This guide explains how to duplicate (dupe) any items in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This works for any item, for example it lets you get infinite Ferrystones and Portcrystals to fast travel as much as you want. Using this you can also receive the strongest endgame weapons/armor from a friend who has finished the game and equip it yourself. This method also allows you to receive trophy-specific items like the Preserved Medusa’s Head and the Dragon’s Dogma sword, which instantly unlocks their trophies. For this method to work, you need to play online and a friend who assists.
When you do this for the first time, you may want to do it once or twice with a common item to understand the process, before duping the rarest items like Portcrystals.
The general strategy is to use Pawn Quests to move items from one player to the other. The player who provides the items backs up their save and then copies it back to repeatedly give the items to the other player’s pawn. Then the other player sleeps at an inn/bed to receive the rewards.
This strategy works best on PS5 and the duper must have a PS+ subscription to back up & restore their save game. It can also be done on other platforms but on Xbox it’s trickier to back up and restore saves and on Steam there are reports it can break your game due to Denuvo anti-cheat engine seeing restored saves as a whole new game activation. If you have never done save game backups/restores you should practice this first on other games, if you do this wrong it can wipe your game progress. On PS5 it works perfectly every time without issue but on other platforms we don’t recommend it unless you know what you are doing (you might lose your entire progress on Xbox/Steam. You have been warned).
What both players must do:
- Go to System > Options > Network > Network Features = ON / Data Processing = ON (this ensures you are connected to the online services)
Here’s what the person that needs the items must do:
- Go to Vernworth
- Go to the large Rifstone
- Interact with it to enter the Riftworld
- In the Riftworld, interact with the Rifstone again
- Select “Set a Pawn Quest” –> If your pawn quest is grayed out: you must sleep once at an inn (or in your house if you bought one) while your main pawn is alive, and while connected to online services. If you never slept at an inn you must do it now. Each time you rest at an inn/bed it updates your pawn level in the Rift for other online players and it gives you any rewards your pawn brought back from other people’s games if they were hired. It will only work if your main pawn is alive (if it died you can revive it by entering the Riftstone). Caution: If your pawns contracted Dragon’s Plague they will go rogue and wipe out all NPCs in the town, you can check this by looking at their eyes. If they got red eyes they have the plague. To make sure your pawns are plague-free, dismiss the 2 hired pawns by talking to them, then kill your main pawn by throwing it off a cliff (R2/RT to carry and R1/RB to throw). Let the main pawn bleed out, then revive it at the riftstone and it should be free of the plague.
- Select Request for Other player > Acquire item > choose the item that you want to duplicate > select the highest amount “9”
- Select Reward for Other Player > Gold > Reward for Other Player to 1 Gold
- Confirm
- Leave Riftworld and go to your house (unlocked from Side Quest: A Place to Call Home), but DON’T interact with your bed yet
After these first 9 steps are done, here’s what the person that gives you the items must do:
- Back up your save game – on PS5 you will need a PS+ subscription and upload your save to the Cloud. Make sure you disable Auto-sync!
- Go to Vernworth
- Go to the large Rifstone near the main square
- Interact with it to enter the Riftworld
- In the Riftworld, interact with the Rifstone again
- Select Search for a Pawn > Friends’ Pawns > choose the pawn of your friend > Summon Pawn (you must have added each other to friends list)
- While still in the Riftworld, look for the Pawn you’ve just summoned and hire them for 0 RC to put them in your party
- Interact with the Pawn again and Gift them the item your friend had requested
- Talk to the Pawn again and this time choose to dismiss them and give them a parting gift (a Portcrystal for example)
- Repeat steps 4 to 9 for as many parting gifts as you want
- Leave the Riftstone world
- Dismiss Pawn again if for some reason they left the Riftworld with you
- Go into the Inn and sleep
- Quit game and restore the backup save you made in Step 1 –> highly recommended you practice this on other games a few times, if you make a mistake in backing up & restoring your saves it can mess up your game files
After the person giving you the items has completed the steps above, here’s what the person needing the items must do:
- Go to sleep in the bed in your house. It won’t work if you sleep at campfires or on benches.
- Your Pawn will come back with the requested items
- Set a new Pawn Quest with the same item you need
Then simply repeat the steps. The recipient of the items just needs to reissue the same Pawn Quest, wait in front of bed, then sleep after the Duper has given the items. The duper must always restore the save, reboot game, fulfill the Pawn Quest through the above steps. After you get the hang of it you can do each cycle in 2-3 minutes. It’s most efficient after the duper has duplicated 9 of them items you want. Then you can always dupe them in stacks of 9 instead of just 1.
Because the person giving you the items can restore their saves through the PS+ Cloud Save, you can theoretically keep going until you have stacks of 99 of any item both in your inventory and in your storage. Now have fun placing Portcrystals everywhere!

How to do this on Xbox ?
PowerPyx says
On Xbox: To force a cloud save where you want it to occur, disconnect yourself from the internet > move around in-game whilst disconnected from internet for a few seconds > reconnect yourself back to the internet > now it will force a cloud save > (double-check that it really uploaded to the cloud) > do the dupe WITHOUT EXITING THE GAME (exiting the game may overwrite cloud save!) and stay online > when done press Home-Button > scroll down to Dragon’s Dogma 2 > press Options > Manage Game > Saved Data > click Gamertag > Delete Saved Data > Delete from Console > if it still shows the save, delete it again until it’s gone > press Home-Button and restart the game > it will now sync/download your backup save from cloud.
I DON’T recommend doing this on Xbox unless you absolutely know what you are doing and have done this method many times, you can easily mess up your save with this and lose all your progress. Do not attempt this the first time with Dragon’s Dogma 2. Use some other game and try this several times until you are confident that the method works for you. Only then you should try it in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you don’t want to lose 50 hours of progress.
I’d only do it early game if you have a friend who can dupe you things right away. In late game it’s not worth the risk of losing your save imo.

Has this changed since they put the update through?
PowerPyx says
No, and there’s a good chance it will not be patched (at least not fully). The same method worked in the first game.
Pawn Quests and Gift-giving are an intentionally built-in game feature. They would have to completely remove pawn quest rewards and the ability to give gifts. Even if they were to put a cap on it, you could still do it to some extent or do it with multiple accounts to get around it. Since it’s a singleplayer game it doesn’t hurt anyone else’s experience if you decide to do it.
Hybrid says
Could you possibly do this with two accounts on the same
Console?
SFB says
Speaking to PS5, absolutely. As long as your main account has PS+ for the cloud saves. Then you can use a second dummy account (PS+ not required) as the “mule”. You get your pawn at the border outpost but its worth playing through until you have the house in Vernworth for the free “inn” saves. Be sure to rest at your house after doing all the summoning and gifting to propagate the updates to the server.
I was able to afford the house by setting a pawn quest for 1 of a cheap material (copperstone, which I gifted to the dummy account) and giving a stack of 12 onyx as the reward, which I could then sell.
FWIW, you have to complete the dummy pawn’s default travel quest before you can set a new pawn quest.

Yes that’s what I do

Anyone wanting to do this, add me on PSN

just leave a message saying ‘dd2 items’

If you’re on PC, just get the mod for 999 rare items sold in shops, and cheat engine/trainer for most everything else, way less hassle.
