In Black Myth Wukong, the Journal acts as a 100% Completion Tracker. It lists all Yaoguai enemies and bosses you have encountered. Bosses are dividend into Chiefs for minibosses, and Kings for main bosses. Lesser Yaoguais are the other non-boss mobs. Completing all Journal portraits unlocks the Portraits Perfected trophy & achievement. You have to kill one of each enemy to make it count for the trophy (for them to appear in the journal it’s enough to walk past the enemy but have to kill them all for the trophy).
This guide lists the location of every single enemy that appears in the Journal. There are even more enemies that don’t appear in the Journal, those aren’t needed.
It’s recommended to play through the story first, then compare what you are missing. The order here is the same as in-game AFTER finishing the story (order will be different during the story).
You can fast travel between chapters at any time from Keeper’s Shrines. There’s still free-roam after the story. After the endboss you are put back in the Title Screen, here choose to Continue, it will spawn you before the final boss. You can still revisit all places from this point and clean up what you missed. Just don’t “Enter a New Cycle” in the Title Screen as this starts New Game+ and overwrites your save with no way back.
IMPORTANT: This page lists everything in the same order as the in-game journal AFTER finishing the story (after Chapter 6). The numbering of some entries changes throughout the story, especially for characters. Each chapter adds new entries which changes the order. It’s recommended to use this list after the story to compare against your Journal and clean up missing entries from there.

- Baw-Lang-lang – Chapter 5 > Field of Fire > Cooling Slope: This can only be reached after unlocking the Chapter 5 Secret Area. First, see How to Unlock Chapter 5 Secret Area. On the way to the secret area you will reach the Cooling Slope shrine automatically, it’s directly in front of the secret area entrance. From the Cooling Slope shrine, go through the frozen gate to the secret area (only possible after unlocking secret area), then in the big round area you will find this frog boss on the left side. This is BEFORE actually entering the “Bishui Cave” secret area. Alternatively, after beating the Chapter 5 Secret Area boss “Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast”, you will be teleported back outside and then the frog boss will be to your right.
- Son of Stones – Chapter 6 > Foothills > Verdant Path: After you unlock the spell to fly on a cloud, fly straight forward to the cliffs at the end of the area past the big lake. On the cliff sits a big monster, its head is glowing green which makes it easy to see from afar, it’s this boss.
- Poison Chief – Chapter 6 > Foothills > Verdant Path: After you unlock the spell to fly on a cloud, stay on the upper plateau and fly left until you reach a small pond area with a quadratic rock sitting on a meadow. Dismount the cloud and go near the rock, it’s a boss. Looks like a rock that throws poison balls after you go near it (initially just looks like a quadratic rock). This is on the left/west of the upper plateau, BEFORE flying down to the big lake area.
- Water-Wood Beast – Chapter 6 > Foothills > Verdant Path: After you unlock the spell to fly on a cloud, you find green hippos throughout the big lake at the bottom of the area. The regular version also gets logged as a chief. But the proper boss version is found in the back left corner of the lower lake area (the side from where you come from Verdant Path, not the far corner in the distance). Fly to the left/west of the area and you will see a disturbance in the water, the boss pops out of there.
- Jiao-Loong of Waves – Chapter 6 > Foothills > Verdant Path: After you unlock the spell to fly on a cloud, fly straight down from the cliffs to the pool in front of you (below cliffs). Dismount from the cloud and walk around this pool, the boss will jump out of the water. He’s not visible from afar, only appears from the water after you reach the pool’s surface.
- Lang-Baw-Baw – Chapter 6 > Foothills > Verdant Path: After you unlock the spell to fly on a cloud, fly down to the big lake in the lower area. Then fly to the back right corner (the corner closest to the cliff where you started, not the corner at other end of lake). This frog boss will spawn there. Looks like a brown area in corner of the lake. Dismount from the cloud to see the boss.
- Gold Armored Rhino – Chapter 6 > Foothills > Rhino Watch Slope: After you unlock the spell to fly on a cloud, stay on the upper plateau and fly right until you reach the edge of the area, looks like a brown area without trees. When you approach you automatically get a cutscene, this is one of the mandatory story bosses that you must defeat to collect all armor pieces, so can’t miss him. This is BEFORE flying down to the big lake area. It looks like a big rhino with gold armor on its back, has a lot of health.
