Here’s a quick overview of the 100% complete flowchart for The Nest.
Checkpoint: Lunch Break
- Join Hank: Get out of the car and go over to Hank at the lunch counter.
- Analyze Environment: When you join Hank, you’ll be prompted twice to use to scan the environment. Make sure that when you do so, you scan:
- First scan:

- Hank’s face
- Gary’s face
- Detroit food hygiene license near the upper left of the counter.
- Second scan:
- Hamburger
- Drink
- First scan:
- Analyze Environment: When you join Hank, you’ll be prompted twice to use to scan the environment. Make sure that when you do so, you scan:
- Hank Insults Connor: This is a result of Connor dying in ‘Chapter: The Interrogation’ (deviant shot Connor) and ‘Chapter: On the Run’ (Connor died chasing Kara across the highway). Then Connor just shows up unexpectedly to Hank’s lunch. Hank is confused and asks if Connor is going to come like this every time. Connor answers he’s just a machine and gets replaced. Hank then insults him with a “Fuck You Connor”. If this happens it will skip all the other dialogues in this section. There will just be a quick cutscene and then it skips ahead to the elevator.
- Talk to Hank:
- APOLOGIZE FOR BEHAVIOR: Hank▲
- PARTNERS: No Effect
- RECONCILE: No Effect
- REVIEW FACTS: No Effect
- Hank will then take his food to one of the nearby tables. Follow him to continue your talk.
- GAMBLING: [Unlocked by scanning Pedro] No Effect
- CHOLESTEROL: [Unlocked by scanning food] Warn Hank About Cholesterol Hank▲
- COMPANY: [Unlocked by scanning Pedro or cook]: Warn Hank About His Friends Hank▲
- HABIT: No Effect
- FREE MEAL:: No Effect
- AREA: No Effect
- ENJOY YOUR MEAL: No Effect
- When small talk is exhausted, Connor will get down to business:
- ABOUT CONNOR: No Effect
- HANK AND ANDROIDS: No Effect
- DEVIANTS: No Effect
- Be Frank with Hank: Hank asks if you’ve done your homework and looked into his background:
- TRUTH: No Effect
- LIE: Hank▼
- He then asks what Connor’s conclusion is:
- SINCERE: Hank▲
- PSYCHOLOGICAL: Hank▲
- COLD: Hank▼
Checkpoint: In the Elevator
- Examine Feathers: Walk towards Hank and about halfway up the hall on the right side will be some feathers on the ground to examine.
- Into the Nest: Knock on the door twice. Hank will bust down the door. Go inside and investigate.
Investigate Apartment:
- Read “Red Ice Epidemic”: Read the magazine collectible in the first room to the right. Be sure to check both pages.
- Read “Past the Tipping Point”: Read the magazine collectible in the first room to the right. Be sure to check both pages.
- Find Diary: [CROSS CHAPTER IMPACT] Look at the Urban Farms of Detroit (UFD) poster on the wall in the main room. Scan it for 2 clues, then you’ll be able to pull it off the wall. Behind the poster in a hole in the wall will be the diary.
- Find LED: While in the bathroom, examine the sink. Sample the blood then examine the LED.
- See rA9 Reference: In the bathroom, look at the wall to see obsessive compulsive writing.
- Investigate Stool: Beneath the wall of writing is a stool that has tipped over. Scan it for two clues, then reconstruct the scene to see the deviant run out of the room.
- Investigate Cage: Back in the main room, examine the birdcage on the floor, and scan it for clues. Compete the reconstruction to determine that the android has climbed up into the ceiling and is still in the room.
If you have not located the android in about five minutes, Hank will be ready to give up.
- STAY: If your relationship with Hank is high enough, he will give you two more minutes. Make them count. If your relationship is poor, or you run out your two minutes without finding Rupert, it will have the same effect as the LEAVE option.
- LEAVE: Hank and Connor Leave the Apartment
- Rupert Not Found (Ending)
Checkpoint: Find Rupert
- Find Rupert: Go over to the chair that the android used to climb to the ceiling and interact with it. You will look up, and Rupert will drop from the ceiling and make a break for it.
- Chase Rupert: Go after him! Be prepared for QTEs as he pushes obstacles in your way. Along the way you will be prompted to hit to scan, and different options to chase Rupert will be revealed. Once you climb over an AC duct and drop down onto an urban farm, you’ll be forced to make a series of choices. The riskier the route, the closer you’ll get to Rupert, but the more QTEs you’ll have to succeed at (and more opportunities to die).
Depending on how well you perform your QTEs and the route you choose, you’ll end up with one of three outcomes:
- Gaining on Rupert: If you succeed in catching up with Rupert, you’ll have a moment where he scuffles with Hank and Hank goes over the side of the roof. The chance of Hank’s survival is high, so you have to choose whether to save him or continue chasing the rogue android.
- Rupert Pushes Hank: This happens automatically if you chase Rupert all the way to the end. Now you can either SAVE HANK or CHASE DEVIANT.
- Save Hank: Do the right thing, and your relationship with him will flourish, at the expense of your mission. Hank▲▲▲, Software Instability▲▲▲
- Rupert Got Away (Ending): Better luck next time Connor.
- Follow Rupert: While this might be what your program tells you to do, Hank is definitely not going to appreciate this. Software Instability▼▼▼, Hank▼▼▼
- Rupert Committed Suicide (Ending): [CROSS CHAPTER IMPACT] What’s more, even after all that Rupert will not be taken alive, jumping off the roof with a prayer to rA9.
- Save Hank: Do the right thing, and your relationship with him will flourish, at the expense of your mission. Hank▲▲▲, Software Instability▲▲▲
- Lose Sight of Rupert: If you mess up some QTEs, choose slow paths, or maybe just don’t run in the right direction, you can lose Rupert entirely.
- Rupert Got Away (Ending): Definitely not going to look good on your record.
- Connor Died: If you miss a critical QTE, like when trying to make a leap from building to building, Connor will die. This is not recommended.
- Connor Died Chasing Rupert (Ending): [CROSS CHAPTER IMPACT] Oops. Software Instability▼
The Nest Endings
- Rupert Not Found: When investigating the apartment with the birds you waited 5 minutes until Hank wants to leave.
- Connor Died Chasing Rupert: When you slide down the first roof during the chase, don’t press any buttons and Connor will fall.
- Rupert Got Away: At the end of the chase, choose SAVE HANK or don’t chase Rupert at all and lose sight of him.
- Rupert Committed Suicide: At the end of the chase, choose CHASE DEVIANT.

