The best weapon in Days Gone is the Chicago Chopper. It’s a type of submachine gun that holds 55 rounds in the clip and has a high rate of fire. It’s basically a Tommy Gun just with a different name.
Why is it the best weapon?: It kills enemies in a single bullet! With the “Up the Ante” Ranged Combat skill it can carry 330 ammo (275 ammo + 55 in the clip). That’s 330 Freakers killed. You can wipe out an entire horde with this gun easily, it kills 55 Freakers in just a few seconds. That makes it even more effective than explosives. When you upgrade your bike with Saddlebags you can refill ammo out in the wild. No Horde will stand a chance. Essentially you have the stopping power of a shotgun, the fire rate of a submachine gun and the ammo reserves of a heavy machine gun, the best of all worlds.
How to get the Chicago Chopper: It’s bought from the Merchant in the 5th camp called Wizard Island. This is the 5th region you visit. The story will bring you there but it’s fairly late in the game (about 40 hours in).

Best Melee Weapon: The best Melee Weapon is the Bat Axe. You get the crafting recipe by conquering Ambush Camps. It kills enemies in a single hit if you have the Melee Combat Skills “Hard Hitter” & “Home Run”. These skills massively increase Melee Damage. Add the Melee Skill “Field Repairs” and you can repair this weapon at any time for Scrap. However, it’s important to note that this weapon takes the most scrap to repair. The Spiked Bat has a better damage-cost-of-repair ratio. It kills Freakers with 1 hit at day and 2 hits at night (if you have Hard Hitter + Home Run skills). It only takes about half the Scrap to repair vs. the Bat Axe and it’s unlocked much earlier. For the early game the Spiked Bat is the best melee weapon. Always repair it with the Field Repairs skill before it breaks.
Best Early Game Weapons: In the early game the best option is the Spiked Bat Melee Weapon, the Crossbow, and a Silenced Pistol. You won’t have good enough firearms to take on huge hordes of Freakers, nor can you carry a lot of ammo with starting weapons. So it’s best to stay stealthy. The Crossbow is perfect because you just need to find a tree to loot Cedar Sapling and one piece of Scrap to craft 5 bolts. Trees are marked on the minimap with the “Hawkeyed” Survival Skill. With the Crossbow you never run out of ammo in the wild, there’s always a tree nearby. Plus it makes no noise (but be sure to do upper body shots or headshots for instant kills). A pistol (ideally with silencer) is great against human enemies to do headshots. The Spiked Bat is great against Freakers. At day they die more quickly than at night. In general, Melee is the way to go against Freakers, with firearms you run out of ammo too quickly in the early game. However, if you’d want to take on a Horde early on, use explosives (Grenades, Molotovs, Pipe Bombs) and a Shotgun to finish off the last Freakers in the Horde.

Sawblades can be found scattered across the world in Nero checkpoints, but especially in Ambush and Marauders’ Camps.

There’s actually a better melee weapon in the game than the bat axe, I do believe it is a non craftable but with Field Repair it would not matter. I forget what it’s called but it is next To a bench at the end of the mission where you go out with Kiouri, he shows you a picture of his wife etc etc and when the cutscene ends it’s there to pick up next to one of the benches.

You mean that bat with all the metal parts + the metal “wheel” at the end? Because I use this and the damage output is way higher than that of the bat axe.
And as for the topic: as for special weapon I use the BFG .50 sniper. It’s hands down amazing. A full clip + concentration (bullet time) on and I can wipe out an entire human camp within seconds – you don’t have to reload after each shot. The zoom of the scope is great too. I never leave my camp without the BFG ~
For the hand gun I use the Eliminator for normal enemies and a good SMP for killing hordes (if my main weapon is empty and I need to mow down some more freakers).

Yea I also found this weapon in this mission and it is super op one shot to any swarmers and just all out good damage and durability but I’ve only found this weapon 2 times and this mission is one of them

I believer you are talking about the Superior Metal Axe. I love that thing, it can pretty much one hit kill most things in the game. It has 100% damage and 100% durability, Every time I get down to the last 10% durability left, I fix it and get it back to 100%. Love that thing.

Best Melee Weapon is Superior Mace… I don’t think you can craft it but you can find it in the later part of the game. Its better than Spiked Bat but have the same number of scraps to fix

You also get the superior metal axe in the job to get the yeast, on the way i stopped an ambush and found a superior mace and gave up my beloved wooden axe that i have kept most of the game, regretted it almost instantly against the breakers then found rhe metal version. Cougars in one swipe love it
