Detroit Become Human: Crossroads – Markus Walkthrough 100%

June 15, 2018 by PowerPyx 34 Comments

Crossroads is the 30th chapter in Detroit Become Human. This walkthrough will guide you through all of Markus’s choices of the Crossroads level for 100% completion.

This chapter begins after completing Last Chance, Connor.

The Crossroads Walkthrough is split into 3 parts, one per flowchart:

  • Kara Crossroads
  • Connor Crossroads
  • Markus Crossroads

Flowchart 100% Complete:

Here’s a quick overview of the 100% complete flowchart for “Markus Branch” of Crossroads:
Thanks to BromptonCcktail for the flowcharts!

Mission Start #1: Captain’s Cabin with North

For this path Markus must be dead.

  • [CROSS CHAPTER: MARKUS DIED IN ‘FREEDOM MARCH’]: For this branch Markus must have died in Freedom March. Either by sacrificing himself or attacking the police and losing the fight. Then North takes over his revolution and becomes the new leader of Jericho (she’s not playable, the remaining Markus sequences are just North cutscenes).
    • Josh and North Discuss: Markus is dead and Simon is dead.
    • Josh, Simon and North Discuss: Markus is dead. Simon, Josh, and North are alive.
  • North Stayed Alone With Her Thoughts (Ending): The only possible outcome if Markus has died. North is the new leader of Jericho and continues what Markus started.

Mission Start #2: Captain’s Cabin

For this path Markus must be alive.

  • Counsel with Simon, Josh and North: All characters are still alive.
  • Counsel with Josh and North: Simon has died (can die in The Stratford Tower, Public Enemy, or Freedom March).
  • [PATH #1] Markus Ousted: Reputation with Jericho must be “Unpopular” (most negative). Easy ways to bring down reputation with everyone is to fail the Capitol Park chapter and Disperse during the Freedom March.
    • Markus Left Jericho (Ending): If Connor didn’t find the location to Jericho and Markus was ousted you get this ending.
    • On a Rooftop: Connor did find the location to Jericho and Markus was ousted (Jericho reputation is Unpopular).
    • Jericho is Under Attack: Connor did find the location to Jericho and Markus was ousted (Jericho reputation is Unpopular).
    • Leave Forever: Connor did find the location to Jericho and Markus was ousted (Jericho reputation is Unpopular).
    • In the Corridor with Markus: Result of the above 3 choices.
  • [PATH #2] Discuss with North: Reputation with Jericho must be better than “Unpopular”.
    • Kiss North: If Markus is lovers with north you can choose to kiss her or not kiss her.
    • Don’t Kiss North: If Markus is lovers with north you can choose to kiss her or not kiss her.
  • North Leaves Markus Alone: Automatic, regardless of whether you kissed North or not she will always leave the room.
    • Markus Stayed Alone with his Thoughts (Ending): You get this ending if Connor was deactivated / didn’t find Jericho’s location.
  • Connor Watches North Leave: If Connor did find the location of Jericho then Markus’s flowchart continues here.
  • Jericho is Under Attack: Automatic result of the above choice. Connor will come and helicopters arrive to attack Jericho.

Checkpoint: In the Corridor with Markus (Only if you get Mission Start #2!)

  • Meet Your Team: Happens automatically during a cutscene in the corridor / tunnel.
  • Try to escape: Happens automatically during a cutscene in the corridor / tunnel. When Markus has selected to blow up Jericho (he will always end up with this choice, no way around it).
    • Wrong Way / Out of Time: For “Wrong Way”, walk in the opposite direction you are supposed to go (turn around and walk back). For “Out of Time” just stand still in the corridor until a bullet hits Markus.
      • Soldiers Shoot Markus: Result of Wrong Way / Out of Time.
      • Markus is Wounded: Result of Out of Time, Markus moves on to meet Lucy (doesn’t die).
      • Soldiers Kill Markus: Markus repeatedly runs back to the soldiers and gets shot 3 times. The third bullet kills him (before going downstairs to meet Lucy).
      • Markus Killed and most of Jericho Captured (Ending): Markus repeatedly runs back to the soldiers and gets shot 3 times. The third bullet kills him (before going downstairs to meet Lucy).
  • Meet Lucy: Instead of getting yourself shot, walk down the corridor to meet Lucy (the robot from Jericho with cables hanging out of her head). This also happens automatically when you run out of time.
    • A Bridge Breaks under Markus: Happens automatically after meeting Lucy. Markus falls down to a room with some soldiers passing by.

