An overwhelming amount of trophies is tied to zombies – 38 of the trophies in the base game and if we count the DLC it’s 48 of 63 trophies tied to zombies (76% of all trophies is tied to zombies). They don’t look easy either, you have to survive 20 rounds in the starting areas on several maps. If you only have a pistol and one other bad weapon in a small space, this could be really tough. The silver trophies on each map seem to be the easter eggs. In total, there is mention of 4 zombie maps (with Classified DLC): IX, Voyage of Despair, Blood of the Dead, Classified.
That’s a lot of easter eggs and surviving till round 20 in starting areas. The gold trophy “Prestigious Award ” for prestiging 25 weapons in zombie mode will take a while and you’re going to have to play every weapon until it’s maxed out. Though hopefully, we can get most of these done along the way while doing the other zombies trophies to reduce the grind later on.
It’s going to be a very rare platinum for sure. There are very few trophies in Multiplayer. Winning 10 Blackouts may also take a lot of practice as it’s the new Battle Royale Mode. You must also unlock all characters in each mode. This could be time-consuming and very hard, depending on the exact requirements which we don’t know yet. The hardest things will be: 10 Blackout Wins, 5 Zombie Map Easter Eggs, surviving 20 rounds in starting area of each zombie map, unlocking all characters in all modes (which in past games had horrendous requirements in zombies).

I was not going to buy this game before but this has concreted my decision on not buying this half ar.sed excuse of a call of duty game. I hope this game bombs ?

I personally have lost faith and interest in Call of Duty after the Modern Warfare arc ended. I think it’s very valid to say that not having a single player is a bit questionable, as they are on a three developer rotation now.
In this lists defense, although I personally won’t be going for the platinum (if it reviews well I’ll play it on a backup account for fun), I think they did the right thing focusing on Zombies trophies. They are the place where the most teamwork is going to be present, seems the most fun and supported mode, and can to a degree substitute mission specific trophies in campaigns with level specific trophies instead.
If it was me, I would make a Call of Duty: Online and take an Overwatch / Fortnite approach to it. Don’t release a COD with an online this year, but instead keep Call of Duty: Online active and support the hell out of it, and update it constantly. I would then make a single-player story-based Call of Duty with a period theme every 2 or 3 years. Give it a campaign, single player or co-op challenge etc. Can make the quality better, the focus more tailored to single player and adds more potential for revenue streams for Activision. Idk.

The lack of singleplayer is a bummer for me too. That was the one good classic linear shooter campaign I could count on each year. I know people say it’s the same each year but the campaigns were always short and sweet, had different themes, and with the rumble controller effect just the most enjoyable shooter experience. But only a minority ever played the campaign (judging by trophy completion rate on those) so I can see why they take a risk and want to try a new approach. Still hope they bring campaigns with next COD, in recent years COD and BF have been the only good FPS campaigns. Will lose them sales from singleplayer gamers.

I pre ordered the mystery box edition I’m 4Sure getting the platinum, I have 36 platinums and This will be my 37th. I’m hyped. I’ve been a zombies fan since day one and now we’re getting the Most trophy’s ever dedicated To Zombies which is every zombie Easter egg hunters dream! Glad they’re making it challenging for players to get the platinum just like the last black ops. Whoever gets the platinum trophy is a Beast and Will be labeled an Experienced Gamer. That just means whoever has platinum you should definitely want them on Your Team. (:
PowerPyx says
I too like to see a challenging platinum for a change. This year has had too many easy plats that were purely time-consuming. BO4 will actually have some challenge and require teamwork. Will be hard at first but I’m sure as time goes by we’ll discover many tricks to make the Easter Eggs easier. For surviving 20 rounds in starting areas perhaps we can use Gobblegums to get all Perks and to Punch a weapon (if those are still in the game), that would make it less annoying.

@PowerPyx It’s not really related to this walkthrough at all, so apologies, but I would be interested to know what you think has been the most enjoyable platinum in the last few years of all the games you’ve covered? You’ve done a lot of great guides, and I presume your enjoyment in making them varies wildly…
I personally thought Resident Evil 7 also had a very good base list (DLC is a different story), it made you experience everything whilst providing a decent challenge yet not draining too much of your time. The difficulty and length, for me, were perfect (I went into Madhouse blind, which upped the challenge a bit, its piss easy now). For me, I also like a lot of miscellaneous stuff that’s level specific, so I think the Uncharted games normally have very fun lists.
My least favourite lists are do everyone 100%, because it just becomes a collect-athon. Looking at you, Spiderman and Ghost Recon.

Inspired somewhat by Luc’s comment.

This year my favorite platinum so far is God of War. I just love that franchise and what they did with the reboot.
Last year it would have been Horizon Zero Dawn.
And favorite platinum ever is Assassin’s Creed 2 because it’s the game that made me start doing guides on YouTube.

10 Blackout wins it’s a platinium roadblock
MohandGamer7 says
I had a though time to get the platinum in BO3 for over 2 months. But seeing BO4 is even a harder platinum, nope thank you I don’t need this platinum. Because I don’t have time now to keep trying to win in Blackout( I didn’t like it).
Jtnan3 says
Do any of the zombie maps require beating a boss? Been playing zombies since the beginning and in my opinion it makes the maps and trophies for frustrating. Playing for an hour and a half setting up to just die in 5 minutes from a boss in a tight map. WWII was ridiculous. I miss the days of just doing a bunch of steps and killing zombies.
PowerPyx says
I don’t know the answer yet but the silver trophies look like the regular zombie easter eggs with bosses at the end. Granted not each map may have a boss, we’ll find out in a few days.