- Cloudtreading Deer – Chapter 6 > Foothills > Deer Sight Forest: after unlocking the flying cloud, fly forward over the big lake and to the right, where you see red trees.
- Feng-Tail General – Chapter 6 > Foothills > Mantis-Catching Swamp: After you unlock the spell to fly on a cloud, you can find a big grasshopper jumping through the lake area. Fly to its head with the cloud, then dismount and press / to hold on to its feelers. You need enough stamina to keep holding on until it stops jumping, I had 350 stamina when I did it. After it stops jumping, hold onto it again to burn its feelers. For this you need high burn resistance and a lot of health. I had 765 health and over 50 burn resistance (you can visit Xu Dog at the Chapter 2 shrine “Cellar” to reset your Celestial Blessings and redistribute your Mind Cores to Burn Resistance & Health). You can also consume the medicine “Body-Cooling Powder” to increase burn resistance for a short duration. There is no actual boss fight here, it’s just a test that you have enough health & burn resistance to qualify for the remaining bosses.
- Emerald-Armed Mantis – Chapter 6 > Foothills > Mantis-Catching Swamp: After you unlock the spell to fly on a cloud, fly to the top left corner of the lower lake area. There is a big yellow tree. When you approach you get a cutscene that triggers this boss fight. If it doesn’t spawn, make sure you defeated the other 3 story bosses in the area for their mythical armor pieces (Gold Armored Rhino, Cloudtreading Deer, Feng-Tail General).
Yaoguai Kings
- Lingxuzi – Chapter 1 > Forest of the Wolves > Guanyin Temple: automatic story boss, can’t miss him.

With the Loong Scales in your inventory you will now be able to interact with the waterfall to enter the area with this hidden boss.
- Elder Jinchi – Chapter 1 > Ancient Guanyin Temple > Grand Chamber: To reach this area you must ring all 3 bells in Chapter 1 (behind the bosses Guangzhi, Guangmou, Whiteclad Noble). After ringing the 3rd bell you are automatically teleported to this secret area. See Bell Locations.

- Shigandang – Chapter 2 > In the same arena where you fought Stone Vanguard (previous boss), you must deliver all 6 Buddha’s Eyeballs to the big rock with faces on it. This will make the boss spawn. See Buddha’s Eyeballs Locations.
- Black Loong – Chapter 2 > Fright Cliff > Rockrest Flat: This requires the Loong Scales from Chapter 2. After you got them, go to Rockrest Flat, from the shrine turn right and go up the path to reach a waterfall. With the Loong Scales in your inventory you can now interact with the waterfall to enter the area with this hidden boss.
- Fuban – Chapter 2 > Secret: Kingdom of Sahi > Sandgate Pass: unlocked in Chapter 2 as part of the boar’s questline: 1) Fright Cliff > Rockrest Flat: from this shrine go straight and talk to the drunken boar / 2) Yellow Wind Formation > Windrest Bridge: from this shrine go straight across the bridge, then go left where houses are, then turn right into a courtyard, in a house in the left corner is a golden glowing keg, destroy it to get “Sobering Stone” key item / 3) return to the boar, give him the Sobering Stone, exhaust all dialogue / 4) Crouching Tiger Temple > Temple Entrance: from this shrine go upstairs and enter second path on right, talk to boar there, give him 1 Jade Lotus (you can buy it from the shrine store), exhaust all dialogues with the boar / 5) return to where you first met the boar at Rockrest Flat, his brother “Yellow-Robed Squire” will spawn there, defeat him / 6) follow the boar through the gate to reach Kingdom of Sahi, there defeat the Tiger Vanguard, then talk to the NPC standing on the cliff overlookin the desert. It will trigger a cutscene in which he summons the Fuban boss.
- Yellow Wind Sage – Chapter 2 > Crouching Tiger Temple > Cellar: From this shrine slide down the sand and go left into the tornado.
