I Walk The Line is the 18th main story mission in Cyberpunk 2077 (CP77). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives, paths, dialogues, choices and endings of the I Walk The Line Main Job.
Area: Pacifica
Quest Giver: Placide
Requirement: Completed M’ap Tann Pelen
Mission Info: I’m sick of this Placide motherfucker as much as you, but at least the fog has lifted, the goal is clear. You find a netrunner in the GIM and the Vodoo goons will set up a meet-n-greet with their queen. Pros? Maybe I’ll actually get to see a legit netrunner, ’cause it’s sure starting to feel like an extinct species these days. Someone who’s got the guts to square off against the Voodoos has given me some hope, at least. But the cons? Damn near any minute your brain could start dripping out your ears. Afraid we won’t have time to make pilgrimages to the monuments of Pacifica’s Golden Age.

Starting Location: I Walk The Line
I Walk the Line starts automatically when you finish the previous mission, M’Ap Tann Pèlen.
Leave Batty’s Hotel
As soon as you’re done talking with Placide at the start of the mission, follow the waypoint to the Grand Imperial Mall (or GIM as they call it in-game). Don’t dawdle either, or Placide is likely to scold you for wasting his time.
Meet with Placide’s people
Across from the GIM you’ll meet with two of Placide’s Voodoo Boys who have been keeping an eye on the Animals’ comings and goings.
Talk to Placide’s People
The Voodoo Boys say that you should enter through the Garage in the back of the mall, and reiterate Placide’s demand that you infiltrate the GIM in total stealth. While this isn’t strictly necessary to complete the mission successfully, the ‘runner inside will start closing barricades to block your path and a literal ton of Animals will rain down hell upon you. The gangers are usually huge, heavily modified with cyberware, and plentiful. Coupled with having the most direct routes through the mall closed to you, this can be devastating, particularly if you haven’t been following a combat focused build. With the sheer number of enemies, and scarcity of places to dump bodies, any body you leave behind (whether dead or incapacitated) is a liability. Last but not least, you’ll have to listen to Placide bitch in your ear for the rest of the mission, so it’s very much not worth it.
Enter the mall
Once you reach the loading docks of the GIM, jump over the concrete barricade and down to the ground to the left of the ramp. Crouch and move ahead, hugging the wall. You shouldn’t have to hack any devices to distract enemies if you stay behind cover and move slowly.
When you reach another ramp leading up into the dock, stay low and wait for the two Animals on bikes to leave before proceeding.
When the coast is clear, you’ll see three more Animals talking in a group. Hug the right wall, and stay low, moving around a shipping crate and into the dock.
Carefully move through the loading area, towards the stack of boxes next to a platform with safety stripes. This is your way up, but there is another ganger just on the other side of the wall so stay quiet.
If you have a Technical Ability or Body stat of 10, you can access a staircase that will take you to the upper level where there are far fewer enemies to avoid. Otherwise, you’re stuck going the long way around.
Wait for the nearby enemy to move off before advancing, then blind the camera and move down the hallway in the same direction as the enemy went. Stay low and head left hugging the wall to avoid attracting the attention of the fighter in the ring who may look in your direction occasionally.
Along the edge of this area, you’ll see another enemy watching the boxing match. Wait for him to move before trying to go past him. He will walk to the end of this area then start using the bench press. Before he reaches it, use a quickhack on one of the vending machines at the back of the area to distract him then slip past while he is examining the machine.
Head towards the exit while staying low and using the machines and crates as cover. After leaving the gym area, immediately turn to the left and hug the wall to avoid an enemy standing nearby. Once you reach the left side of the mall, you can head straight down to the other end to find the van, or you can actually skip the next five objectives including a boss fight with Sasquatch!
To take the alternate route, when you’re about halfway to the van you’ll pass by the Kabayan foods restaurant on your left. There are two entrances, and you’ll want to use the furthest entrance to avoid being seen by the gang member inside who is standing guard. Distract him using the nearby vending machines then turn left and head up the escalator to the second level.
Be careful when you reach the top, there will be two gang members standing around near the top of the stairs. If you head straight ahead and hide behind a nearby crate you can avoid being seen by them.
Distract one using a television on the wall behind them, move forward and around the edge of the room, then distract the other using the generator behind him. This will get both enemies looking away from the window for the duration of the hack, and give you more time to sneak through the exit and down the hallway on the other side.
You’ll find yourself on the other side of the Cinema lobby that Sasquatch is waiting in, conveniently looking away from you. Sneak up to the corner, then turn left towards the cinema entrance. Stay low near the wall and move quietly, and you should be able to sneak past Sasquatch entirely and go straight to the “Find the agent in the cinema” objective heading below.
Find the van in the lobby
Or you could do things the hard way and follow the waypoints. Instead of passing through Kabayan foods, head towards the three enemies by the fan. Hide on the other side of the low wall until two of the three agents move past you. Then move up along the left wall, and enter the Softsys store on the left.
Going through this store lets you sneak up on the agent and stealthily incapacitate or kill him. This is the one enemy that you can safely take out because there is conveniently a freezer in the back room of the Softsys store, allowing for easy disposal.
Reach the van
Head around to the other side of the van to gain access to its equipment.
Connect to the van
Jack in!
Talk to Placide
Placide will start going through the data through your connection, then because everything was going so well until now, Placide warns you that you’ve been detected and the ‘runner is blocking some of the more convenient routes to reach the cinema. Like the one directly behind you that just closed. Oh well. Head over to the nearby elevator shaft and climb up the conveniently stacked packages to reach some girders you can use to reach the second floor.
Enemies will be actively searching for you at this point, so be on the lookout anyone patrolling in your direction, taking them out only if absolutely necessary.
Head across the nearby platform to the other side of the mall, either avoiding or eliminating the patrolling guard on the other side.
Continue down to the end of this hall to arrive at the large room Sasquatch is waiting in, only this time there’s very few places to hide. You can raise some of the ad screens that are recessed into the floor to give you some cover, but often Sasquatch will detect you regardless. You can try to get past her, but you’re almost forced to fight her by taking this route.
Deal with Sasquatch (Optional)
If you do manage to sneak up behind her, you will get a prompt to perform a Takedown. This will have you rip out the tubes from her Juicer, instantly dropping her to 75% life and removing her resistances and immunities. You might have heard the three agents near the van talking about this while you were downstairs, commenting that it was her major weakness. Oops.
If you manage this, the rest of the fight is relatively easy. Continue to pour live rounds into her as quickly as possible, dodging sideways whenever she winds up for an attack or gets too close. You can supplement this with any quickhacks you might have like Short Circuit, which can be very effective once her Juicer is disabled.
Find the agent in the cinema
Once Sasquatch is neutralized or avoided, head into the cinema and head for the lit up door directly across the theater from you.
Confront the agent
Once you find the Netwatch agent in the projection booth, he will reveal to you that Placide infected you with some malware which they will use to kill you once you’ve completed your mission. He will offer you a new deal, where you let him leave with the data, and he cleans up your malware and releases the Voodoo Boys runner and Maman Brigitte who they’d “captured” during their last run. If you take the deal, the agent will let the Animals in the mall know that you’re a friendly and you’ll be allowed to walk out of the mall without being attacked.
If you choose to incapacitate the agent the malware you’ve been infected with flatlines you, the agent, and all the Animals in the area. In this version you still are able to walk out of the mall safely, but this time its because all the Animals’ brains are leaking out their ears and eyes.
The results of this choice will affect the end of the next mission Transmission:
- If you sell out to NetWatch Agent, then Maman Brigitte and all of the Voodoo Boys’ ‘runners will die at the end of Transmission, and the rest of the gang will be hostile towards you from then on. You’ll have to fight your way back to the entrance to the chapel to survive.
- If you refuse the Netwatch agent’s deal and carried out Placide’s instructions, then at the end of Transmission you can leave the Voodoo Boys’ hideout without shedding blood (unless you really want to. Placide can be a fun boss fight here.)
Leave the Grand Imperial Mall
Follow the waypoint to the front entrance of the GIM, where Placide’s scouts are waiting for you, bored if you made a deal with Netwatch, or downright shocked if you’ve just cheated death again.
Head to Batty’s Hotel
They offer you a ride, which you might as well take as they aren’t hostile and the ride takes you straight to Placide’s office.
Meet with Placide in Batty’s Hotel
Head into the next room and see Placide standing near a groggy netrunner.
Talk to Placide
No matter what choice you made at the GIM, you have the opportunity now to punch Placide to advance the plot. Choosing one of the other yellow options would also advance the plot, but if you have the chance to punch Placide I don’t know why you wouldn’t.
Talk to Brigitte
Before Placide flies off the handle, Brigitte interrupts the conversation and you can finally have the meeting you were asking for all along. Talk with Brigitte to end the mission. Note that if you don’t agree to let her access the chip during this conversation, you won’t automatically begin the next mission Transmission right away. In case you accidentally decline, or legitimately have other things to do, you can later contact her via phone to agree and she will meet you at the church to continue. If you agree to let her access the chip right away, you will be warped to the chapel and Transmission immediately.
This finishes I Walk The Line main quest in Cyberpunk 2077 (CP77). Now the next quest Transmission becomes available.