Checkpoint: Markus in the Corridor (Only if ‘A Bridge Breaks under Markus’):

  • Sneak around the Soldiers: Happens automatically if Markus made it this far.
  • Soldiers Threaten Android: Also automatic. Markus will see two soldiers are about to execute two Jericho androids. He can now choose whether to intervene or not.
    • Intervene: Choose INTERVENE
      >Deal with Soldiers: Win the fight against soldiers (press the displayed button sequence).
      >>Androids Escape: Result of surviving the fight.
      >Get Shot: Don’t press any buttons when fighting the soldiers and they will shoot Markus.
      >>Markus Wounded: Lose the fight. If Markus was not previously shot in the corridor he will only be wounded but not die.
      >>Markus Collapses: Lose teh fight. If Markus was previously hit by a bullet in the corridor he collapses and dies.
      >>>Markus killed and most of Jericho captured (Ending): Markus was hit by a bullet in the first corridor, intervened so rescue the hostages but lost the fight and was shot dead.
    • Stay Away: Choose DON’T INTERVENE
      >Androids are Killed: The soldiers execute the androids.
  • Progress to the next Corridor: Unmissable if Markus made it this far.
  • Soldiers Coming Markus’ Way: Unmissable if Markus made it this far.
    • Jump Soldiers: During the 10s timer, choose to run straight ahead towards the soldiers to jump over them.
    • Climb Away: During the 10s timer, choose to climb the wall on the left.
    • Time Out: Let the 10s timer run out. Markus will get hit by a bullet. If was was injured before he can die here.
      >Markus Wounded: Markus wasn’t hurt before, let the timer run out.
      >Markus Collapses: Markus was already hurt and let the timer run out, then he dies.
      >>Markus Killed and Most of Jericho Captured (Ending): Markus dies. He was hit by a bullet earlier and now let the timer run out.
  • Enter a Well: Automatically if Markus made it this far.
  • Androids are Chased by Soldiers: Automatically if Markus made it this far. Two soldiers will threaten some androids.
    • Androids are Shot: Keep walking and ignore the androids, then they get shot.
  • Knock Soldiers Out: Immediately after the last 10s timed scene and climbing above the soldiers, you can interact with a rope on the right side. Then an object will crash down on the soldiers and knock them out so the androids can escape. If you go too far you will miss it.
    • Androids Escape: Result of the last choice above.
  • Approach the Hold: Automatically if Markus made it this far.
  • Josh Fighting a Soldier: Automatically if Markus made it this far (you see Josh fighting a soldier in corridor).
    • Intervene: Choose INTERVENE
      • Neutralize Soldiers: Win the fight.
      • Lose the Upper Hand: Lose the fight.
        >Markus Collapses: Lose the fight (*Need confirmation what exactly triggers this… already tested Markus being hit by bullets earlier or being unharmed, either way Josh jumped in front of him to save him… despite Josh being hostile in my game).
        >>Josh is shot by the Soldier: Result of Markus losing the fight and collpasing.
        >>>Markus Killed and Most of Jericho Captured (Ending): Result of the above 3 choices.
        >Josh Sacrifices Himself: Lose the fight. (*Need confirmation what exactly triggers Josh to sacrifice himself… in my game he was hostile and I tried with- and without Markus being hit by bullets earlier).
        >>Comfort Josh: Result of the above choice (Josh sacrificed himself).
        >Josh Escapes: Win the fight (press the displayed button sequence).
    • Stay Away: Choose HIDE
      • [CROSS CHAPTER] Soldier Shot Josh: Result of staying away.

Checkpoint: In the Hold with Markus

  • Enter Old Engine Control Room: Automatically if Markus survived so far.

