Battle for Detroit is the 32nd and final chapter in Detroit Become Human. This walkthrough will guide you through all of Kara’s choices of the Battle for Detroit level for 100% completion.
This chapter begins after completing Night of the Soul.
The Battle for Detroit Walkthrough is split into 3 parts, one per character (2 flowcharts each):
Battle for Detroit is a very long and intertwined level and the results of previous chapters heavily impact which paths/dialogues you can or can’t take.
Generally, Battle for Detroit has two Flowcharts for each of the three characters and it depends on your choices in Crossroads, where you will start.
- Kara Captured: If you were captured in Crossroads, you will start here.
- Kara leaving Detroit: If you escaped in Crossroads, you will start here.
- Being spotted early on in this chapter will take you to the Kara Captured-Flowchart as well.

- Deviant shot trying to escape / Soldier orders Android to move the body: unmissable, the soldiers will always shoot an Android and order another to drag the body away

- Android refuses to help and is shot / Kara & Alice get separated: unmissable, our two protagonists always part ways here
- Volunteer / Carry Android: choose to drag the body away yourself
- Climb Truck: at the end of the way there is a Truck, which could be the perfect exit for you & Alice (& Luther, if he is alive)
- Go Back: head back to the gates and proceed
- Leave / ENDING Kara leaves Camp without Alice: HOW DARE YOU?
- Alice died in Recycling Machine: THAT’S YOUR FAULT! [If Markus is dead or fails to free the camp]
- Alice freed by Markus: It went kind of well for Alice, but was still a scumbag move by Kara! [If Markus frees the camp]
- Climb Truck: at the end of the way there is a Truck, which could be the perfect exit for you & Alice (& Luther, if he is alive)
- Say nothing: choose not to intervene here
Explore Enclosure
- Caught by Drone: look for the drone above you and its white spotlight – if you get spotted, it will warm you not to move
- Remain Still: follow its instructions and freeze
- Move / Drone wounded Kara: if you move in its red spotlight, it will shoot you. [If Markus doesn’t free the Camp, Kara will die in this chapter, if wounded here.]
- Move / Kara is killed by the Drone: if the drone catches and shoots you a second time, Kara will die
- Alice died in Recycling Machine: if Markus is dead or fails to free the camp, Alice will die as well
- Alice freed by Markus: if Markus frees the camp, Alice will be freed as well
- Distressed Android is shot: to the right side of your enclosure, an Android will get spotted by the drone and get shot
- Talk to Jerry: one of the Jerry’s is located on the left side of your enclosure – he thinks that “they” have seen Alice and says we should talk to another Jerry
- Talk to other Jerry / Alice gets taken away: another Jerry is held in the adjacent right enclosure (where the Android was shot by the drone – watch out for it). He will fetch Alice, but she will be taken away by soldiers
- Talk to rescued Android: if you have volunteered to drag the body away earlier and thus have saved the other Android from being killed, he can be talked to in your enclosure
- [CROSS CHAPTER] Talk to Scarred Android: if you have freed the “Monsters” in Zlatko‘s basement, you can talk to one here
- [CROSS CHAPTER] Talk to Ralph / Ralph attracts Drone’s attention: if you met Ralph in Fugitives, you can talk to him here
- Give up:
- Insist / Ralph is killed:
- Calm down / Ralph settles down:
- [CROSS CHAPTER] Talk to Luther / Luther gets taken away: if you saved him in Midnight Train and possibly in Crossroads, you can talk to him here – he is at the end of the enclosure
- Intervene: try to stop Luther being taken away – with little success
- Do not intervene: don’t try to stop the soldiers
Checkpoint: Join Line / Join Alice
- Alice panics and runs to Kara: if you stand in your line for too long and don’t get to Alice quick enough, she will run towards you, once her stress level has reached 100%
- Intervene / Kara gets shot / Kara died in the Lines: choose to run in front of Alice to protect her from being shot – and get killed yourself
