Fugitives is the 10th chapter in Detroit Become Human. This walkthrough will guide you through all the choices of the Fugitives level for 100% completion.
This chapter begins after completing The Interrogation.
Fixed with Patch 1.05: Currently, there is a bug with the Steal / Leave-section in the supermarket. Whenever you choose the opposite of what you’ve chosen earlier, the earlier choice will be locked again.
Fixed with Patch 1.06: There is a missing decision from the supermarket while using the gun to rob the clerk.

Find Shelter for the Night
Kara and Alice have to leave the bus after arriving at its final stop and can do a lot of things while finding shelter for the night.
Kara can talk to two androids in the streets:
- Talk to Parked Android: After having left the bus, go over to the left side of the road and try to talk to one of the parked androids.
- Talk to Android Trash Collector: After leaving the bus, walk down to the intersection and over to the other bus stop to the right-hand side with the Trash Truck parked in front of. You are forced to talk to Alice at some point, which will trigger the scene with the Trashman.
Kara can enter two stores at the intersection to obtain possibly various items:
- Enter Laundromat: this house is located around the left corner of the intersection
- see Inside Laundromat-branch below for all the decisions
- Enter Supermarket: this house is located around the right corner of the intersection
- see Inside Supermarket-branch below for all the decisions
These are the potential places to crash for the night:
- Check Motel: this house is located on the left side of the intersection, across the street
- see Inside Motel-branch below for all the decisions
- Check Parking Lot: this house is located on the far right side of the intersection, across the street
- see Inside Parking Lot-branch below for all the decisions
- Alice too Cold: After talking to the Trashman Android, stand in the rain for about 12 minutes and don’t do anything. Alice will sneeze more and more and ultimately, a cutscene will play, where Kara breaks into the car and both will crash the night there. (Credit to Wicktor & Omega for this.)
- Check Squat: this house is located on the right side of the intersection, across the street
- see Inside Squat-branch below for all the decisions
- Read “Bee-Line to Disaster”: Inside the laundromat, on a cupboard next to the door through which you entered.
- Read “Face the Music”: Inside the laundromat, on a cupboard next to the door through which you entered. Swipe to the right to access it.
- Inspect Dryer: The Dryer is located on the right side of the shop.
- Leave Clothes: When Alice wants you to stop stealing the clothes, press to listen to her and leave again.
- Steal Clothes: When Alice wants you to stop stealing the clothes, press to take them anyhow.
- Wear Clothes: Pass the QTE’s (hold and move for the first, hold + + for the second) to steal two complete outfits.
- This is needed to have a disguise for the motel-branch!
- Disturb Man: Fail the QTE to wake the man and leave the shop again – with no clothes.
- Wear Clothes: Pass the QTE’s (hold and move for the first, hold + + for the second) to steal two complete outfits.
- Leave Laundromat: No matter what you’ve decided before, leaving the store is unmissable.
- Talk to Clerk / Notice Cash Register: Both obtained for simply talking to him. Head inside the supermarket an talk to the clerk – he will refuse to help you.
- Notice Can Stack: Observe the middle of the shop. There is a stack of cans which can be used to distract the clerk.
- Use Alice as a Diversion: after noticing both aforementioned things, talk to Alice and ask her for help.
- Steal Discreetly: Once Alice knocked over the cans, quickly go to the cash register and pass the QTE (hold first, then move ).
- Take too much Time: Once Alice knocked over the cans, open the cash register and don’t pass the QTE in time to get busted.
- [Gun] Use Gun / Customer Arrives: If you have the gun, you can use it against the clerk after he rejects your formal request for money. A customer will enter the store and you can decide between two approaches:
- Give Up: Abort your Store-Hold-Up and go without money.
- Resume Hold-Up: Stay at the counter with your gun concealed and let the customer buy, pay and leave without him noticing.
- “Don’t Move”: Tell the clerk with either or to back off or turn around to grab the money yourself.
- Open Cash Register / Clerk grabs a Gun: Tell the clerk to open the register and to hand over the Bills . He will grab a gun himself.
- Give Up / Leave: Press to give up and go outside without money.
- Convince / Take Money: Press to tell the clerk the story of your and Alice’s night and he will hand over the money willingly.