      • Fail to Reach the Gun: Markus loses the fight against Connor (don’t press any buttons).
        >Connor Shoots Markus: Markus loses the fight against Connor (don’t press any buttons).
        >>Connor Killed Markus (Ending): Markus loses the fight against Connor (don’t press any buttons).
      • Reach the Gun: Markis wins the fight against Connor.
        >[CROSS CHAPTER] Markus Shoots Connor: Markis wins the fight against Connor.
        >>Trigger the Countdown: Markis wins the fight against Connor.
    • Soldiers Interrupt: If Connor became a deviant (or was deactivated), then Markus will fight some soldiers in the Old Engine Room.
      • Neutralize Them: Win fight against soldiers.
        >Trigger the Countdown: Result of the above.
      • Fail to Neutralize Them: Lose the fight against soldiers.
        >Markus is Shot Dead: Result of the above.
        >>Markus Killed and Most of Jericho Captured (Ending): Result of the above.

Checkpoint: In the Corridor with Markus

      >Markus Gets Shot: Automatic result of the above.
      >>North Escapes: Automatic result of the above.
      >>>Connor Jumps with Her: During the escape Markus stood around until time ran out. Connor turned deviant and jumps the ship with North.
      >>>Simon Jumps with Her: During the escape Markus stood around until time ran out. Simon is still alive (didn’t die in The Stratford Tower, Public Enemy, or Freedom March) and jumps the ship with North.
      >>>Josh Jumps with Her: During the escape Markus stood around until time ran out. Josh is still alive (saved him in the corridor) and jumps the ship with North.
      >>>Markus Died Buying Time for Jericho (Ending): Markus didn’t move in the corridor after setting the bomb, got shot by the police.
    • North is Shot: On your way out of Jericho, North gets shot by Police. Markus can choose to save her or run away.
      >Choose to Save North: Save North (recommended, allows you to play out the romance)
      >>Fail to Save North: Don’t press any buttons when trying to save North.
      >>>Connor Rescues Markus: If Connor turned deviant in the Captain’s Cabin, he will step in to rescue Markus.
      >>>>Kill the Soldiers: Successfully save North.
      >>>>Die Buying Some Time: Fail to save North. Don’t press any buttons and they will kill Connor (who stepped in for Markus).
      >>Save North: Successfully save North.
      >>>Connor Protects Markus and North: If Connor turned deviant he will help Markus to save North.
      >>>>Run to Exit: Result of Connor protecting Markus and North (then they run to the exit and jump).
      –> Continue with “Markus Jumps“.
      >Run Away: Don’t save North then she dies.
      >>Markus Jumps: Markus reaches the very end of the chapter alive.
      >>>Simon Jumps with Him: Simon is alive until the end of the chapter (didn’t die over the course of the game).
      >>>Josh Jumps with Him: Josh is alive until the end of the chapter (didn’t die over the course of the game).

It seems that, in all cases where Markus can be either wounded or killed, failing the QTE will only get him killed if he has already been wounded twice. This stumped me for a while when, despite having been shot once, I kept surviving.

yeah but how do you get wounded twice before he intervenes with androids. i do the “out of time” and get shot before meeting Lucy, then dont get another chance before i come to “soldiers threaten androids”

At the point where Josh is fighting the soldiers, the “Marcus Collapses” node unlocks if he was previously wounded and loses the fight while trying to save Josh.

If Markus is wounded then he will be unable to save North at the end and she’ll be killed.

The biggest decisions on that are present in Capitol Park and Freedom March. Simply fail the mission in Capitol Park and then Disperse in Freedom March. Doing both of those things brings down your opinion significantly.

Has anyone figured out how to get the “Josh Sacrifices Himself” node? I’ve tried it a variety of ways with no luck.

In order for Josh to sacrifice himself for Markus, they both must be on good terms with one another (they can’t feel negatively with each other). Don’t get shot throughout the whole corridor run, but when you get to the part with Josh, intervene and lose the fight by pressing the wrong buttons. He should sacrifice himself and Markus will unlock the “comfort Josh” node. Took me a few runs to get this one.

To unlock “Josh Sacrifices Himself”, Markus’s relationship with him needs to be Highly Positive. Basically in every mission where they are both involved, you always do what Josh recommends.

Thanks man! I’ll go through all your tips after I’m done with Tomb Raider Guide and update everything. Keep posting them!
In the later chapters it gets so utterly complex and getting feedback like yours really helps!

To unlock “Markus Ousted” it’s not enough to fail Capitol Park & Freedom March as your relation with all of the above is still neutral or friendly.