Cannot call car after this quest, anyone know the issue with that?
PowerPyx says
I had the same while doing Pacifica quests! I think this might be “normal” at this point in the game? Other people I talked to had the same issue. You eventually get your car back later in the story. At some point after I was done with the Main Jobs in Pacifica I could call the car again. The game just doesn’t tell you that your car is unavailable (or maybe it’s a temporary bug). But don’t worry, it will fix itself after a while.

How do I get into the cinema?? All the industrial shudders are down and cannot be opened. There is no way to progress because all shudders are down. What is the way to get into the cinema??
PowerPyx says
I just followed the waypoints (yellow path on minimap top right corner) past the Sasquatch boss, then opened the door to the cinema (was open for me). Are you getting the waypoints / yellow line on minimap at all? (if you have minimap turned off in options you should enable it). Not sure if this is a bug or what.

I can’t get out of the mall at all! All the shutters are down and i can’t open them! And i’m following the waypoints on the mini map!
Monte says
I have the same problem, all the gates are closed and I can’t get to the sasquatsch or the cinema. The waypoints keeps leading me to locked gates that I can’t open.

Usually I never comment on blogs but your article is so convincing that I never stop myself to say something about it. Really helpful.

Informative post! This is a great share thank you

I beat sasquatch before even jacking in to the van and now I keep getting flatlined when I restore from checkpoint. I really don’t know what to do.