- Steal / Leave Chocolate Bar / Toy / Wire Cutters: You can steal one of these three items without being caught. Stealing a second item will always get you busted.
To interact with the Wire Cutters, Kara needs to check either side of the fence of the Abandoned House before.- [Gun] Clerk spots Kara stealing / Draw Gun: If you have the gun from Chapter 7, Kara can use it after being caught and keep both stolen items.
- Stealing either the Chocolate Bar and/or the Toy successfully will enable Kara to give either item to Alice later.
- [Gun] Clerk spots Kara stealing / Draw Gun: If you have the gun from Chapter 7, Kara can use it after being caught and keep both stolen items.
Have Money and Disguise: To successfully enter the Motel, Kara needs to get 40$ from the Supermarket’s register and new clothes from the Laundromat to hide being an android. If you have failed one of these two things, you can’t get into the Motel on your current playthrough.
- Talk to Receptionist / Check in: Simply press to talk to him and use any excuse for not having an ID to check in.
- Find an enter Room Room 28: Once outside, go the left and head up the stairs. Your room is going to be the second from the left.
- Remove Wet Clothes / Talk to Alice: Take off Alices’ clothes and hang them to dry in the bathroom, then talk to her.
- Make Promise: When Alice asks you if you’re going to be forever, press to confirm it.
- Don’t make Promise: When Alice asks you if you’re going to be forever, press to be hesitant.
- Give Toy: If you have successfully stolen the Toy from the Supermarket, you can give it to Alice, once she is in bed.
- Give Chocolate: If you have successfully stolen the Chocolate from the Supermarket, you can offer it to Alice, once she sits on the bed.
- Kara sleeps next to Alice: When prompted to choose your own sleeping place, press to sleep next to Alice.
- Watch Alice from Chair: When prompted to choose your own sleeping place, press to stand up. Walk to the chair instead and press .
- Remove Wet Clothes / Talk to Alice: Take off Alices’ clothes and hang them to dry in the bathroom, then talk to her.
- Find an enter Room Room 28: Once outside, go the left and head up the stairs. Your room is going to be the second from the left.
- Leave Parking Lot: Simply exit through the door you came in, either directly or after inspecting the car or breaking its window.
- Break into Car: Press and hit three times to break the window and be able to unlock it from the inside.
- Find another Option: Agree with Alice to look for something else to spend the night.
- Stay: Convince Alice that the car is the best option you have right now.
- Get in Car / Talk to Alice: unmissable after deciding to stay in the car.
- Make Promise: When Alice asks you if you’re going to be forever, press to confirm it.
- Don’t make Promise: When Alice asks you if you’re going to be forever, press to be hesitant.
- Give Toy: If you have successfully stolen the Toy from the Supermarket, you can give it to Alice, once you covered her in the blanket.
- Give Chocolate: If you have successfully stolen the Chocolate from the Supermarket, you can offer it to Alice, once you covered her in the blanket.
- Kara Sleeps next to Alice / Alice & Kara stayed in Abandoned Car: the regular ending for this branch.
- Check Squat: Take a look at the fence either from the adjacent Parking Lot or the opposite steet side to spot a possibility to cut the fence.
- Take Wire Cutters:
- Either: Grab them from the yellow Generator in the Parking Lot
- Or: Steal them from the Supermarket (front aisle)
- Cut Street Fence / Cut Parking Lot Fence: Choose either side to get on to the compound.
- Meet Ralph: unmissable after checking the door of the house
- Give up / Leave Squat: At some part dialogue, press LEAVE, to exit the compound.
- [Gun] Threaten with Gun: If you have the gun from Chapter 7, use it to defend Alice and either leave or stay on the compound.
- Convince / Follow Ralph: Use any other argument to convince him to let you stay.
- Start a Fire: Pick up the matches on a shelf next to the fireplace, wood next to the entrance-door and paper next to the trash-bin.
- Make a Bed: Pick up the blanket and pillow next to the stairs leading up and place them next to the fireplace.
- Talk to Alice: Upon completing the two previous tasks, talk to Alice to proceed.
- Make Promise: When Alice asks you if you’re going to be forever, press to confirm it.
- Don’t make Promise: When Alice asks you if you’re going to be forever, press to be hesitant.
- Give Toy: If you have successfully stolen the Toy from the Supermarket, Kara will give it to Alice, once you’ve kissed her goodnight.
- Give Chocolate: If you have successfully stolen the Chocolate from the Supermarket, you can offer it to Alice, once you can explore the house.

