In Cyberpunk 2077, some players are experiencing a bug where the door to Ripperdoc Viktor Vektor stays closed. This is a known issue after the Phantom Liberty 2.0 Update. Especially during some missions that involve this location, such as Main Job “Things Done Changed” this can be a major game-breaking bug that leaves you unable to progress.
Bug Fix
Luckily, there is an easy solution: All you need to do is reply to the SMS text message from “Viktor Vektor” regarding “New cyberware software updates”. This is mandatory to open the door to Viktor’s Ripperdoc clinic. Click on his message and reply with “Good stuff, I’ll check it out asap” > “Can I get this soft at your clinic?”. After this the door will immediately open.
The reason this “bug” happens is that it’s actually an odd intentional game feature. After the 2.0 Update & Phantom Liberty DLC release, new Cyberware was added to this Ripperdoc. So the door was intentionally locked until you reply to this particular SMS. It’s just one of those weird design choices that’s causing players confusion.
The main point where this is a real progression breaking issue is in the Phantom Liberty Main Job “Things Done Changed” because there you are unable to use the phone. If this happens to you, the only fix is to load an old autosave before starting this questline, replying to Viktor’s SMS, manually check that the door is indeed unlocked, then replay the quest from the start.
