Crossing in Shadow is a side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Crossing in Shadow side mission.
- Starting Location: Vernworth
- Quest Giver: Vera
- Requirement: Complete A Place to Call Home side quest (to own a home in Vernworth), Complete A Candle in the Storm side quest
- Reward: 4000 XP, 20,000 G, 1 x Sunbloom
- Quest Description: Who should knock upon your door late night but an attendant to Her Majesty Nadinia, Empress of Battahl? Her purpose is as yet unknown, but it is clear that it demands secrecy.
Objectives:
- Escort Nadinia without exposing her identity
Starting Location: Crossing in Shadow
To start this quest, return to your home in Venworth at night where Vera will appear and ask you to escort the Empress in the city.
Escort Nadinia without exposing her identity
You will need to help Nadinia reach the Rose Chateau on the south side of the city without her being recognized. Your pawns will stay behind, and you just need to follow after Vera who will be leading the way through the city.
Partway along the path you’ll see a scene of someone trying to buy medicine. For the best outcome speak with the shopkeeper and pay 1000 G for the medicine, then continue following Vera.
Next along the path you will encounter a man who asks for your aid because he is being chased by a soldier. If you agree to help you will be immediately thrown in gaol, ending the quest, so you should refuse to help him to continue.
After arriving at the Rose Chateau the Empress will enter on her own, and after another scene you will complete the quest.
This finishes the Crossing in Shadow side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Like two seconds after accepting this quest, the entire town of vernworth was after my ass and I had to commit a massacre 🙁 I even got arrested a couple of times and failed the quest

For me, because of my crappy PC, the thief didn’t spawn in properly, because I ran ahead to fast, and the scene where he asks for help didn’t trigger, so I got thrown into gaol without a chance to do anything about it.
If you have a lower end PC like me, I suggest that you don’t run at all during this quest and just follow Vera in a jog :P
