Dragon’s Dogma 2 All Portcrystal Locations

March 25, 2024 by PowerPyx 4 Comments

Portcrystals are the fast travel points in Dragon’s Dogma 2. There are fixed Portcrystals that are already placed in major towns, and portable Portcrystals which you can place anywhere to create a permanent fast travel point. To initiate fast travel you will need so-called Ferrystones, rare items that can be found in chests, as quest rewards, or bought from general stores in most towns.

This guide lists all Portcrystal Locations.

Fixed Portcrystals

Portcrystal #1 – Vernworth
Behind the building with the Grand Riftstone in Vernworth, the main capital in the game. It’s a big purple crystal, go near it to unlock it as a permanent fast travel point. It will then appear on the map as a crystal icon.

Portcrystal #2 – Harve Village
Harve Village is found west of Vernworth. In the very south of Harve Village you can find this Portcrystal at the coastline, by the ocean.

Portable Portcrystals

For the rest of the game, there are no fixed Portcrystals and instead you are supposed to place your own portable Portcrystals in strategical locations. The first Portcrystal is an automatic story unlock and is best placed in the game’s second capital city “Bakbattahl”. The third Portcrystal is best placed in Checkpoint Rest Town because you often need to go there. The fourth is best placed in Volcanic Island Camp which is the third region south of the ocean.

Portcrystal #3 – Automatic reward from Main Quest: Feast of Deception
When you finish up the last main quest in Vernworth from Captain Brant, he will send you to Bakbattahl. He automatically gives you a Portcrystal for this journey, which you should place in Bakbattahl once you arrive there.

Portcrystal #4 – Reward from Sphinx Riddle 2: The Riddle of Madness
Refer to Dragon’s Dogma 2 All Sphinx Riddle Solutions. You can find the Sphinx and get this Portcrystal as soon as you reach Vernworth early in the game. You can run past all the enemies to get there early. The best time to get it would be when you are on your way to Bakbattahl, when you reached the border at Checkpoint Rest Town (you can use the Oxcart Carriage in the northwest of Vernworth to fast travel close to the location). The riddle is also very easy to solve because all you need to do is present your main pawn to the Sphinx as your “most beloved”. Then the reward chest behind the Sphinx unlocks which contains this. You can only answer this riddle once per playthrough, if you give the wrong answer it can’t be retried until the next playthrough.

Portcrystal #5 – Optional Reward from Sphinx Riddle 4: The Riddle of Conviction
Refer to Dragon’s Dogma 2 All Sphinx Riddle Solutions. The Sphinx will ask you to present your most valuable item. It will duplicate whatever item you give (she gives you back one copy, then another copy in the reward chest behind the Sphinx). She will act like you won’t get back the item but then actually gives you back 2 of it. So you can duplicate whatever item you want through this riddle, ideally the Portcrystal you got from the 2nd Riddle. You can only do this once per playthrough.

Portcrystal #6 – Reward from the side questline Gift of the Bow > A Trial of Archery.
Upon completing Side Quest: A Trial of Archery you will receive this as a quest reward.

Portcrystal #7 – Found in Misty Marshes > Forested Griffin’s Nest
This is found inside the Griffin Nest. The area is in the northwest part of Vermund (the forest region). It’s west of Vernworth / northwest of Harve Village / northeast of Checkpoint Rest Town, on the world map the area has a cloud hanging over it.

Portcrystal #8 – Bought from Dragonborne for 20 WLC (Wyrmslife Crystals)
The Dragonborn is found north of Bakbattahl in Bay Wayside Shrine. You can trade 20 “Wyrmslife Crystals” (WLC) to him, which are dropped by large Dragon enemies found throughout the world.

There is one in the Griffin’s nest in the misty marshes. I climbed on a Griffin outside of Verworth and it flew off with me on its back, I had to use a few stamina recovery items and it was a cool ride, eventually it landed in its nest!

A Portcrystal can also be found in a Griffin’s Nest in Misty Marshes.