If anyone wants to play around to find the missing third option while robbing the supermarket with a gun, here are things I tried which didn’t work:
– experienced difficulty
– change clothes in the laundromat
– successfully steal an item before
– check all places with R2 + all things with L1 before
– don’t press any of the two buttons but let the time run down (she will give up then)

I’m almost certain I’ve figured it out, but it requires you to have taken certain actions in previous chapters. I’m testing my theory now. If I’m right, look forward to my comment below revealing the third option. 🙂

Damn. No dice. I felt so sure that was it. I tried going all the way back to “Welcome Home” and keeping my relationship with Alice low/distant. I figured maybe if Alice didn’t trust me enough, then she wouldn’t stay outside like I asked – and the missing third option would be related to her coming back inside or something.
It didn’t work. Still played out just the same. Gonna mess around with some other things and see if I can’t still make something out of this. Like stealing the clothes first to reduce the relationship even more.

There’s a workaround to the ‘Steal/Leave bug’ thanks to DavidKing88:
Guys the chapter is bugged for the 3 object to stolen or not in the supermarket but i found a solution:
1- start the chapter
2- go to supermarket and steal or not an object
3- go out or complete an event in the supermarket
4- enter in the parking and complete the chapter in the car.
5- repet all the point that i wrote before but this time, after go out of store and enter in the parking lot (be sure that the game save), exit to the main menu.
6- load the chapter from “continue”
7- the node are now open 🙂
For me worked, i do these step because i’m try to complete it to 100%.
The only node that remain is the 3 option the don’t come up when you have the gun and face the man in the supermarket with his pistol.
PS: if you try to stolen or not after you have unlocked both of them, the bug come up again

If you quit to the main menu and continue the game, both of the option will appear again. So when the bug comes up, just go to the next checkpoint and restart will solve the problem.
This flowchart bug also happens at the next chapter, that if Marcus try to kill the Android to get the processor units, no matter you have complete the chapter at 100%, you will get back to 94% and the option for “not kill” would be locked again. That’s more annoying cause you can’t use the checkpoint method there but have to play through it again by choosing “not kill” for the last run.

Hi!
I have a bug-like thing.
I wanted to do 100%. I completed every scenario and made the last run to evade Todd, i.e. went through the window (so I did not take the gun on that run).
But strangely in the Fugitives chapter I had the gun I could use (!) despite not taking the gun!
I saw the ending of Stormy Night. Kara was fine, Alice was fine. I was sure Todd was alive, he was looking at us through the window. So, I was convinced Todd is alive until “Waiting for Hank”, when Connor was browsing through crime data and he said that Last night android killed its owner. and the file showed Kara suspected of murdering Todd Williams.
So I got back to Stormy Night, completed it again (went upstairs, took Alice, hid in the corridor, escaped through front door, got the bus, Todd was shouting in front of the doors). And that’s the path I have marked on my chart – evaded Todd. Then I got to Fugitives once again. Ended up at the squat with that Ralph. Skipped all options (Motel, Store, Laundry), went straight up to the house. I hoped that’d solve the issue. BUt no. Kara is still a murderer in “Waiting for Hank” and allegedly was seen. And Kara does not seem to have a gun. Did you notice that if she uses a gun she puts it down at the end of the night (and if you have a toy, she puts its down (in a hotel, at the squat), and the same goes with wire cutters)? So the last time I only had wire cutters, but they still think I shot Todd. How?
any idea what to do to get Todd appear on TV talking about assault? Which parts do I need to go through again. Stormy Night and Fugitives completed again, no change.
and I know you can change paths and it works. I changed Marcus’ path (first did not resist Leo, then Resisted it) – and it had impact on Waiting for Hank – no press article abut dead painter.

