Freedom Of The Press is a Gig in Cyberpunk 2077 (CP77). This walkthrough will guide you through all steps of the Freedom Of The Press Gig (Side Quest).

Objective: Rescue Max and bring him to me

Location: The old broadcast TV in Northside

Night City doesn’t like people that like to kick the hornet’s nest, and Max Jones… well, he kicked a bunch of ’em at the same time. Kicked them so hard, in, fact, that someone put a hit out on him. Thing is, personally, I’d rather he stayed alive.

Max Jones is an old friend from my muckraking days. We co-wrote a podcast about independent farmers who were put out of bix by Biotechnica drones. Those were the days.

Nowadays, Max doesn’t even take my calls. He’s as stubborn as they come, but now I’m worried he’s really lost touch with reality. He probably thinks he can manage perfectly fine on his own, but that’s what all young, gonk men think – that they’re invincible. Bring him to reason, will ya?

Sending you the coords to his hideout. If I managed to track him down, it’s only a matter of time until the others do too.

Starting Location: Freedom Of The Press

Gig: Freedom of the Press starts at Watson (Northside).

Enter The TV Studio Building

From the location above, you can either enter through the front door if you have 8 points put into your Technical Ability, or you can climb onto the dumpster to the left and onto the roof, dropping into the building from above.

Find Max

Once inside, you need to pass through the shooting range, which is littered with traps. In the first corridor, you can find a mine to disable or destroy on the wall to your left.

In the next hallway, there is another mine and a turret. Wait for the turret to be looking away and either disable it or look to your right for a path with mannequins and climb up the ladder. Even if you do disable it, take this ladder to skip a fair few of the traps.

Jump down the other side and disable the turret in the next room. Jump over the mines in here as well, heading to the staircase at the back. Open the door and immediately stand still or else Max will commit suicide.

Convince Max To Meet With Regina

Once you meet Max stand still and answer his first question quickly with the following dialogue option:

Dialogue:

• Nope I’m Not.

For the rest of the conversation reason with him and convince him to meet Regina:

Dialogue:

• She just wants to help.
• Regina was your mentor?
• You dying wouldn’t change a thing.
• She deserves a chance. Just talk to her.

Escort Max Outside

Use the door at the back of the office with Max in and it will lead straight outside. Head down the stairs and take Max to the car.

Leave The Area

Leave the surrounding area to get a call from Regina.

Collect Your Reward

Follow the waypoint to the drop point machine to collect your reward.