- Alice died in Recycling Machine: if Markus is dead or fails to free the camp, Alice will die as well
- Alice freed by Markus: if Markus frees the camp, Alice will be freed as well
- Do not intervene / Alice gets shot: let Alice run towards you and watch her being killed
- Kara is dead: if Markus is dead or fails to free the camp, Kara will die as well
- Kara freed by Markus: if Markus frees the camp, Kara will be freed as well
- Intervene / Kara gets shot / Kara died in the Lines: choose to run in front of Alice to protect her from being shot – and get killed yourself
- Line moves forward: unmissable
- Get shot / Alice’s stress increases: if Kara does not obey and moves forward, she will be hit the first and shot the second time
- Get killed / Kara died in the Lines: if Kara already got wounded by the Drone before, she can die here, if she does not obey
- Alice died in Recycling Machine: if Markus is dead or fails to free the camp, Alice will die as well
- Alice freed by Markus: if Markus frees the camp, Alice will be freed as well
- Alice asks Questions: at some point, Alice is frightened and will ask, what’s going to happen in this place
- Reassure: pull out a lie and convince here that everything is cool
- Truth: be sincere to Alice
- Say Nothing: ignore her and don’t choose any option
- Talk to Android behind Kara: if Markus is about the free the camp, he will inform you about it and can be talked to a second time afterwards
- Talk to Android ahead of Kara: ask the Android in front of you, what is going to happen in this camp. Oh Kara, at the end of the game and still so naive…
- [CROSS CHAPTER] Talk to Luther: if you saved him in Midnight Train and possibly in Crossroads, you can talk to him here
- Observe Guards: pretty much unmissable – they stand at the end of the enclosure
- [CROSS CHAPTER] Talk to Ralph: if you met Ralph in Fugitives and didn’t get him killed earlier in this chapter, you can talk to him here again
- [CROSS CHAPTER] Talk to Scarred Android: if you have freed the “Monsters” in Zlatko‘s basement, you can talk to one here and ask for a diversion (see below at Jerry’s node)
- Talk to Jerry: there is always at least one Jerry around, which you can ask for a diversion in order to make it to Alice’s line
- Ask to create Diversion / Soldiers are distracted / Reach Alice: the standard-path out of this branch – watch out for the Drone’s location and head over to Alice
- Kara gets caught by the Drone: if you step into the Drone’s spotlight, it will order you to go back in line. If it was close to your line, you have to go back – if it was already close to Alice’s line, you can go there
- Ask to create Diversion / Soldiers are distracted / Reach Alice: the standard-path out of this branch – watch out for the Drone’s location and head over to Alice
- Jerry dies: if you asked Jerry for a diversion (instead of the Scarred Android, if available), Jerry will die
In Line / Find a Way to Escape
- Line moves forward: unmissable
- Get shot: if Kara does not obey and moves forward, she will be hit the first and shot the second time
- Get killed / Kara died in the Lines: if Kara already got wounded by the Drone before, she can die here, if she does not obey
- Alice died in Recycling Machine: if Markus is dead or fails to free the camp, Alice will die as well
- Alice freed by Markus: if Markus frees the camp, Alice will be freed as well
- Luther reaches Recycling Machine: if you are too slow to make decisions, Luther has to go into the machine and is killed
- Reach Recycling Machine: if you are really too slow, Kara & Alice have to go into the machine
- Alice & Kara died in the Recycling Machine: be quicker next time!
- Markus liberates Androids / Kara & Alice survived: got lucky!
- Observe Barbed Wire: the wire on the right side seems like a good exit-point for us
- Talk to Jerry / Ralph / Luther / Scarred Android: whoever is left alive can be asked to create a diversion for us. The Scarred Android (if available) is the best choice, as it doesn’t lead to a casualty. Picking Luther to sacrifice himself disables the happier endings of this branch.

