The Stolen Throne is a main quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Stolen Throne main mission.
- Starting Location: Vernworth > The Stardrop Inn
- Quest Giver: Captain Brant
- Requirement: Finished Main Quest: Seat of the Sovran, arrived in Vernworth
- Reward: Wakestone + 6500 Gold
- Quest Description: You are to attend a masquerade and seek an opportunity to draw near the false Sovran. But in order to gain entry to the masquerade hall, you must first dress in formal raiment and don a mask.
Objectives:
- Approach the False Sovran
- Report back to Captain Brant
Starting Location: The Stolen Throne
To start this quest, go to “The Stardrop Inn” in Vernworth, talk to the barkeeper and choose to pass the time until it’s night. Then talk to Captain Brant who is standing at the bar, he will walk outside to the balcony. Follow him and talk to him again to accept a series of main quests. He will give you the Eventide Mask which you need to equip for the Masquerade.
Approach the False Sovran
Step 1: First, you must obtain a “Formal Raiment” to attend the masquerade. You must find and equip the Courtly Tunic & Courtly Breaches.
Courtly Tunic (Formal Raiment): found in Vernworth > Noble Quarter > Comptroller’s Home. Upstairs in the bedroom on the right.
Courtly Breaches: found in Vernworth > Noble Quarter > Comptroller’s Home. In the same house, upstairs in the other bedroom at the end of the hallway.
Step 2: Equip all armor pieces “Courtly Tunic” + “Courtly Breaches” + “Eventide Mask” (mask was given at start of quest).
Step 3: At night go to Vernworth Castle > Vernworth Hall. You reach the castle by going up the path through Noble Quarter. At the exit of Noble Quarter is a bench where you can sit down to advance time, just before the castle entrance. The Vernworth Hall is where the masquerades are being held, in the west section of the Castle area. Entering with the full armor set equipped also unlocks Nobles’ Night Out. Note that Masquerades only happen every 2 nights. If there’s not Masquerade that night, sit down at the bench outside the Castle in Noble Quarter to skip time until the next night.
Step 4: After entering the hall you will get a short cutscene where you see the False Sovran walk down the hallway. Go to the hallway in the back and walk against the wall. The wall is a secret passageway, it will open when you walk against it. You don’t need to talk to the Masquerade Guests, the Sovran is not there, he’s at the end of the path behind the secret wall door.
Step 5: Follow the path behind the secret wall to the Rose Chateau. You can only go one way here. Then you get a series of cutscenes. During these you gain proof that the king is a pretender. Now all that remains is to report back to the quest giver.
Report back to Captain Brant
Return to Captain Brant at night in The Stardrop Inn. Talk to him and report your findings on the Masquerade to complete the quest.
This finishes The Stolen Throne main quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

I don’t know how, but this is missable, I never got this quest for some reason. It looks like the only way for me to get this is NG+ now
