Introduction
Welcome to the Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Trophy Guide! Crash Bandicoot 4 features 43 levels (5 of which are boss levels and 38 are Normal Levels). The 38 Normal Levels each have a Platinum Time Trial Relic (=Speedrun) and N.Sanely Perfect Relic (=Get All Clear Gems, except Hidden Gem without dying). There are also 21 Flashback Levels, which you unlock by collecting the Flashback Tapes in Normal Levels without dying. Additionally, the 43 main levels must all be replayed in N.Verted Mode (this mirrors everything horizontally left/right and changes the graphics colors). Some levels must be replayed in different timelines with other characters. There’s a lot to do and you’ll have to absolutely perfect every level, earn every Relic and get 106% game completion for doing everything possible in the game. It’s a highly skill dependent platinum.
Step 1: Finish Story, Get Colored Gems & Miscellaneous Trophies
For the first step don’t worry about the Relics yet. Just get to know all of the levels and become familiar with the controls and enemies. Play through the story to unlock Triple Spin at the end. This move makes you go faster which helps you beat the Speedrun times for the Platinum Time Trial Relics. Along the way, pick up the 4 Colored Gems (Red, Green, Yellow, Blue) and the level specific miscellaneous trophies. You need the Colored Gems to open up some unique level paths. Everything can be replayed after the story, nothing is missable. Below is a list of all Miscellaneous Trophies and Gems in Chronological Order which you can follow as you go through the game.
- Channel Surfer – Map: N.Sanity Island / Level: Rude Awakening
- Red Gem – Map: N.Sanity Island / Level: N.Sanity Peak
- Megaphoning It In – Map: The Hazardous Wastes / Level: A Real Grind
- Junkyard Jams – Map: The Hazardous Wastes / Level: Hit The Road
- Green Gem – Map: The Hazardous Wastes / Level: Hit The Road
- Give ‘Em a Broadside! – Map: Salty Wharf / Level: Thar He Blows!
- Silence the Scientist – Map: Tranquility Falls / Level: Give it a Spin
- Hammer it Home – Map: Tranquility Falls / Level: Draggin’ On
- Blue Gem – Map: Tranquility Falls / Level: Draggin’ On
- Tree Droppings – Map: Tranquility Falls / Level: Off-Balance
- Here Kitty Kitty – Map: Mosquito Marsh / Level: Off Beat
- Bad Signs – Map: Mosquito Marsh / Level: Home Cookin’
- Yellow Gem – Map: Mosquito Marsh / Level: Run It Bayou
- WOAH YEAH! – Map: Bermugula’s Orbit / Level: A Hole in Space
Step 2: Play through all N.Verted Levels & Timelines
Beating a level unlocks it for replay in N.Verted Mode (becomes available after Level “Trouble Brewing” in the 4th Map Area). N.Verted Mode mirrors everything horizontally (left/right) and changes the graphics to a render-mode with different colors. After the story replay all levels in this mode. When you select a level it will let you pick between “Normal” & “N.Verted” mode. Along the way you can already grab the Hidden N.Verted Gems if you like. Beating all levels in N.Verted unlocks Backwards & Forwards. Also finish the different Timelines. Those are the optional levels that have 2 character icons in the level stats (there are 9 of those total). Those unlock the trophy The Whole Picture.

Step 3: Platinum Flashback Relics
Grab all 21 Flashback Tapes. Each of them unlocks a Flashback Level. You have to reach the Flashback Tapes in the Normal Levels WITHOUT DYING. However, you are allowed to die after picking up the Tape. Just reaching it without dying is required. Be sure to finish the level afterward. If you died before the tape it will become transparent and cannot be picked up.
You can keep track of your progress in the Pause Menu > Level Stats. It shows which levels have Flashback Tapes.
After you got all Tapes, play through all 21 Flashback Levels. For their Platinum Flashback Relics you must simply destroy all Crates in one run (there are checkpoints in between to make this easier).

» Crash Bandicoot 4 – Platinum Flashback Relics Guide
Step 4: N.Sanely Perfect Relics
38 of 43 Levels in the game have an N.Sanely Perfect Relic (all except the 5 boss levels). They are for getting all Clear Gems (except Hidden Gem) in a Level without dying a single time.
The 5 Clear Gems needed per level are:
- Find 40% of all Fruits
- Find 60% of all Fruits
- Find 80% of all Fruits
- Destroy ALL Crates
- Die less than 3 times
You must get them all in one go, but without dying a single time to get the N.Sanely perfect Relic. Finding the Hidden Gem isn’t required in this run, you are allowed to get this in a separate run. These are also needed for 106% completion. The good news is that you don’t need to collect every single piece of fruit, only 80%. Since you need to destroy ALL crates you should get 80% of fruit automatically. This allows you to skip some of the flying fruits. You are also allowed to die inside the Bonus Levels, but only the ones with a “?” platform (they are the platforms that fly you to a side path). The Bonus Level deaths don’t count towards the overall Deaths in a level which makes it a bit easier.
» Crash Bandicoot 4 – N.Sanely Perfect Relics Guide
Step 5: Platinum Time Trial Relics
38 of 43 Levels in the game have a Platinum Time Trial Relic (all except the 5 boss levels).
When replaying a level, you’ll see a golden stopwatch at the start of it. Collect this to trigger the Time Trial. It will spawn some crates with numbers on them, destroying them will freeze the timer. You will also need the Triple Spin to go faster, unlocked by finishing the story. Platinum is the most difficult time requirement to beat in time trials. You have to run through every level perfectly without dying. If you die you lose too much time and it becomes basically impossible to finish with a platinum time. This and the N.Sanely Perfect Relics are the most difficult tasks in the game.

