Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 All Weapons & Field Upgrades Locations

November 7, 2023 by PowerPyx 2 Comments

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023) has 121 Weapons & Field Upgrade Item Locations. Finding all of them unlocks the Gearhead trophy & achievement. They are found exclusively in “Open Combat Missions” during the Singleplayer Campaign. These are the missions with a skull icon in mission select, that show a tracker for “Weapons and Items Discovered”.

Only the Weapons & Items from orange Supply Boxes count. The weapons dropped by enemies aren’t required and can be ignored. The Supply Crate weapons get added to the Loadout Selection when collected, whereas enemy drops do not.

None of these collectibles are missable, you can use Mission Select to replay anything. There’s a tracker in Mission Select that shows how many Weapons/Items you found. You can check which ones you got by starting the mission and viewing the Loadout Selection screen. When opening the Map or Pause Menu during an Open Combat Missions it also shows the collectible counter, allowing you to keep track during the mission. Everything is saved instantly when you pick it up, no need to recollect it if you die. You don’t need to reach the next checkpoint either, once you have everything you can quit out of the mission and start the next one via mission select.

The most efficient method is to follow the below videos in real time – run the same path shown in the video. This way you can collect everything in about 40 minutes. It’s best to play through the campaign once and then collect everything after, so you already know the map layouts. Remember that only the 6 Open Combat Missions contain Weapons/Items, the other campaign missions don’t count towards the Gearhead trophy/achievement. The Plate Carrier Upgrades for “Bulletproof” and Armaments for “No Such Thing as Too Many” trophies/achievements are also shown in the videos. If you just want those other collectible types also refer to Plate Carrier Upgrades & Armament Locations.

Mission 2: Precious Cargo

  • 21 Weapons & Field Upgrades

Mission 3: Reactor

  • 29 Weapons & Field Upgrades

Mission 7: Crash Site

  • 10 Weapons & Field Upgrades

Mission 9: Oligarch

  • 21 Weapons & Field Upgrades

Mission 10: Highrise

  • 19 Weapons & Field Upgrades

Mission 12: Gora Dam

  • 21 Weapons & Field Upgrades

That’s all of the Open Combat Missions & Weapons / Field Upgrades in COD MW3.

I also collected all of them and didn’t get the trophy. I have played the campaign several times now and there is no weapon of field upgrade missing yet my trophy has not popped. I think I’ll follow the videos and just pick up every weapon as I come across the boxes. Very frustrating
