Put a Spring in Thy Step is a side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Put a Spring in Thy Step side mission.
- Starting Location: Agamen Volcanic Island – south path
- Quest Giver: Gautstafr
- Requirement: Reach Agamen Volcanic Island
- Reward: 4800 XP, 23,000 G, Laurel Circlet, Magick Archer vocation, Spellbow’s Paradox scroll (Magick Archer Maister’s Teaching)
- Quest Description: While traveling in the south, you encountered an old dwarf with an achy back, groaning in pain by the wayside. It would be most unseemly if you were to abandon him to his plight.
Objectives:
- Find some wildflowers
- Deliver the wildflowers
- Visit Gautstafr’s home for a reward
- Escort Gautstafr to Geyser Hamlet
Starting Location: Put a Spring in Thy Step
To start this quest, follow along the south path leading into Agamen Volcanic Island (the path going through Drabnir’s Grotto). Along the path you should encounter a dwarf complaining about his back, speak with him to start the quest.
Find some wildflowers
Gautstafr is having back problems, and wants some wildflowers to help with the pain. You can give him any type of wildflower or herb, including ones like Pityworty which you should be able to find along the path nearby.
Deliver the wildflowers
Once you have obtained any three items that fit, return them to Gautstafr and turn them in.
Visit Gautstafr’s home for a reward
He now wants you to come visit him at his house, which is just to the north on a small island if you follow the path nearby, walking over the shallow area leading through the water.
After the scene, go into the house where Gautstafr will have injured himself again. Speak with him and offer to escort him.
Escort Gautstafr to Geyser Hamlet
You now need to accompany Gautstafr to the Geyser Hamlet location, which is about halfway into the island from his house.
He moves fast for someone who just injured himself again, but you do have to stay close to him or he’ll tell you to slow down. He also won’t help in combat and will just hang back, so you need to deal with any enemies along the way yourself to have him continue. You can also just carry him by pressing

The quest marker will be on top of a hill to the side of the road. To reach it, go to the end of the road to enter Volcanic Island Camp. Then go up the wooden ramps and climb up the ladder to reach the top. Once you reach the hot spring there will be a scene completing the quest. You can pay 100 Gold to sit in the hot spring yourself which unlocks 
This’ll Cure What Ails Ye.
For completing the quest you also unlock the Magick Archer vocation and the Magick Archer Maister Teaching.
