In Death Stranding, the generator is used to charge vehicles and equipment. All vehicles run on electricity and must be charged with a generator when their battery is low.
How to Unlock Generator: You unlock the generator by simply accepting “[Order No. 11] Resins Delivery: Distribution Center West of Capital Knot City”. This order starts at the “Wind Farm” in Eastern Region, the image below shows the spot.
Right after accepting this order, you are told the Generator schematic has been unlocked.
Item Description: Generator (Lv. 1): A wind-powered generator capable of charging vehicles and equipment within its immediate vicinity.
How to Use Generator to Charge Vehicles:
- You must first go to a terminal, choose Fabricate Equipment, make a PCC (the equipment piece that lets you build structures).
- Exit the terminal, hold
to open crafting wheel, select “PCC”. - Hold
to select which structure you want to build, pick “Generator”. - Now press
to place it and 
to build it when the outline is blue. It will show you the radius in which it powers up vehicles and equipment.
That’s how you unlock the electricity Generator in Death Stranding. You can unlock higher level variants of it as you progress through the game and complete more orders.