- Kara & Alice survived: if you either plunged into the water or if Luther was with you and you sought shelter behind him, you will both live – Kara can survive the water, if not wounded
- Kara is damaged and shuts down / Kara died and Alice survived: if Kara was wounded in the Boat, the cold water will kill her

Hi, I trigger the Alice panic and let Kara die, then make Markus’s revolution success, but still cannot unlock “Alice freed by Markus. Is there any mistakes?

I’m not sure why that’s happening, but there’s more than one way to get Kara killed in the lines. Try another way.

There’s 3 possible ways to get Kara killed in the lines, but one of them has impact with Markus’ revolution failure which means that way Alice won’t be freed by Markus. There other two possible ways to get that node unlocked won’t work, think this used to work before an update and now it just doesn’t work.

I see no one is talking about the missing option at the Canadian border. Does anyone have any idea how to get it? I tried keeping Todd alive and not allowing him to find me at the bus stop. It has nothing to do with Ralph, not that he’d get through there anyway. I tried just waiting in line and not talking to Rose.
Perhaps if Jericho was not attacked and Connor didn’t capture any deviants, you might find one of them here? Or maybe if you were rude to the Jerrys and didn’t save them?

In ‘Kara Captured’ I’m missing the node for ‘Jerry dies’ in the ‘Find a way to join Alice’ section, I’ve sent him to distract the guards and they just gave him a warning. I couldn’t send him a second time either. Am I missing something or doing it wrong.

At the river bank, if Kara and Alice dive into the water, they both survive. I haven’t done it with Kara, Alice, and Luther, so maybe it’s different with all 3 of them present.
What I can say for sure, though, is that when it’s just Kara and Alice, diving into the water to escape the gunfire results in both of them surviving at the end.

So, I can now confirm. Regardless of who is at the river bank, diving into the water to avoid the gunshots will save Kara and Alice. Luther will always die at the river bank.

How did you unlock the “Jerry dies” node? I’ve used him as a distraction in both scenarios and it doesn’t unlock. There must be a condition I’m missing.

Jerry wont die at Kara – Captured. i sent him for a disctraction, join Alice or fail to join Alice and wait in line all the time but the node wont unlock…what am i missing?

I’m having this issue too, it’s one of the few nodes I’m missing (i’m at 92%). If I send Jerry (the one in the right lane close to the recycling machine) at the first opportunity (before joining Alice) the guards knock him down, tell him to get back up, and then he goes back in line. If I’m reading the flowchart correctly this event happens before Kara joins Alice.

You have to wait for the line to move forward enough that JErry gets put into the machine. Essentially do nothing till he’s dead.

I can’t get this node either. I tried to send him and than join alice, send him and get spotted, or send him and stand still, talking to scarred android before, or only to jerry, each one multiple times. This node won’t unlock. What am I missing?

I had the same issue until I decided not to do ANYTHING except moving forward in line until he was in the recycling machine. This was AFTER I talked to him but I did NOT send him or anyone else to distract the guards..

We need to talk about the canadian border one, i haven’t been able to get my head around what could be done> tried getting it by leaving alice with the temperature emulation, being good and bad with alice, checking screens with north at the helm, connor and markus died, checking all three body temperature checks, i feel there is somebody that should be there but is not.
I have not checked if ralph can be there if we go to canadian border after chatting with him, or if zlavko can somehow survive.
Has anyone got this, or has any idea of how it can be.

Ralph won’t be at Canadian border, he will be at the Recall center.
I also tried to stay cold with Alice but nothing happen, seems that’s only for the Crossroad leaving ending.
If there’s someone, we don’t have much choices, Zlavko is definitely dead, only Ralph or Todd could be listed up but we don’t have them there(Todd at the bus stop though).

There is something strange, i saw on a french walkthrough ( on supersoluce.com) that there is on node in the french version of the game, i saw a screenshot and there is nothing between talk to luhter and talk to jerry

The missing option was removed with the last patch. Seems to have been a bug.

Any clarity on how to get ‘Jerry dies’ in the Kara Captured chart? It’s driving me crazy.

Yes, simply talk to jerry so that he offers to help you and then move forward in line until the jerry is dead. Don’t talk to other androids or move out of line because you have to look at the machine while he goes in and dies.
Don’t send him to distract the guards. This is how it worked for me.
This and two other nodes are the only things missing for my 100% completion of the whole game. I hope it helps!

Not sure how this is possible considering Jerry is behind you in the lines — at least he is if you join Alice. If you don’t join Alice well… you’ll either die intervening or she is shot and you’ll automatically get the Kara freed/died in recycling machine ending. So… how are you supposed to get Jerry into the machine for this?

Ah, nevermind. You just have to keep Alice calm and you can make it that far. It will show a cutscene for Luther reaching the machine, but not for Jerry — he’ll go in at the same time though, on the opposite line.

For some reason, I’m having a hard time getting the “Watch Broadcast about Jericho’s Attack” node to work. I had Connor find Jericho which resulted in Jericho being attacked. Then as Kara begins to leave the city, I look at the TV with the broadcast through the shop window with L1. But at the end of the chapter, the node is still locked.
This one and the one about looking at the hanged androids seem kinda buggy. I have to walk right up to the window with the hanged androids to get the little cutscene where Kara looks away or else it doesn’t count. And as I’ve said, I still can’t get the watch broadcast node to unlock. I even had some instances where the TV didn’t appear at all, even though Jericho was attacked.

I did get the broadcast to show at all until I chose “Jericho Attack” during the interview. I’ve had multiple instances where the watch or see something node didn’t unlock until i stared at it long enough. Usually the que is the L symbol disappearing from the corner of the screen.