I’ve found another strange issue, maybe it’s only me.
I went into the supermarket, stole the toy OR the chocolate bar (did not get busted), then I go to the clerk and robbed him (even if I gave up, same issue).
Next I went into the parking lot, decided to sleep there. After covering Alice in the blanket, I did not get the chance to give her the toy or the chocolate bar.
I was only able to give her one of those, when I did not rob the supermarket.

I had the same kind of issue before, but while staying in the house. I wasn’t able to give her the toy despite successfully stealing it. Though I’m not really sure anymore whether I robbed the store or not…
The Fugitives chapter is definitely kinda buggy. At least I finally managed to get 98% now, only missing that one option in the supermarket.

Seems like you can’t simply steal anything without the gun(?)
Just got inside the supermarket after stealing the clothes; looked at the wire cutters and chocolate bar etc, doesn’t appear the option to steal them; just the options ask for help to the clerk.

You still can steal, if you didn’t bring the gun to this chapter, though.
To steal the Wire Cutter, you have to check either side of the Fence before, otherwise, Kara doesn’t think it is important.

In order to get 100% just talk to the trash man android and do absolutely nothing but stand still in the rain for about 10 mins. it will bring up a scene and you will get the 4th locked option. Its called Alice too cold.

To get the gun option, you have to have killed Todd in Stormy Night.
After you have spoken to the cashier in the supermarket and get refused money, the option will automatically come up with the ability to use the gun. The option will come up to Threaten Cashier or to try something else. If you choose to Threaten the Cashier, Kara tells Alice to wait outside.
Once Alice is outside, Kara is given the choice to be Sincere, Calm or Aggressive. Then you choose the option of Cash Register. Then a customer walks into the store where you get the option to Stay or Leave. If you choose Stay, Kara will tell him to play it cool. Once the customer leaves, you get the options of Back Off! Turn Around! and Open the Register! Then the option changes to Bills! after the one you have chosen. Then the cashier pulls a gun in return. You then get the option of Convince or Give Up. That then concludes the encounter.

For anyone having problems giving Alice the toy/chocolate at any location… try raising your relationship with her higher than neutral. There are a few places where you can raise it during the level, so as long as it isn’t too low from previous levels you should be fine. You do take a negative hit by choosing to stay in the car, but as long as it’s Warm or higher by that point you should have the option to give the item. This definitely applies to the toy but may affect the chocolate, as well.

Notes from my hunt for the mystery third option during the store robbery:
First, some observations.
1) There is no “locked” dialogue option. Normally when there’s a selectable option that is simply unavailable because you didn’t meet the necessary requirements, the dialogue option is still displayed as “…” with a lock icon. Not this time. So I don’t think the third option is something you can choose, but rather, something that will just happen automatically at this point if the necessary conditions are met.
2) If you look at the flowchart, you can plainly see the lines leading from the three choices to their resulting consequences. Only “give up/leave” leads to you leaving the store without the money. Both “convince” and our mystery option clearly display lines resulting in “take money.” So our mystery event, whatever it is, will result in success.
Based on this, my theory is that the event is some kind of outside intervention by another character. The only other characters I can think of who might intervene here are Alice, Ralph, or the laundry guy.
Alice seems the most likely, since she’s the one who I think would most likely result in success. So my top theory is that there are conditions you can create in which Alice will re-enter the store and intervene. To this end I’ve replayed the entire game, focusing on my relationship with Alice, trying to keep her distant/untrusting. I believe if I can get her to distrust me enough, this will cause her to refuse to wait outside like Kara asks, and thus she’ll perhaps come back inside and our mystery event will play out. So far I’ve had no luck, but it’s possible there are ways to degrade my relationship with Alice that I’m missing, and so I simply haven’t pushed our relationship down low enough. I still feel this is the most likely solution.
Ralph seems the next most likely. I haven’t experimented with him yet. It’s hard to imagine he would leave the squat and come across the street, but hey, anything’s possible. I also can’t imagine how his intervention would lead to success, but again, who knows.
The laundry guy seems least likely. Perhaps if I attempt to steal from him but fail, so that he’s now awake, he’ll come wandering down to the store as I’m robbing it and do something. Again, I don’t see how this would result in successfully getting the money, but who knows.
It’s also possible there are conditions in which either the cashier himself will do something at this point depending on what else you’ve done in the store, or one final possibility is that somehow, you can end up shooting the cashier. These are just guesses I have, based on the fact that we know the mystery option will result in you successfully taking the money, and so I’m just trying to think of various events that would result in you successfully taking the money.
That’s all I’ve got for now. Still experimenting.