(Optional) Step 6: Remaining N.Verted Gems
If you didn’t already go for all N.Verted Gems in Step 3, go get your missing ones now for trophy gnilB fo gniK.
» Crash Bandicoot 4 – All Hidden Gem Locations
Step 7: 106% Completion Ending
After having gotten all Gems and Relics (Flashback Platinum Relics, N.Sanely Perfect Relics, Platinum Time Trial Relics) you will unlock the 106% ending and that should be the last thing you need for platinum. Congrats!

The guides for all Relics will be added/linked shortly. There will be a video for each Relic in every level. Otherwise it’s all done.
Edit: all done now.
Michal says
Oh god I didn’t even finished Crash team racing with platinum cause of oxide time trials and now I see they put the extremely platinum relics? Vicarious Visions why???
Peanutpurple says
There is no need to beat the dev time for the 106% trophy. Plat time is enough. You can verify the info on Rexaaayyy stream on twitch. He got the 106% trophy.
PowerPyx says
Relieved to hear that! Thanks for the info =)
Veloxplayer098 says
For 106% you have to beat all bosses in N.verted mode too
David slade says
Oh Christ and there was me thinking it would be similar to Crash 3!
Eric says
Awesome! A challenging platinum that will keep me busy until the PS5 comes out.
ZexionPonty92 says
I got 5 gems in the first level (missed the hidden one), didn’t die but I got the N.Sanely perfect relic… maybe the relic doesn’t require all gems in the level?
PowerPyx says
You’re right… apparently the hidden gem is not needed to get the N.Sanely Perfect Relic. Only the other 5 Gems must be obtained in one go 🙂
Thanks for reporting! I updated this.
Sepheroithisgod says
How much harder are the Platinum relics than the Gold relics in past Crash games?
PowerPyx says
A lot harder. It’s the difference between “decent” and “perfect”.
E.g. if a Plat relic in a level is 8/10 difficulty, the gold would be closer to 5/10 difficulty.
KZ says
I didn’t read the trophies so I don’t spoil the bosses but I only have one question. What is the requirement for the relics is it platinum or gold/platinum like the NST or sapphire is enough?
PowerPyx says
Platinum Relics are required from all Time Trials.
KZ says
and to get platinum relics do we need to finish the game to get the shoes like Crash 2&3 or there is no shoes in this game?
d3mystic says
The difficulty. Is it 8-9/10 for Crash veterans or for someone like me who has never played crash but really wants to play this one?
PowerPyx says
That guess is meant for the average player, regardless of previous experience with Crash Bandicoot games.
Based on the Cortex Castle level it seems harder than Crash 2 and Crash 3 and more complex than Crash 1.
There are some levels that are quite easy to get all Relics on, and some that are quite infuriating. Based on the last levels (Cortex Castle being one of the hardest), around 8/10 is my best guess so far. At this point, nobody is even close to platinum, nobody has gotten the Relics on the harder late-game levels yet. It will depend on some of the harder levels’ time trials and what difficulty ratings the platinum achievers will give it to form an average. Compared to previous Crash Bandicoot games this one is more complex due to having more gameplay mechanics & abilities that must be combined all at once, some upside-down sections, more button-pressing.
However, the controls are smoother (and no pill-shape edges that make you slide off, something players of the Crash 1-3 Remasters will be familiar with).
Fernando says
Thank you for the amazing work!
But, all the platinum time trials will be really tough and I think that’s whay beyond my skills…..
Matthew says
Comparing this to the Oxide time trials in CTR would you say difficulty is more or about the same as in it doesnt have to be a perfect run?
Ste says
Oxide times are a jokes in compare to these
Sae says
Hi, I just wanted to point out that someone on PSN has achieved the 106% ending without achieving even the Platinum time trial relics. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the purple developer times are higher than the Platinum ones right? I noticed this when I looked at the game on PSNP, and saw that the trophy for 106% is 0.1%. What’s weird is that he doesn’t have the one for 100%.
It is possible that it is hacked, but I don’t see why anyone would hack one trophy and not the platinum if they’re going to.
PowerPyx says
It’s hacked. You’d get the 100% before the 106%.
Edit: as someone reported below, there’s apparently a “glitch” that lets you cheat it with a keyboard lol. So just an exploit.
Seesaw says
Not a hack. Just found out about this today.
If you plug a keyboard into the PS4 and hit “F” repeatedly, more and more of the map unlocks, until eventually the 100% and then 106% endings unlock.