Choosing “Jericho Attack” is something I haven’t tried, but now I’m having an issue with THAT showing up during the president interview. Why is the game acting like Jericho was never attacked?

To unlock “Talk to Android ahead of Kara”, Kara must choose “Say nothing” and does not volunteer to drag the android body away when she and Alice leave the tent. Otherwise, she will see what’s happening in the recycling center and therefore know what’s going on.
To unlock “Talk to Android behind Kara”, Markus must be alive and choose revolution to free the camp. Otherwise, this option won’t be available. North leading the revolution will NOT unlock this option for Kara.

Hi there! Need a little issue to be solved here. Situation goes like this:
At “SECURITY CHECKPOINT” I am missing the 2nd (NOT the first one) node “ASK LUTHER TO SHOOT” (right before Alice finds out afterwards the Guard just wanted to return her glove to her).
I am there with Kara, Alice & Luther of course and I tried absolutely everything but this node just won’t unlock – no matter what I do. If I shoot him at 2nd given option (like I should) he shoots the guard but the node still keeps locked.
I tried many different paths before but the outcome always stays the same. Anyone here with the same problem or even an working solution at best…? Would be much appreciated.

Figured this out. _After_ guard approaches, first choose to nothing, because you will be prompted once again with a dialog to shoot (so, this is a third question about shooting). Then finally choose to shoot.

For some reason, I’m having a hard time getting the version of
“WATCH TV” [MARKUS ATTACKS HUMANS] node to unlock at the BUS TERMINAL.
Of course on my current playthrough, Markus is alive and on a Revolution Path to assure the correct TV message to be shown there. But still I’m not getting it unlocked. I tried pretty much every possible variation (Luther alive + Luther dead / Security Checkpoint + Detour) on my way there. I even tried having North leading the revolution (as Markus was killed earlier). Nothing!
As I am currently at 99% completion rate in this chapter, I’m starting to get really frustrated, since this is the last node needed for the 100% completion.
So, anyone here with a good idea…???

I’m also really struggling with this. I have Markus doing his peaceful demonstration and I can’t seem to get it to pop. I literally sat there with the L1 button pressed for like 2 minutes and it did nothing. Is it just glitched slightly or what?

I’m really having trouble with this one. In my case, with every play the sign L1 doesn’t show up on the Terminal TV even if it appears all the time on both Broadcast TVs and the Guards inspecting people. I tried to get out of the Terminal but once inside (through a cutscene) you simply can’t go back out except if you have the ticket or Adam comes to the rescue. It’s really frustrating that for a stupid glitch you can’t get 100% :/
Either through Demonstration or Revolution, the sign simply refuses to show up.

I figured out how to do this one, it’s similar to the hanging android node in that simply viewing it does not count, you have to get really close to the TVs and then press L1 for a bit and let it go, if you did it right, you’ll get a brief cutscene of Kara looking at the TV in shock and saying “Markus!” and then the node will unlock.

Unable to unlock ‘Talk to scarred android’ in ‘Find a way to escape sequence’. I used jerry to create diversion in ‘Find a way to join Alice’ sequence and I have freed scarred androids in zlatko. Also the option to use scarred android shows up in ‘Find a way to join Alice’ sequence but not in ‘Find a way to escape sequence’. Automatically goes to ‘Reach recycling machine’ even if I am quite fast. Am I missing something?

If you freed it in “Zlatko” it should be there at both times ready to create diversion once you talked to it at the beginning when you’re looking for Alice (place where you can talk to Ralph, Luther and Jerry as well). Sounds more like some kind of bug if you ask me. Just try the restart at least the whole chapter (if not better some other chapters before). In most cases this helped me out getting “unlockable” nodes to finally unlock.

Guys I’m having trouble with the Kara Captured, all I need to do is get Kara shot again once she is in line with Alice.
Problem is I’m leading a Markus revolution at the same time, and once you make it over to Alice it cuts straight to Markus to blow up the tanks.
So I can’t achieve “in line with Alice-line moves forward-Kara killed-Kara dies in the lines-Alice is saved by Markus.
Can anyone help?

Hey there! You have to make it so that Markus fails the revolution. I did this when he reaches the machine gun and has to order the three groups to attack. Send all groups to “charge” each time until the success rate drops to 0% and Markus retreats back to the store. It should then cut back to Kara and Alice.
Another option is to have North lead the revolution as it will always fail with her leading it.
Or, you could have Markus die before this point, keep running into the high risk areas without asking for covering fire and Markus will eventually be too damaged to continue and thus, the revolution will fail.

