The Highwayman is a Side Job in Cyberpunk 2077 (CP77). This walkthrough will guide you through all steps of The Highwayman Side Quest.
Area: Santo Domingo (Rancho Coronado)
Quest Giver: N/A
Requirement: Complete Main Job “The Ride”
Reward: Nazare “Itsumade” motorcycle
Mission Info: There’s a still of some young guy in the garage – the heartbreaker type. Emails on the computer are from a certain James – don’t have to be a genius to connect the dots. Might be worth looking for our Romeo – especially in Japantown. Got a feeling the still was snapped there. Wouldn’t surprise me – kids go on dates there all the time. Shit… it always starts off so cute, doesn’t it? Rarely ever ends that way.
Josie hid the Tyger boss’s bike somewhere in the city, near the All Foods factory in Maelstrom turf. Said to look for a “ghost horse”. All right then… Think of it like a scavenger hunt, though not the kind fixers in Night City usually pay for.
Josie… Pretty name. Cute girl. Ugly end. This Tyger from the still… better have a word with him, V. Can’t let slide what he did to this poor girl.
Another mystery, another missing person in Night City. Used to be the cops would put out a search for people like her. Today, her fate’s in your hands.
Objectives:
- Interact with the computer
- Find James
- Find out what happened to Josie
- Find James and confront him
- Find the stolen Tyger Claw bike
Starting Location: The Highwayman
Interact with the computer
This Side Job doesn’t actually appear marked on your map at all, you need to go find it. To start, go to the housing area directly below the dam in Rancho Coronado, then on the street looking towards the weapons shop there is the below building with a garage on the lower floor.
Inspect the bike on the right, then interact with the computer on the bench on the left to pick up a photo and officially start this side job.
Find James
Your first objective is to find a man named James, the guy in the photo V picked up. To locate him, you can travel to the JAPANTOWN WEST fast travel point, then travel south towards the large intersection, where you can find the area with the blue benches around the large tree on the east side of the road.
Sitting on one of the benches you can find James.
Interact with him to show him the photo, but he won’t really have much information for you about where Josie is.
Find out what happened to Josie
Next, you need to travel to the Glen. You can fast travel to the METRO: GLEN NORTH fast travel point, then go to the drop point directly east of it.
From the drop point look on the ground to find blood you can scan, which leads around the corner down the street.
Go into the alleyway to the left to find a body, which turns out to be Josie. Grab the shard off the ground.
Find James and confront him
You have James’ location marked on your map now, go back there and speak to him.
You can choose how you respond to him here. If you choose the second option he attacks you, and you have to shoot him. If not, he will sit and you can leave.
Find the stolen Tyger Claw bike
You will now need to find the location of the bike Josie had stolen. In Northside, go to the ALL FOODS PLANT fast travel point.
From the fast travel terminal facing the drop point, look to the right to the yard with the shipping containers stacked in it, go to that yard.
Here there is a garage door with a keypad beside it. To open it, you need to enter the code o214 (the date that was on the bench beside James). You enter it on the keypad by aiming the hand cursor and pressing / to select the numbers.
Once you enter the code the door opens, and you are rewarded with the Nazare “Itsumade” bike to keep. A nice reward that makes this quest well worth it.
This finishes The Highwayman side quest job in Cyberpunk 2077 (CP77).

This whole quest was one glitch after another for me. Finding the photo in the garage with the bike did NOT activate the quest; it only activated when I found the body in the alleyway. James’ location was not marked on my map, so I had to use this guide to find him. After I confronted him, he turned hostile, tried to hit me once, but then went and sat back down on the bench, doing absolutely nothing even when I attacked him.
Oh, and this was the first quest I did after the new patch 1.1. Great job CDPR!

Followed quest , even went back to a earlier save, being told (Authorzation not found) so no bike.

Same here
Michael says
You just have to step back away from the keypad just enough that your sight is on it but authorization not found disappears from the screen then you have to light up 0214 which will make it a bit harder to hit the numbers just kind of have to position your camera view just up and to the left from the number you are trying to hit that is how I got it

How was anyone ever supposed to do this quest without a guide? Talk to every NPC in the city? Finding James was hard enough, but there’s just no clue at all to go to the Glen after. You can’t even bring up the photo again to check who you’re supposed to look for.

Just finished this quest today and I agree it could not have been done without a guide. This should be reworked.

I found a shard in Judy’s apartment where Josie drafted a message to James the location of where she would be and the location of the bike.
If only I found this shard before completing the quest
