Crossroads is the 30th chapter in Detroit Become Human. This walkthrough will guide you through all of Connor’s choices of the Crossroads level for 100% completion.
This chapter begins after completing Last Chance, Connor.
Crossroads is a very long and intertwined level and the results of previous chapters heavily impact which paths/dialogues you can or can’t take.
The Crossroads Walkthrough is split into 3 parts, one per flowchart:
Crossroads Connor Flowchart 100% Complete:
Here’s a quick overview of the Flowchart (Connor’s flowcharts for Crossroads courtesy of user BromptonCcktail):
Checkpoint: At Ferndale
- Follow Jericho Trail: Look at your hand to see the Jericho art and match it to the wall. You’ll quickly move on to the next section.
In the Ship
- Spot Kara:
- Spot Alice:
- Spot Explosives:
- Spot Traci: If you let the Tracis go in The Eden Club
- Read “Detroit in Chaos“: Found on a crate in the middle of the room.
- Read “Terror in Detroit”: Found on a crate in the middle of the room.
Eventually, you will be spotted.
- Stopped by Lucy: After a short conversation you’ll transition back to Kara.
The next branch will be determined by previous chapters:
- Back in Captain’s Cabin: You’ll be on this path if Markus is still alive.
- Enter Captain’s Cabin: Once you enter the Captain’s Cabin, Markus will try to sow doubt in the mind of Connor, giving you your last chance to increase/decrease your Software Instability before Connor is given the opportunity to become a deviant.
- Threaten Markus: Keep making dialogue choices that focus on your mission, or bringing Markus in.
- Confront Markus:
- Remain a Machine: [CROSS CHAPTER IMPACT] When Markus says “Its time to decide”, choose REMAIN A MACHINE.
- Become a Deviant: [CROSS CHAPTER IMPACT] (Unlocked by having a high software instability) When Markus says “Its time to decide”, choose BECOME A DEVIANT. If your software instability is too low, you won’t have this option available and will be forced to follow your programming.
- Back in Captain’s Cabin with North: You’ll be on this path if Markus has died in a previous chapter.
- Enter Captain’s Cabin: As with Markus North will try to sway you, giving you your last chance to increase/decrease your Software Instability before Connor is given the opportunity to become a deviant:
- Threaten Markus: Keep making dialogue choices that focus on your mission, or bringing North in.
- Remain a Machine: [CROSS CHAPTER IMPACT] Same as before, choose REMAIN A MACHINE.
- Become a Deviant: [CROSS CHAPTER IMPACT] (Unlocked by having a high software instability) Choose BECOME A DEVIANT. If your software instability is too low, you won’t have this option available and will be forced to follow your programming.
The choice of whether or not to become a deviant is a major one, and essentially puts Connor on a different path for the rest of the game for Connor:
Machine Path:
- Jericho is Under Attack: At exactly the wrong moment, the US Army will show up with tactical teams to ruin your day.
- Markus Jumps Connor: If you chose to remain a machine, Markus will jump Connor. You will struggle for a moment before he manages to make his getaway.
- North Jumps Connor: If Markus is dead, it will play out the same way with North.
- Checkpoint: In the Ship
- Pursue Markus: If Markus is still alive, this will happen automatically.
- Pursue North: Or if Markus is dead, this will happen automatically.
- Cargo Hall
- Stopped by Soldier: You will be stopped by a soldier, who you will try to convince that you’re on his side.
- Perkins Alibi: Choose the option PERKINS EXCUSE.
- Attempt to Persuade: Choose the option LIE.
- Attack: You will have to succeed at a QTE:
- Neutralize Assailant: If you beat the soldier, you will be able to:
- Resume Pursuit
- Fail to Neturalize Assailant: If you don’t beat the solider, the outcome is the same as the RUN choice below.
- Neutralize Assailant: If you beat the soldier, you will be able to:
- Run: Not a good move.
- Soldiers Shoot Connor: Told you.
- Machine Connor was Destroyed
- Cyberlife Will Send a New Connor
- Soldiers Shoot Connor: Told you.
If your response is accepted, you’ll be allowed to continue:
- Resume Pursuit: The pursuit will continue in one of two ways depending on who you’re chasing
- Connor Interrupts and Markus Pushes Him Aside: Connor is really bad at this gun thing. There will be a QTE that you’ll play as Markus to determine Connor’s fate.
- Fail to Reach Gun Before Markus: Bad at guns, bad at running.
- Markus Shoots Connor: Oops.
- Machine Connor Was Destroyed: [CROSS CHAPTER IMPACT]
- Cyberlife Will Send a New Connor
- Reach Gun Before Markus: If Markus fails the QTE, Connor reaches the gun instead.
- Connor Shoots Markus: Ouch.
- Connor Killed Markus: [Cross Chapter Impact] Mission accomplished.