To get Markus to save Alice, here’s what you need to do: get Kara and Alice captured and sent to the recycling center, then a little ways you’ll get a chance to volunteer to dump the dead body of android, be sure to do so, after dumping the body you’ll be given an option to escape the camp and abandon Alice-do so and then as Markus you have to chosen the Revolution(I.E. Violent) approach in Night of the Soul and make sure that you succeed, do so and the “Markus Saves Alice” node should unlock.

I managed this last “Marcus Saves Alice” (when Kara dies in the lines) by having Markus win the revolution but Connor was discontinued in a previous chapter..

Somehow the “Kara & Alice were killed” node after loosing the fight with the guard is glitched for me (but the flow chart says 100% completed). Looks like you shouldn’t have met Ralph at all to unlock it (maybe? Luther died in “Midnight Train” & I chose Ralph to distract the guards/sacrifice himself).

I can’t unlock the node where Kara, at the bus station, has to watch tv, when marcus is leading the pacific protest. For some unknown reason, i can unlock ‘watch tv’ node, but not the ‘Marcus is leading the protest’ (in my playthrough marcus is leading the protest with pacific approach). Thanks

So after the last chapter, change one decision and you have to wait through the credits in order for it to save? Is there any way to skip this? Not sure if I have the patience to sit through the credits that many times…

After the first bit with the credits with the pictures from the game, there should be a cut scene (after the good ending). After that, different credits will roll. Press the circle button, and it should take you to the flowcharts from “Battle for Detroit. ” (I had the same problem).

Short answer, the game is janky. Long answer, if Luther is with you, you’ll be able to hide behind him by looking in his direction.
If you need help saving him, when at Rose’s house, hide him in the kitchen AND BE SURE TO CLOSE THE CURTAIN, send him up stairs or send him to the laundry room (I suggest this because it kills to birds with one stone. Then, when in Jericho, be sure to save him after he gets shot in the leg and don’t die (obviously). Next, in battle for detroit (the segment where you see the hanging androids (or not) and get the gun on the snowy streets) If you don’t get caught, you’ll come across him AND a Jerry, choose to save them. You then have to proceed as normal. You can take the detour which will force you down the river path, or you can take the route through the checkpoint and choose to return the tickets.

If you already have that section unlocked, no. You can just choose wake up in car/house/motel section from the flowchart in the chapters section on the main opening screen. If you don’t have them or don’t want to mess up your previous chapter choices you’ll have to go back to chapter 8 and do everything over.

Can someone help me ?? How do I view the barbed wire. I get over to slice and it never gives me that option and the next time I see Kara she’s being recycled and game over … I did it once but can’t get that option again.

If anyone doesn’t know how to unlock the node “Luther Intervenes” on the flow chart, here is how:
Have Luther be the only one alive who is able to help (Jerry is dead, Ralph is dead and no longer in the line, use the last one to get to the Barbed wire, Luther needs to be alive still and you cannot have used him for a distraction) and if you fail the QTE (fight with the guard) he comes back through the barbed wire to save you, thus unlocking “Luther Intervenes”.

I read another guide and apparently to get missing node at temperature check,If you wait long enough in the line, an Android will end up being spotted and executed in front of you, thats what the guide says

The guide says they are unmissable, but I cannot get the “Line moves forward” to unlock in the Find a Way to Alice section of Kara Captured. I can get the second one once I am reunited with Alice in line, but the first never unlocks. I have tried standing still until I get hit or shot. I have even avoided rejoining Alice until both die and it still will not unlock.

I can’t get the “Kara and Alice killed” ending when Alice gets past the barbed wire; I had Kara fight the soldier and failed the QTEs so both she and Alice died, but the node didn’t unlock; can anyone help?

The same thing happened to me, until I realized that there are two ways to unlock that ending. I tried to get Kara to lose her fight to the soldier many times to no avail, I was 100% but that node was missing from the flowchart. Then I tried it the other way, making it to the end of the recycling center without Luther and without Ralph. I used the freak robot from the Zlatko segment as a distraction to join Alice, and then Jerry to get to the barbed wire. When the soldier appears instead of fighting I chose the “Flee” option and then the soldier kills Kara and Alice. After the end credits the missing node appeared. Hope that helps.

How do you get Kara to survive after Alice reaches 100% stress? I thought it was because you needed to talk with the android behind you so Kara knows that Markus is demonstrating but on mine it won’t give me the option to talk to him. It’s literally the only one I’m missing at this point ? Does Connor need to be alive for it or something? I don’t get it!