You don’t need to have a good relationship with Hank for him to give you 2 more minutes. My current playthrough, I am Hostile with Hank and he still gave me 2 more minutes when I chose STAY. Maybe the outcome would be different if Conner dies in a previous chapter. Connor hasn’t died in my playthrough.

Talk to Hank:
When small talk is exhausted, Connor will get down to business:
*** HIGH WAY: [Unlock by: Hank orders Connor not to go / Connor obey’s Hank’s Order; in On the Run] No Effect
ABOUT CONNOR: No Effect
HANK AND ANDROIDS: No Effect
DEVIANTS: No Effect
Moon says
Do you need to have Connor die in both “On the Run” and “The Interrogation” in order for Hank to insult him or do you just need to have only one?
Moon says
Nevermind, I checked the wiki and it said that in order for Hank to insult Connor you need Connor to die in the highway chase in “On the Run”
Becky says
This is probably gonna make me sound stupid, but which button do you click to confirm the fast but risky route? I don’t understand.
Esper says
You don’t hit a button to select a route, you just run towards it.
the android sent by cyberlife says
how do you successfully capture Rupert?
a moral dilemma says
You don’t. Rupert either escapes, or kills himself.
Jannis Tenbrink says
The Gambling dialogue option also enables without scanning anything at all. I suspect it suffices to be near the conversation when the gambling talk happens.
Charbel M. says
The below node should be adjusted: OR not And. Connor could be killed once for this part to be activated. There is no need to go way back and repeat chapter of ‘Chapter: The Interrogation’.
Hank Insults Connor: This is a result of Connor dying in ‘Chapter: The Interrogation’ (deviant shot Connor) and ‘Chapter: On the Run’ (Connor died chasing Kara across the highway).
Charbel M. says
Best Ending in my Opinion: Save Hank and let Rupert run away.
In the Chapter: Last Chance, Connor, there is node “Insufficient Evidence (Ending)”. This will need ALL captured deviants to survive:
– The deviant in ‘The Interrogation‘ went to his cell (did not self-destruct)
– Rupert in “The Nest’, (Ran away)
– The Tracis in ‘The Eden Club‘ (Connor does not shoot them)
– Simon survived in ‘The Stratford Tower‘ (or if he was left behind on roof Connor didn’t find him in ‘Public Enemy‘)
– Connor caught the kitchen deviant in ‘Public Enemy‘. (Connor reached his hear in time)
Such information will help the player not to repeat many chapters.
Tony T says
Great tip, thanks. Going thru trying to get 100% definitely involves a lot of repeating chapters, so trying to plan accordingly.
Quack says
Is the only way to get that sweet connor and hank hug end screen if connor becomes a deviant? can it happen if he is a machine?
warren says
i believe that is a no. Connor and hank can still be friends when Connor is a machine by being friendly with him still but not choosing options that will rise his software instability (like chasing Rupert instead of saving hank) I believe that scene does not appear at the end of the game if you went with machine Connor route. When Connor is on the rooftop about to assassinate Markus you have a final dialogue/action scene with Hank where you can remain harmless toward him even as a machine, and you can remark on his son like you would at the Cyberlife Warehouse. Connor can choose not to fight hank and leave him alone on the rooftop which will make them friends but again, no hug scene.

Latest patched version, playing PS4 disc on PS5, what sandman said above is true.
I have a HOSTILE relationship with Hank, and it still gave me the two minutes extra option. Connor is giving the choice to immediately LEAVE or STAY.
