Dead Island 2 Resurrect the Rex Walkthrough

Resurrect the Rex is a Side Quest in Dead Island 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Resurrect the Rex side mission.

Requirement: Having Finished Main Quest #15: The Giant Slayer
Reward: 2,000 XP, Pole Saw x1
Mission Info: Rikky Rex, front man for old-school rock band Gods and Whiskey, feels depressed and irrelevant. He’s hoping to find inspiration from old G&W hits, deep cuts, and jam sessions. The band’s producer Farouk has copies of those master tapes, so it’s lucky he lives near Roxannes.

Objectives:

Look for the master tapes in Farouk the music producer’s house, downhill
Find a way inside Farouk’s (if you see Dave, tell him Rikky sent you)
Search Farouk the producer’s house for Gods and Whiskey master tapes [0/3]
Return the original Gods and Whiskey master tapes to Rikky

Starting Location: Resurrect the Rex

This quest starts in the Beverly Hills HQ by talking to Rikky, the guy sitting on the armchair.

Look for the master tapes in Farouk the music producer’s house, downhill

After speaking with Rikky, leave the house, follow the objective marker, climb over the back gate and head down the steps to the right. Clear the zombies at the bottom and climb onto the roof of the van and drop down into the garden below.

Find a way inside Farouk’s (if you see Dave, tell him Rikky sent you)

Once in the garden, clear out the zombies and a zombie named Dave will be there. He has a shocker ability that can electrify you, so be careful as you kill him. Once dead, collect Farouk’s house key from him. Now you can enter the house.

Search Farouk the producer’s house for Gods and Whiskey master tapes [0/3]

Now, inside you are tasked with finding 3 master tapes. These are 3 large colored film reels. The first one is on the floor as you enter the main room of the house.

Head upstairs and turn right, smash the crates hiding and generator and turn it off. This cuts the power to the exposed cable on the other side of the stairwell where the second master tape is. Head over to the other side and collect it.

Continue up the stairs where the top floor has large patio doors and a handful of zombies will be on the balcony outside trying to get in. The master tape is on a foot stool on the balcony outside, so you will need to smash through the window and kill all the zombies in this section.

Return the original Gods and Whiskey master tapes to Rikky

Now you have found all 3 master tapes, return to Rikky and hand them in. As you get back to the house Rikky is in, there will be zombies at the gates of the house which if you distract with bait, fire, and or explosives, you can run past them and climb over the gate without having to engage in combat.

Once back inside, speak with Rikky, wait for the dialogue to finish and the quest will complete and you will be rewarded with XP and a new weapon.
