On The Final Reich Zombies map of Call of Duty WW2 you can build 4 Tesla Gun Upgrades / Variants (Bloodthirst, Hurricane, Midnight, Reaper). These are needed to complete the “hard” easter egg. Building all 4 Tesla Variants also unlocks the “Dark Arts” trophy or achievement. Out of all 4, the Reaper is the hardest upgrade to get. The Midnight is the easiest. You must build all 4 Upgrade Variants in one match for the hard easter egg & Dark Arts trophy. Everyone in the match will unlock the trophy regardless of who builds the upgrades.
Preparation Steps (Build Normal Tesla Gun, Complete Lightning Rod Defense)
In preparation for these upgrades, the first thing you need to do is complete the main easter egg up until the Lightning Rod Defense. This is needed for the last step of each Tesla Upgrade. As you do this you will automatically unlock the normal Tesla Gun along the way, it is part of the main easter egg. You can press the Touchpad at any time to see the waypoints and objectives, luckily the normal Tesla Gun is a main objective.
Check out the guide for the main easter egg and play until you’re done with the Lightning Rod Defense: COD WW2 Zombies: The Final Reich Easter Egg Guide.
It is highly recommended that you do a playthrough of the “casual” easter egg first for the Fireworks trophy / achievement. Upgrading the Tesla Guns is probably the hardest thing to do in the Final Reich and should be reserved for your hard easter egg run.
Bloodthirst Tesla Upgrade (Bloodraven)
Step 1 (Shoot Sparking Lamp): At the Riverside area there is a flickering street lamp (near the starting area by the lake). You must shoot the flickering street lamp with the normal Tesla Gun.
Step 2 (Follow the Spark): Now shoot it with any other gun that uses bullets. This will cause the spark in the street lamp to move on to the next street lamp. You must follow and shoot the spark. It will always be at lamps. It goes around the street lamps at Riverside, then to the starting area, to the bunker, to the morgue. The spark stops in the morgue. The problem is that not all lamps along the way have a spark and you have limited time to find and shoot the spark. It can also jump to lamps that are off, in which case it just looks like a green light. It’s highly recommended you check out the video above for the path and memorize it. Now the good news is that you can try this as often as you want each round and the order/locations of the spark will always be the same as in the video above. The bad news is that you must shoot the starting lamp each time with the normal Tesla Gun and ammo is very limited. So if you mess up too often you’ll have to wait for a max ammo to drop. Look at the video and do a practice run before shooting the lamp.
Step 3 (Get Battery): When done correctly the Bloodraven Battery will fall from the ceiling in the morgue. Pick it up and insert it in the container in the morgue, near where it fell off.
Step 4 (Kill Pest Zombies using Morgue Trap): To power up the battery you must kill big groups of Pest Zombies using the Morgue Trap (the one that causes spikes to come from the ground). Pest Waves happen every 5 rounds (round 10-15-20-25 and so on). Train all zombies of a pest wave, run with them in a circle through the morgue, and then activate the trap. Just run into the trap, it does very little damage to you and will instantly kill all Pest Zombies. You must kill 2 big groups of Pest Zombies using the trap to power up the battery!
Step 5 (Lightning Rod Easter Egg Step): If you haven’t already, complete the main easter egg up until the Lightning Rod Defense. Only after defending the Lightning Rods you can continue with the Tesla Upgrade.
Step 6 (Defend Battery): Once the battery is powered up, pick it up and bring it upstairs (you’ll know it’s powered up because you can interact with it and pick it up). Insert it in the machine in the morgue that previously gave you a part for the normal tesla gun. Hold the interact-button to close the hatch. Now you must defend the battery for about a minute or so. Zombies will attack you and also attack the battery itself. There’s a health-bar on the battery, the zombies aren’t allowed to destroy it.
Bloodthirst Upgrade Complete: After successfully defending the battery, pick up the part from the machine. Now you can return to the Tesla Upgrade Station in the Command Center (Bunker) to build the upgraded Bloodthirst Tesla Gun.
Hurricane Tesla Upgrade (Stormraven)
Step 1 (Let Bomber blow up the Laboratory Locker): In the laboratory area (left side of bunker), there’s a locker at the wall on the stairs. Those are the stairs next to the Schildblitz perk. It looks like a metal door in the wall. You must lure a bomber to it and let the bomber blow up right in front of the locker. This reveals a battery you can pick up.
Step 2 (Get Battery): Pick up the battery from the locker and place it inside the laboratory trap (middle of the trap).
Step 3 (Simultaneously kill 2 x 2 Wüstlinge with Laboratory Trap): Simultaneously kill 2 Wüstlinge with the Laboratory Trap when the Battery is lighting up green. You must lure 2 in the trap at the same time. You must do this a total of 2 times. So that’s 2 x 2 Wüstlinge = 4 total. Wüstlinge are the big, slow brutes that charge at you when shooting them. It only counts when the trap kills 2 Wüstlinge at the same time, killing just one of them does nothing.
Step 4 (Lightning Rod Easter Egg Step): If you haven’t already, complete the main easter egg up until the Lightning Rod Defense. Only after defending the Lightning Rods you can continue with the Tesla Upgrade.
Step 5 (Defend Battery): Once the battery is powered up, pick it up (you’ll know it’s powered up because you can interact with it and pick it up). Insert it in the machine in the laboratory that previously gave you a part for the normal tesla gun. Hold the interact-button to close the hatch. Now you must defend the battery for about a minute or so. Zombies will attack you and also attack the battery itself. There’s a health-bar on the battery, the zombies aren’t allowed to destroy it.
Hurricane Upgrade Complete: After successfully defending the battery, pick up the part from the machine. Now you can return to the Tesla Upgrade Station in the Command Center (Bunker) to build the upgraded Hurricane Tesla Gun.
Midnight Tesla Upgrade (Moonraven)
Step 1 (Use Brenner Head on Statue in Courtyard): Kill a Brenner (flamethrower guy) and pick up his head. Now aim the head at the statue in the courtyard (left of the Lee Enfield sniper rifle wall-buy). You must press L2/LB to aim the brenner head. It will destroy the statue and reveal a battery.
Step 2 (Get Battery): Shoot the battery with the normal Tesla Gun. Now you can pick it up and insert it in the courtyard right in front of the Lee Enfield wall-buy.
Step 3 (Kill 2 Big Groups of Normal Zombies with S-Mine Trap in Courtyard): Kill 2 big groups of normal zombies with the S-Mine Trap in the courtyard. You can train zombies by running in circles around the courtyard. Try to kill 15+ per trap use. If you don’t kill enough you may need to do this a third time. This charges up the battery.
Midnight Upgrade Complete: After successfully defending the battery, pick up the part from the machine. Now you can return to the Tesla Upgrade Station in the Command Center (Bunker) to build the upgraded Midnight Tesla Gun.
Reaper Tesla Upgrade (Deathraven)
Step 1 (Let Wüstling Charge at the Locker in Sewers): Go to the sewers, the underground area with the bloody water, where you also find the Pack-a-Punch Machine. There is a locker on the wall on the opposite side of the MP-40 wall-buy. It looks like a small metal door. The video above shows the exact spot. Now you need a Wüstling (big slow brute) to charge into the locker. This is best accomplished by standing in front of the locker, shoot the Wüstling so it charges at you, and just “take the damage”. It won’t kill you if you have a full health bar. This is the only way to ensure the Wüstling will hit the locker properly. When he hits it properly the locker will open up and reveal a battery that you can pick up.
Step 2 (Get Battery): Plant the battery in the contraption just in front of the locker (2 meters away).
Optional Step 3 (Make Bombers non-explosive): For the next step you will need 2 bombers alive. The problem is that they blow up when you get too close to them. One way to prevent this is to shoot the small head on the back of the bombers, the small guy holding the bomb. When you do this the bomber drops the explosive canister and can no longer explode, but he’s still alive running around the map. It is highly recommended that you do this. It’s easy to do when using the Camouflage ability. Tell all players (if you’re playing co-op) to leave the bombers alive, use camouflage and shoot the small heads on the back of the bombers.
Step 4 (Simultaneously kill 2 x 2 Bombers using Saw Trap in Sewers): You must kill 2 bombers simultaneously using the Saw Trap in the Sewers, when the bombers are standing really close to the battery. The battery must light up green for it to count the kills. This is the trickiest step of all the tesla upgrade variants. As mentioned in the previous step, it’s highly recommended that you shoot the small faces on the back of the bombers so they drop their explosives and can no longer blow up. The problem here is, that there’s a relatively big distance between the battery and the trap activation. There are actually two trap activation points. You’ll want to use the one closest to the battery, near the locker (not the one by the MP-40 wallbuy). With 2 players you can have one person train the bombers and another activating the trap when the battery lights up green. This step needs to be done twice. So that’s 2 x 2 bombers = 4 total. If the bombers don’t die close enough to the battery you’ll have to repeat it. It only counts when you kill 2 at the same time. Killing only one bomber does nothing.
Step 5 (Lightning Rod Easter Egg Step): If you haven’t already, complete the main easter egg up until the Lightning Rod Defense. Only after defending the Lightning Rods you can continue with the Tesla Upgrade.
Step 6 (Defend Battery): Once the battery is powered up, pick it up (you’ll know it’s powered up because you can interact with it and pick it up).
Reaper Upgrade Complete: After successfully defending the battery, pick up the part from the machine. Now you can return to the Tesla Upgrade Station in the Command Center (Bunker) to build the upgraded Reaper Tesla Gun.
Those were all 4 Tesla Gun Upgrades in COD WW2. Now the hardest step for the main easter egg is done. For the full main easter egg, continue on with this guide: Call of Duty WW2: The Final Reich Easter Egg Guide.