The trick doesn’t give relics – but it will make the 100% and 106% trophies pop.
Veloxplayer098 says
The trophy is about watching the ending so he could’ve watch the 106% ending before the 100% one.
David says
Doubt i will be trying to get this platinum trophy i had hard enough time getting all gold relics in the remaster trilogy
Ste says
I got the platinum trophy in the previews 3 games but this is insanely hard, achivements are ridicolus.
Dolan says
I doubt the dev times are required for the 106% I imagine they’re more just an extra challenge for the insane completionists. I hope so anyway, The platinum trophy seems doable even at 9/10 difficulty, but if dev times are required I’ll throw in the towel
Lordkarma says
Purple developer times? Are you telling me there are time relics beyond platinum?! Please tell me that’s a typo.
PowerPyx says
Yes there’s a tier above platinum relics. The purple on the 1st level requires you to be 15 seconds faster than the platinum relic.
Lordkarma says
15 seconds faster than whatever time you got or the set platinum time? As much as I am dreading it, the completionist in me won’t let me not got these.?
Luay says
Hey pyx,
Do you need to get N.sanely perfect relics and platinum time trail relics for the N.vetted levels also?
PowerPyx says
Still pending confirmation as nobody has gotten either trophy yet.
However, the trophy icon shows the number 38 on N.Sanely Relics and the in-game tracker shows 0/38. Therefore, it would seem only the 38 normal relics are needed, not N.verted.
Luay says
Yeah, I noticed that too. Hopefully, that is the case
Ze says
Im 99% you dont need since if you do the Insane Relic on Nverted in a level were you didnt had one, it will unlock the icon of completion in the normal level.
Luay says
Also, you can’t do time trials in N.verted levels, there isn’t the watch thing. But you can get N.sanely perfect relics, however they don’t not appear next to your “level stats” like the N.sanely perfect relics you get from normal levels. So I assuming you don’t need them.
Chris says
Nah not true, you can get the N.Sanely Relics in Inverted Mode, too and it will count as if you got it in the normal level, so you can choose where to do it.
I definitely got the relic 2 times where I only cleared the leven in N.Verted mode.
Pujitsu says
Weirdest thing about the 100% and 106% I’ve seen today is that some people have actually gotten the respective endings. Their is videos all over Youtube of the endings, yet nobody has the trophies for them.
Darth_Krid says
There’s a glitch where you can plug in a USB keyboard and keep pressing F and it unlocks every level, including the endings and the trophies. Bit pointless though as you still need to collect the actual relics for those trophies.
Khalid says
OMG . Why Platinum Time Trial Relics is needed !!!!!!!!!!!! this is insane
Damian says
It’s a 10/10 even with the Platinum relics to be honest. I did the last 3 and got the plats and even stormy ascent, road to nowhere etc was no where near as hard as Cortex Castle. I can’t imagine finishing it in 1 life going slowly at the moment let alone beating a relic time on that level. Prob will settle for around 70% on it which I pretty much have.
Khalid says
update
I got 13 platinum time trial relics until now I will keep going until Get the Faster Than Sound trophy
Liverinho says
At no point in my life i will do that plat. No way. Its insane.
Did the first three games… Oxide times in CTR..everything on plat… But this is crazy. Cortex castle is one of the hardest Level and thinking of doing it without dying and in a perfect run, will get me nightmares.
Eric says
My first run on Cortex castle I had 76 deaths. My second run I had 32. I cut it in half just by doing it twice. Keep at it and no death run will be tied to your muscle memory. I think Oxide in CTR was harder on certain levels.

You don’t need all 228 normal gems and 228 inverted gems for the 100%.
Even if you don’t have all gems, but you have some platinum relics, it will continue to count towards the 100%. So you can still get 100% before you collect all gems.

Do we need all the Inverted gems for the Platinum trophy, or just the hidden ones?
PowerPyx says
Inverted Gems are needed too.
Veloxplayer098 says
For 106% you have to defeat all bosses in N.verted too

50 hours+? Should be 100+ imo. No way did anyone get this platinum in 50 hours. Did you actually get the platinum Powerpyx?
PowerPyx says
2 of our co-writers of this guide got it in 50ish hours yeah. Doable, but keep in mind that’s the expected minimum. With a game this skill-dependent there’s always a big variance between players.

After a 2 and a half year break I finally finished the game then achieved 106% & platinum.
