Introduction
Welcome to the Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred DLC Trophy Guide! Vessel of Hatred is the first DLC expansion for Diablo IV. It unlocks a brand new region, Nahantu, alongside a new class, Spiritborn. There is also a new act in the campaign and multiple new endgame activities to participate in. The biggest addition with Vessel of Hatred however is the Paragon Levelling system, which replaces regular levelling past Level 60. Most of the time for 100% trophies will consist of grinding to Paragon Level 300, as this will likely take in excess of 100 hours.
Step 1: Play through the Vessel of Hatred Campaign
Play through the Vessel of Hatred campaign on any difficulty. If you focus on completing Act VII it should only take a few hours. Along the way you can unlock Mercenaries and Kurast Undercity by doing Priority Quests. If you are doing this on a new character, you can skip the main game campaign during character creation.
Step 2: Unlock Torment IV difficulty
Once you complete the campaign, you will want to grind to Level 60 and start running The Pit of Artificers until you can complete a Tier 60 to unlock Torment IV difficulty. While doing this, make sure to participate in Nahantu Helltides whenever you see them to work towards 10,000 Aberrant Cinders.
Step 3: Grind for Paragon Level 300
With Torment IV unlocked, it’s time to grind. Paragon Level 300 will likely take 100+ hours even if starting at Paragon Level 200 (if you had a character at level 100 prior to the release of Vessel of Hatred, you will start at Paragon Level 200 immediately when playing on the same realm). While doing this you will likely do all other trophies along the way, if you participate in all the content. Do note that you will need a co-op partner for Rise of the Khazra Dark Citadel, as this is a new co-op only dungeon.

Hatred Subdued Complete the Vessel of Hatred campaign. |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
Complete all of the quests for Act VII, the Vessel of Hatred campaign. This will only take a few hours to complete. If you are doing this on a new character (to play on the Seasonal Realm or to play Spiritborn for instance), you can skip the main game campaign during character creation so that you don’t have to replay it. |
Wildland Warrior Kill 666 Dregs, Lacuni, or Hollows. |
Glitched.
For this you will need a total kill count of 666 across all three monster types. You will find Dregs, Lacuni and Hollows all around Nahantu, the new region. You can check your progress by going to Collections > Challenges > Monsters. There have been reports of this glitching for players who played on release day (presumably due to a licensing issue that occurred on release) where it won’t unlock after meeting the requirements. If this happens, the only reliable way to fix this is by unlinking your Battle.net account and linking a new account, then starting a new character to get it. |
Spirited Sparring Kill 500 enemies with Ultimate Skills as a Spiritborn. |
Glitched.
Ultimate Skills are unlocked for the Spiritborn at Level 20. These are high damaging skills with long cooldowns. As long as you have an Ultimate Skill unlocked and use it when available, you’ll get this naturally. There have been reports of this glitching for players who played on release day (presumably due to a licensing issue that occurred on release) where it won’t unlock after meeting the requirements. If this happens, the only reliable way to fix this is by unlinking your Battle.net account and linking a new account, then starting a new character to get it. |
Nahantu Sightseer Explore all of Nahantu. |
Glitched.
In order to explore all of Nahantu, you must fully unfog the map by discovering all Areas. These are discovered by simply walking into them. There are a total of 58 Areas to discover, and you can see your progress for these by viewing the Renown for the Nahantu region. You will need to complete the Vessel of Hatred Campaign before doing this, as some locations are locked behind progressing it. There is also one 1 Area that is locked behind the side quest Blood in the Grove, so you will need to complete this. There have been reports of this glitching for players who played on release day (presumably due to a licensing issue that occurred on release) where it won’t unlock after meeting the requirements. If this happens, it should unlock if you revisit every Area. |
Tormented Massacre Defeat 1000 Elites on Torment IV. |
In order to unlock Torment IV difficulty, you must first complete a Tier 60 run of The Pit of Artificers. Once in Torment IV, simply do any end-game content such as Helltides, Nightmare Dungeon or The Pit and look for elite packs. Elites will have multiple affixes on them, making them deadlier than regular enemies. They will always spawn in packs rather than as standalone enemies.
