There are 63 Tape Collectible Recording Locations in Dying Light 2. Finding all Collectible Recordings (called Tapes in-game) unlocks the Audiophile trophy or achievement.
It is highly recommended to frequently use Survival Sense to mark nearby collectibles with a golden dot. Especially when the story or side quests require you to enter buildings or tunnels, always scan for collectibles. Some story areas become inaccessible or hard to get back to later, then the only way to get back there is via Co-Op. There are also Side Quest exclusive Collectibles, see the Collectible Roadmap below for the semi-missable Side Quests (can still replay them in Co-Op if missed). There is no New Game+ which means you need all Collectibles on a single save file. If you missed anything from a story area you can still get it in Co-Op by joining someone else’s game.
You can keep track of your Collectible Progress under the “Collectables Menu”. Each item has a unique name so you can compare your findings against the list here to see what you’re missing.

- AFTER MAIN QUEST 11: A PLACE TO CALL HOME: Memento #75: Avery’s Map – the side quest “To Kill or Not To Kill” is there right away for some players, but for others it only spawns after the story or never spawns at all (potentially a bug). Check for it after every main quest. If it never spawns in your game, use the ‘Find Game’ Co-Op Search to join someone who has it.

If you are on top of the VNC tower by the hideout, you have to look west and fall off a couple floors and use momentum to fly into a window. There is a safe and inhibitor in there. On a desk will be a tape possibly called Carl’s Journal. Hope this helps.

I think i finally figured how the “To Kill or Not to Kill” and “Rats in the House” missions works. At least i finally did both on my second game for the collectibles.
So, on this second run i arrived to the second city and ONLY FOCUSED on the main missions “A Place To Call Home”, “Orders” and “Observatory”. Nothing more.
When you get about half way on “Observatory” you will get a call for the Secondary mission “Renegades” AND THIS MISSION IN MISSABLE. Just go to some places, kill enemies and free some NPC.
After that i completed the main mission “Observatory” and “Welcome on Board” started.
Then i get inside the ship of main mission “Welcome on Board” quest to talk whit Carrier 2 for the Carriers quest AND THEN “Rats in the House” mission was available on the “fish bar”. Just talk to the bartender to start it, GET INTO THE METRO STATION AND ACTIVE IT, talk to the bartender and finish quest.
Then i did a fast travel to Baazar and the ! icon of “To Kill or Not to Kill” was in the bar.
I think the most important steps are:
1- DO NOT active Metro under “fish bar” when you first arrive.
2- Focus ONLY on main mission till you get to “Observatory”, and COMPLETE the Renegade mission when it appear when you are going to the Observatory.
3- Complete “Observatory” and when “Welcome on Board” check if you have the “Rats in the House quest” and COMPLETE IT.
4- Fast travel to Baazar, fast travel to “fish bar” and “To Kill or Not to Kill” will be available

quest progress in someone else’s lobby doesn’t transfer over to your game. Your best bet is to join someone who is either late in the Carriers questline already (preferably on Carriers X), or find someone who has already completed the Carriers questline and grab the collectibles that way (this can be a bit harder through matchmaking as you’ll just have to jump into random lobbies and check to see if they’ve done the quests)

The carrier collectible you can as they are open world collectibles, so those areas can be accessed after those quests to grab them. The quiz ones you won’t be able to however as those are quest rewards so you have to be present at the time of quest completion.

The ‘Audiophile’ trophy is also glitched for me. I have a backup save of 62/63 tapes, but no matter how many times I try, it won’t unlock.

Tape 46 can’t be collected after now or never, I missed out because I was following the steps at the top of this guide and figured I could get it before x13 after now or never but you can’t go off the set path after now or never leading to x13. Just be careful if anyone sees this.

Frank tape #1 is missable, cant get in the room after the game is completed

This guide should say that No.40 is missable. You cannot access the room before or after Breakthrough and you have to help Frank and pick it up when in the room.

The 6th point in missable collectibles is really missleading… Since it became inacessible after the EPILOGUE which is included in 5th point. I would change it or make the 5th and 6th point combined in one.