During my playthrough I had to do this:

Spare Parts – Fail to stop drone; Hide when John catches you stealing; stop running to escape when the radar is heard (however this can be considered optional).

Stratford Tower – Fail to lock the maintenance door; kill the guards; spare the running worker; kill Simon ON THE ROOFTOP. I went for a Determined speech but this only affects the Public’s opinion on you. This mission is considered successful but you still managed to lose one of your friends.

Capitol Park – I did the very worst thing I could: remained standing in front of Cyberlife Store for 10 full minutes. (If you need to do something else this is the time)

Freedom March – Kept a hostile relation with North by Leaving instead of talking about her past. During the march I avoided gathering androids and Dispersed twice.

In the end they will be furious at Markus.

There is a quicker way in capitol park to gain a negative opinion from Jericho. Once you have started the timer (automatically after reaching the store), neutralize the alarms (but do not take out the drone first). When you finish hacking the network, the drone will spot you and you get 3 options (run, look, and hide). Look at the drone and North will destroy it, but it will trigger a cop car. At this point take the option to run away and your standing with Jericho will automatically go down.

For Capitol Park, I failed to destroy the drone, and when police came, I fled. Super quick mission fail ????

good evening, I have a problem in this chapter, specifically to the point where markus has to save 2 androids with the QTE, the problem is the “markus collapses”, I got myself shot in the corridor before but when I get to the point of QTE then I’m wrong, they shoot me, but it always unlocks “markus injured” and doesn’t “collapse”, I tried several times but it never collapses, why?

Just don’t get hurt lol. You can either not fail any of the QTEs or just do the non-intervening options when they give you them (though that will lower your reputation with Jericho). So for example, when you are given the option to save the two androids (the intervene or stay away nodes in the flow chart) if you intervene, don’t fail any of the QTEs and if you don’t want to risk failing the QTEs, don’t intervene at all.

Idk if anyone has posted this or not yet since the game has been out for a couple years now but during the fight with the guard to save Josh, to get the “Markus Collapses” node (and the “Josh is Shot by Soldiers” and “Markus Killed and Most of Jericho Captured” nodes as well), you have to have been shot twice before. (I did it by getting the “Wrong Way” node and the intervening to save the two Androids (but losing the fight) just after the “Markus in The Corridor” node.

You have in your walkthrough you need confirmation on how to get Markus collapsing after intervening to help Josh. I accomplished this by intervening with the two androids at gunpoint earlier and failing all QTE’s, allowing Markus to get shot. Then when intervening with Josh, I failed all QTE’s again and this results in both Josh and Markus getting shot, with the ending “Markus killed and most of Jericho captured”. Hope this helps

I don’t know if “Run to Exit” is correct here. I was able to unlock it by NOT having Connor with me. He was a Machine in the run it unlocked. Not sure if he can be dead. He just can’t be there to save North and Markus, lol. Markus saved North by himself and it unlocked.

How I got the Josh, Simon and North Discuss node = Markus is dead. Simon, Josh, and North are alive.

Simon’s relationship stat has to be at Neutral and he obviously has to be alive

My “Simon doesn’t save Markus” Playthrough
Spare Parts: Successfully destroy the drone, Grab and hide John, Release John, Convert the androids in the container, Accept the other androids to join Jericho, Fail the guardhouse event (anyway you want), Sustain damage trying to save John = Fail Mission
Stratford Tower: Lock the maintenance door, Ruse the guards, Spare the news operator, Save and spare Simon (Which should bring his relationship stat to Neutral)
Capitol Park: Basically failing to get into the Cyberlife store via out of time, running away from cops or triggering the alarm (I took the alarm option)
Freedom March: Choose the sacrifice option and Simon should not save Markus

Now in my 2nd playthrough I varied it up by not failing the Capitol Park mission and Simon decided to save Markus in Freedom March anyway. Even though choosing the stand your ground option brought his relationship stat with Markus to Neutral right before Markus sacrifices himself. Markus sacrificing himself brought his reputation with Jericho to Leader.

you don’t have to be close with Josh for him to save you. I got him to save me and I have the hostile relationship with him. All you have to do is don’t let Markus get shot at all up until Josh is fighting the soldier intervene in the fight and then don’t press any buttons.