Am I just not getting it or is there a major logical error in the story here…
For me, if Connor takes Markus’ place here in Crossroads because Markus dies along the way AND then Connor also dies in the course of the chapter, he still shows up as DEVIANT (!) Connor in Night of the Soul (visiting Hank’s place and on Sacred Ground with North).
BUT when I continue playing he THEN shows up as replaced, non-deviant Connor Model in Battle for Detroit on the roof (as you would indeed expect)….
In other words, deviant Connor first promises North to infiltrate the Cyberlife Tower and then simply “vanishes” from the storyline… ?!?
Mike says
Yep encountered the same thing today when i was trying to get the hostile Hank, deviant Connor, Connor alone at Cyberlife warehouse ending. Seems the developers made a major oversight in the scenario where Markus dies. Was absolutely shattered because i tried to go back to before Markus died in Crossroads and the game loaded an older playthrough.
Emily says
This happened to me too and I thought I was nuts! Thanks for confirming the bug!
Ashe says
I know it’s probably not super important, but can’t find Traci. I didn’t shoot her, but I’ve looked everywhere, and I only found Kara, Alice, and Rupert.
Jennifer says
When you first walk in, they are together upstairs to the left. Just look up & over & the option to focus on them should pop up.
Lachlan says
what needs to be done in order to complete “Connor Takes Over Markus’ Mission”? I’ve tried having Markus die in Freedom March and then tried having him die on the way to detonate the explosive show in the hull in Crossroads and have Connor take over making the run for the bomb in the hull, but it refuses to fill the “Connor Takes over Markus’ Mission” box
Lachlan says
for anyone still stuck on unlocking this node; I just figured it out.
When playing as Markus running through the corridors to reach the explosives in the hold, fail the QTE fight when Markus tries to intervene and save the androids from the army, then when you have to make the choice right after to run past the two militants or jump them, simply wait for the timer to run out so Markus dies. Connor will take over and it will skip straight to him finding Josh dying
Moon says
Thanks, that really helped
Jake says
Okay, so when connor Becomes deviant and Markus is dead, Connor takes over the mission. I’m stuck on the part where the soldiers threaten the androids, you choose intervene, then there is “Kill The Soldiers” or “Get Shot” I did none of the QTE but it doesn’t work Connie only just ends up wounded. I can’t get the second node for “Get Shot” anyone figure this out? It’s ridiculous. Makes ZERO sense.
darkrage6 says
Here’s how that works, the soldiers will only kill you if you’ve already been shot twice before, and you get shot by running in the opposite direction you are headed. Get shot a total of three times and you die, so to get killed by the soldiers threatening the androids, run in the opposite direction as Markus until you get shot twice, then go to the soldiers, choose intervene and lose the fight and they will kill you.
Hanen says
Can someone tell me how to get connor wounded because I always end up dead or help the android …..
Jess says
I believe a cutscene happens if Connor gets near to the stairs in Jericho. Try to avoid it or to quickly skip the game, just get close to the stairs and it will trigger Lucy to find you.
MLG Shadow101 says
How do I get deviant Conner in the corridor??? Does Markus and north have to be dead or something? Cause when I make Conner deviant, on the flowchart it just skips to “Conner joins the others” please let me know what I need to do cause I’m missing allot of the flowchart!
Mish says
For me, Connor did Markus’s usual mission because I got Markus kicked out of Jericho by constantly messing up/causing a negative reputation with Jericho
Michelle W. says
Is there any way to save Josh when you’rebplaying as Connor in the corridor in Markus’s place?
Oskar? says
Sadly no, only Marcus has the option to save Josh. Idk why.
Ben G says
Powerpyx you should mention in the guide that you’re only stopped when Connor approaches the stairs.
Nicki says
I would also like to add that the magazines only appear if Markus attacked the police in Freedom March
Rdfs says
Omg thank you, I thought I was going crazy because I couldn’t find it before after playing this chapter so many times. Luckily I had Markus attack the police in this version that I’m playing now and finally was able to read the f*cking mag. It’s right next to the pink-uniform-android’s butt.
Kaitlyn says
You missed “Spot Rupert” in the “Explore Jericho” section. It’s at the beginning of “Crossroads-Connor”
Tony T says
– NEED HELP –
So after “Become Deviant>Warn Markus>Jericho Is Under Attack” I can not get it to go to what’s referred to as “The Fourth Path” (Deviant Conner In Corridor>Join Deviants>Make For Hold etc). I’ve tried quite a few different scenarios but it always skips ahead to the other “Deviant Conner in the Corridor”. I guess now I’ll find out if questions are ever answered on here any more lol
Thanks : )
Byproduct says
I appreciate the massive amount of effort that must’ve gone into making these guides. Enjoying reading through all of them and discovering what I’ve missed in the game.