Hi PowerPyx,
I was just wondering, when completing these variants for the Tesla Gun, do I need to complete the variants all in one game or can they all be done in 4 separate games?
Also, thank you for all your guides! They’ve helped me heaps.
Thanks,
Alpy
PowerPyx says
Hi Alpy, that’s a great question — I think (95% sure) it has to be in one game. At least that’s how it used to be for zombie trophies in past COD games. Going to do some more testing on this, I did them all in one run when the trophy popped.

Can only one person get the upgraded Tesla? I got mine but other player couldn’t do it..
PowerPyx says
Only one player can pick it up. That’s why there are 4 different variations, one for each player to build.
blackcrow963 says
You can actually charge the Stormraven battery by killing all 4 Wustlings at one time with the trap, although at lower waves it may only be possible to get 2 at a time. I haven’t tested it but I have a feeling you can also kill 4 Bombers at once for the Deathraven battery.

Hi PowerPyx! I just wanted to ask, we actually built all of the 4 tesla guns and i have one equipped on my character and yet, i didn’t got the trophy and when we got to finish the boss, still it didn’t gave us the Dark Reunion trophy as well. What is that?
PowerPyx says
That’s weird. When you do the Dark Reunion Easter Egg you are (normally) guaranteed to unlock the trophy for all 4 tesla guns (because without them you can’t complete the easter egg). It must be a glitch of some sort. Your best bet is to try again and have someone else host the match. It’s not normal that’s for sure.
