This page reveals the Death Stranding Game Length, how long it takes to beat the story and get 100% completion.
Death Stranding Story Length:
- Story Length: 35-45 hours. Beating the story took me about 38 hours when deducting idle time. The game keeps track of your time and idle time in the statistics and you also get a summary screen after the story. I watched all cutscenes and didn’t rush it. I did some side orders here and there with a bit of exploration mixed in. Cutscenes make up an estimated 7 hours. So without cutscenes it’s closer to around 30 hours.
The Story consists of 14 Episodes. Episode 3 is the longest by far and took me nearly 10 hours. Episode 2 is the second longest and took around 6 hours. From Episode 9 onward the game Episodes get much shorter, some lasting less than an hour. So some Episodes are really quite long and involve lots of deliveries, others are more cinematic and only last minutes.
Death Stranding Time to 100% & Platinum Trophy:
- To 100% complete the game and get the Platinum Trophy: 125-175 Hours. If you make frequent use of Vehicles and Ziplines you can travel long distances quickly. Without Ziplines it would easily be 250 hours or more. What does 100% consist of?: For this purpose it means beating the story, getting all facilities to maximum level (5 stars), finding all collectibles, crafting all items once, and getting the Platinum Trophy. In this measurement I don’t include every single side order in the game. There is no tracker for those and you get a random pool of delivery choices at each terminal, so it would be quite hard to do each one of them once. It could be done in under 100 hours when playing really time-oriented and rushing it (skipping all cutscenes), but for most players it will take around 150 hours to max out all facilities in Death Stranding.
What do you think of Death Stranding’s Length? Too long, too short, just right? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

When you say “It could be done in under 100 hours when playing really time-oriented and rushing it” do you mean the entire Platinum as a whole? (Making it 50 – 60 hours for the post-game grind?)
I don’t want to rush the story, but the post-game grind? Absolutely.

Correct, platinum COULD be done in under 100h if you skip all cutscenes. I know a plat achiever who took 110 hours WITHOUT a guide, so it’s certainly possible to do 100h with guide. He combined lots of deliveries and pretty much only used vehicles and ziplines.
But most other platinum achievers so far took around 200h without guide.
I think the average will be around 150h for most people to get platinum.
The thing is, it can range anywhere from 100h-200h. For the trophy guide I put 125-175h as it’s the most realistic that will apply to 90% of players (100-200h would have been too broad and 100h is really the most optimistic outlook and most people won’t want to skip all cutscenes).

Thanks PP. It’s only the post game grind I’m worried about. The time isn’t an issue in of itself, it’s more I want to minimise the post game grind as much as possible!!