Hireling Commander Reach level 10 with all Mercenaries. |
Early into the Vessel of Hatred Campaign, you will unlock The Den, which will be the base for the mercenaries. You will also immediately unlock Raheir, the first of four mercenaries. With mercenaries unlocked, you can hire them or assign them as reinforcements, allowing for 2 mercenaries at a time. When you have mercenaries with you, they will gain Rapport when you kill enemies, complete quests and events, which will level them up. Hired mercenaries will get full Rapport, while reinforcement mercenaries will only get 50%.
After unlocking the Den, there will also be 3 Priority Quests to unlock the other 3 mercenaries. It is recommended you do these immediately so that you can constantly have 2 mercenaries levelling up. When one reaches level 10, swap them out for another mercenary.
Bane of the Khazra Complete the Rise of the Khazra Dark Citadel. |
Dark Citadel is a new co-op dungeon that is only available on Torment I difficulty or higher. As it is a co-op dungeon, you can only complete it with other players, it cannot be soloed due to the dungeon having mechanics that require multiple players. If you’re unable to find people to do this with, you can use the Party Finder feature by pressing on the dungeon to try find other players this way.
Kurast Cleanser Complete 25 runs of the Kurast Undercity. |
Kurast Undercity is a time trial dungeon that you will unlock by completing a Priority Quest during the Vessel of Hatred campaign. When you start a run of Kurast Undercity, you will have a timer and gain time when killing afflicted monsters or destroying afflicted structures. You will have to progress through the floors until you reach the final floor, at which point the timer will disappear and you’ll have to fight the boss. Optionally you can kill extra enemies and light beacons to increase your reward upon completion, or offer a tribute when starting for better rewards, but neither of these are necessary. This can be done on any difficulty, so if you’re struggling to complete these on time you can always do them on Normal difficulty.
Devout Champion Reach Paragon 300 with any character. |
Paragon 300 is the new level cap introduced with Vessel of Hatred and will take a long time to reach. Paragon Levels work differently to regular levels, as after reaching the regular character level cap of 60 (reduced from 100), you will start gaining Paragon Levels which are shared across all characters on that Realm. The good news about this is that you can make as many characters as you want and progress towards it that way, rather than grinding it out all on one character. This will also apply to characters that move from the Seasonal Realm to the Eternal Realm, meaning you could play 1-2 characters each season, then when the season ends they would transfer over to Seasonal along with the Paragon Levels they had unlocked, eventually reaching Paragon 300 that way.
Regardless of whether you grind this out on one character or across multiple characters/seasons, the best way to grind Paragon Levels is by doing high-tier runs of The Pit of Artificers, Kurast Undercity and Dark Citadel, all on Torment IV. You can expect this to take 100+ hours beyond the requirements of the base game. |
Infernal Jungle Collect 10,000 Aberrant Cinders in Nahantu Helltides. |
Helltides will spawn on any difficulty as soon as the base game campaign is completed, so you will likely have access to these immediately. 10,000 Aberrant Cinders is quite a lot, so be sure to participate in Helltides whenever they spawn in Nahantu. Helltides last for 55 minutes with a 5 minute downtime before appearing in another region. The best way to get cinders during a Helltide is to complete events, killing packs of elites, and killing Hellbornes. Hellbornes will spawn after the Threat Meter is completely filled by doing events/killing demons. You can expect to get 750 – 1,500 Aberrant Cinders in a full Helltide. |

Der-Sepp says
Thanks for the great guides as always, but some trophies like spirited sparring are glitched. Most people assume that this has to do with the licensing bugs during the first days. I cannot get the 500 ultimate kills trophy, even though my Spiritborn is paragon 180 and tried for hours with the eagle and jaguar ultimate.
Archavia says
Thanks for mentioning this, I’ve made a note of those trophies that have known to glitch.
