The Guardian Gigantus is a main quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Guardian Gigantus main mission.
- Starting Location: Flamebearer Palace
- Quest Giver: Ambrosius
- Requirement: having completed A New Godsway
- Reward: 19000 XP (only if you fight against Gigantus)
- Quest Description: Ambrosius has instructed you to pass the Godsbane blade he crafted from a relic of the Forgotten Sovran into the hands of Lord Phaesus.
Objectives:
- Take the Godsbane to Phaesus
- You encountered the gigantus
POINT OF NO RETURN WARNING: After going to the first quest marker in this quest you are put on the ending path. It is highly advisable to make an “Inn Save” beforehand (rest at inn), as you can still clean up side content before this point. You can reload the inn save after the endings from the Title Screen to go back and clean up side tasks.
PREPARATION FOR HIGHLY MISSABLE TROPHY COMING UP: To defeat Gigantus in a short amount of time for Gigantus, I Hardly Knew Ye you must use an Unmaking Arrow on him for an instakill. You must buy this from the Dragonborne for 8 Wyrmslife Crystals before starting the next quest You must also switch to Archer class. Otherwise you will not be able to use the arrow and miss the trophy/achievement. Here’s the Dragonborne selling this item:
Starting Location: The Guardian Gigantus
Take the Godsbane to Phaesus
Just follow the quest marker, a short cutscene will start and introduce you to Gigantus.
The highly missable Gigantus, I Hardly Knew Ye takes place here. Refer to the below video:
You encountered the gigantus
The goal here is to defeat gigantus. To defeat him, you have to first destroy the glowing spikes on his body before he actually takes real damage. If you want the trophy for defeating him in a short amount of time you must play as archer, use a bow + Unamking Arrow. Fire one arrow at his upper body and he will shed off his purple crystals and drops his spear before throwing it at the bridge. You must be fast and rush to him while he’s still in the deep water, before he throws the spear to destroy the bridge. He won’t instantly die, he keeps walking for 6 minutes but all structures along the way will remain intact. Then he drops dead 1-2 minutes after leaving the water and the trophy pops.
Regular Method without Unmaking Arrow:
If you don’t have an Unmaking Arrow or don’t care about the trophy/achievement, you can do it the regular way by shooting his weak spots, the purple shards around his body. But this won’t kill him fast enough and he will likely destroy structures along the way. You could also technically ignore him and not fight him at all but he will destroy structures on the Volcanic Island and you’d miss out on his XP reward.
He will take the following path.
He will walk very slowly, giving you enough time to make some preparations. You can shoot the spikes with ranged weapons. You can also climb on him, if you walk close to him and slams his hand on the ground.
There are also ballistas on the higher paths which you can use to shoot the spikes.
Halfway through the mission, NPCs will join and shoot gigantus too. If you completely stay away from Gigantus and let the NPCs kill him. Once he is down, follow the quest marker to the Moonglint Tower Entrance, this will start a cutscene. The wooden gate will be closed until Gigantus has fallen.
This finishes The Guardian Gigantus main quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
For all other Quests refer to Dragon’s Dogma 2 Walkthrough.

You can get the trophy/achievement without using the unmaking arrow.
You need to knock all the crystals off before he reaches the first wooden bridge, near the tower, campsite, and rift stone. He will then reach that point and die, just like if you had used the the arrow.
I used a Magic Archer and did it easily on my second play through . You can knock off some before he even reaches land.

These Unmaking Arrow are complete BS. I had three of them for Talos … THREE! I fired all three of them at it, and I didn’t get the insta-kill. I shot it once in the side, once in the back, and once on the hand that holds the spear. I’m done with the game. Tired of the BS.
TheIcemanCometh says
Nevermind. I can in fact reload an Inn Save and try again. It’s still BS they don’t seem to work.