There are a few such things that give you options even tho they dont show that they are locked options like for example in the last chapter SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVENT PLAYED THE LAST CHAPTER :
if you deactivate Alices temperature sensor you will only have 2 options to answer the SWAT, however if you didnt deactivate it you will have a 3rd option to answer him : “Cold”

It seems like the 3rd option should be stealing the money after failing the distraction and pulling a gun, but while the scene shows you taking money, the flowchart says you just left.

In mine, I had Kara steal the toy first, then the chocolate bar (we had already been to the laundromat where Kara successfully stole clothes for both of them). The cashier saw her stealing the candy bar and I had her pull the gun on him. While the cashier was at gunpoint (I think she forced him to get down on the floor), Kara was able to keep both stolen items, but then I also had her pop the cash register herself and take the money. Alice was still in the store and protesting the whole time. Their relationship went down a few times because of that scenario I think, but then they were able to stay in the motel where Kara gave the toy to Alice, and they bonded (but Alice wouldn’t eat the chocolate bar).
Not sure if that might help with the missing option at all?

I could get this node after failing to steal clothes from sleeping man and failing to threat the black seller in the supermarket and decided to go away when Ralph threats to Alice with knife. Then Kara said there is nowhere to go besides abondoned car or need to sleep at the street.
Then I stand for a very long time near parked androids. Then I moved and Alice said that she cannot walk. And that node was activated.

Try going back and replaying that chapter (A Stormy Night) so you can obtain the gun, which is located in Todd’s bedside drawer. You don’t have to start a new game, just go to the flowchart on the menu screen. I hope this helps! 🙂

Lots of discussion about the Supermarket glitch, but what about the one in the Laundromat that prevents the beanie hat from being taken off the sleeping customer? Lots of people are writing about it elsewhere but the suggestions given are unhelpful things like “use another controller” (I only have one and much as I love the game have no desire to buy another), remap controller (but of course they don’t say what to remap to), or switch back and forth between difficulty levels which does work for stealing the jacket before the beanie, but not the beanie. All these suggestions for robbing the store are great, but if you can’t get the clothes the motel stand (and 100%) is closed off, leaving the house and car the only options and rendering stealing the money, at least, moot. Anyone have any clear direction on how to get past the laundromat glitch?

I found that if you go to play station controller settings and swap over say the R1 and R2 buttons that you need to use for do the task. Change them to X and O (or whatever shaped button – make sure you remember which ones or write a note down) just before you plan to steal the clothes in the laundromat. It did the job for me. Don’t forget to put the controller settings back to their previous buttons afterwards. GOOD LUCK!

For some reason, I can’t give Alice the chocolate even though I’ve successfully stolen from the supermarket. Whenever the flowchart says I’m supposed to be able to give it to her, the option never appears. This also happens once with the toy in the Abandoned House path. Weird bug >:(

So I took the gun on Stormy Night and I killed Todd, but when I get to Fugitives it doesn’t register that I have the gun because non of the options become available for me. I don’t understand why? Can anyone help me with this, because I really just want to complete the game.

In the event of getting the Alice too cold thing, Alice’s relationship with cara will go back to being distant from what it pleas before

For those still struggling to get the “Alice Too Cold” option, it is not triggered by simply standing in the rain. By that I mean you can’t just unlock it AFK. At least, not entirely AFK. You need to stand around in the rain for a period of time, but have Kara walk 10-20 yards every couple minutes after 10 minutes. Making Alice walk after standing in the cold triggers it.

So I dont know if this is a bug or not but, when I go to the supermarket and steal the chocolate (without getting busted by the clerk) and after that I leave the supermarket (either I stole it or not it doesnt matter) I get to the squat and I cant find a way to give Alice the chocolate. I’ve done all the steps that you can do inside the squat but I dont get the option to give the chocolate. Pls if someone know how to do it explain it to me, its the only thing thats keeping away from the 100% Flowchart.
