waltz as he appears. Watch out for your immunity as well, because if you accidentally go into the THV areas it drains your immunity fairly quickly.
Phase 3:
After draining his health most of the way again, he will regain all of his health and then jump between the higher platforms in the area.
The main thing to do here is follow him around the platforms, which he will jump between after you do certain amounts of damage. He will also through rocks at you if you are not on the same platform as him, but otherwise does mostly the same attacks.
The main thing to actually watch out for is his attacks that do knockback, as he can knock you off the edges of platforms, which can kill you, especially the fourth platform which is the small triangular-shaped one. Try and keep your back to the wall so he doesn’t knock you off. If you do die you only have to restart the current phase, not redo the whole thing.
Phase 4:
This is the final phase, and also the easiest and most fun. Walz regains all his health once more, but Aiden also partially turns. All you need to do first is follow him back across the platforms to ground level, then smack him around until he dies. The THV doesn’t affect you in this state, so you can just keep smacking him and get him stuck in a corner and you’re basically done.
Stop the missiles from launching
After some scenes, Aiden will automatically try stopping the missiles from launching using the computer. You then have your final choice of the game.
Choosing “Let Lawan detonate the bombs.” results in you going to the Rescue Mia objective. NOTE that if Hakon had shown up earlier in the mission, he will go after Lawan, resulting in her not dying, meaning this is the “best” choice in that situation.
Choosing “Save Lawan” results in you being given the dialogue option a second time as Lawan and Waltz both attempt to talk you into the other option, but choosing “Save Lawan” a second time results in you you going to the XHelp Lawan to stop the missile strikes objective.
Rescue Mia
Interact with Mia on the bed to pick her up. There is no more gameplay after this, picking her up is the final thing you do before the end of the game.
Help Lawan to stop the missile strikes
Follow the objective markers out of the room, and into the room with the missiles.
You will need to jump to the first platform, then climb on the sides of the missiles to continue higher.
Jump to the platform with Lawan, then there won’t be any more gameplay, just the scenes leading into the end of the game.