- Kang-Jin Loong – Chapter 3 > Snowhill Path > Mirrormere: unmissable story boss. From this shrine head straight ahead to the house on the frozen lake, this will spawn the boss.
- Kang-Jin Star – Chapter 3 > Pagoda Realm > Warding Temple: Follow the path through Warding Temple until you slide down a snowy slope, it will trigger this boss fight.
- Captain Wise-Voice – Chapter 3 > Pagoda Realm > Mani Wheel: unmissable story boss. Found directly after this shrine on the main path.
- Cyan Loong – Chapter 3 > Bitter Lake > Turtle Island: This requires the Loong Scales from Chapter 2. After you got them, go to Turtle Island. To the right of this shrine, go to the back right corner of the island to find a small dragon statue sitting at the edge. When approaching it you will get a cutscene and it transforms to a living dragon, he’s this boss. Only spawns if you have the Loong Scales in your inventory.
- Yellowbrow – Chapter 3 > New Thunderclap Temple > Mahavira Hall: Unmissable story boss, he’s the chapter 3 endboss.
- Violet Spider – Chapter 4 > Webbed Hollow > The Gathering Cave: Automatic story boss in Chapter 4 after this shrine, can’t miss it.
- Yellow Loong – Chapter 4 > Webbed Hollow > Relief of the Fallen Loong: This requires the Loong Scales from Chapter 2 AND you must have defeated the other 3 Loong bosses (Chapter 1: The Red Loong, Chapter 2: Black Loong, Chapter 3: Cyan Loong). Then the Yellow Loong will spawn to the right of the “Relief of the Fallen Loong” shrine. To get here, start at Webbed Hollow > Cliff of Oblivion, go down the broken hand and follow the path until you can drop down the left side to a hanging bridge. Go over it to reach a narrow wooden beam with slashing spider cocoons around it. Use Cloudstep to beam past the spider cocoons and walk over the wooden beam. At the other end you reach the hidden area “Relief of the Fallen Loong”.
- The Scorpionlord – Chapter 4 > Secret: Purple Cloud Mountain > Bounds of Deity’s Abode: Found after this shrine, looks like a scorpion on a rooftop drinking alcohol. When you approach he will talk to you. Then you have to destroy the kegs below him to make him angry and trigger the fight. Alternatively, if you fight Duskveil boss first, he will kill The Scorpionlord automatically and you get the journal entry regardless, but you’d miss out on the Gourd that Scorpionlord drops. Because of this it’s highly recommended to fight Scorpionlord before triggering Duskveil fight.
- The Duskveil – Chapter 4 > Secret: Purple Cloud Mountain > Cloudnest Peak: Found at the end of the secret Chapter 4 area.
- Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master – Chapter 4 > Temple of the Yellow Flower > Court of Illumination: Chapter 4 Endboss, can’t miss him.

- Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast – Chapter 5 > Bishui Cave > Corridor of Fire and Ice: Found at the end of the Chapter 5 Secret Area.
- Red Boy – Chapter 5 > Field of Fire > Fallen Furnace Crater: Directly after this shrine.
- Yaksha King – Chapter 5 > Field of Fire > Fallen Furnace Crater: After beating Red Boy boss.
- Giant Shigandang – Chapter 6 > Foothills > Verdant Path: After you unlock the spell to fly on a cloud, fly straight forward to the cliffs at the end of the area past the big lake. Behind where you fight the Son of Stones boss, keep flying to the end of the upper area until you reach the end. Then turn right to find a narrow canyon entrance to the right, follow this to the end to find this giant rock monster. It’s opposite the waterfall cave where you have to go for story purposes after collecting all 4 mythical armor pieces from the Chapter 6 bosses. Requires the 4 Skandha Collectibles. See Skandha Locations. After beating the boss walk up his arm to trigger a cutscene and get the 5th Skandha.
Characters
- Whiteclad Noble – Chapter 1 > Bamboo Grove > Marsh of White Mist: from the shrine go down the stairs to find this boss in the next area. Can’t miss him, he’s a main boss.
- Keeper of the Black Wind Mountain – Chapter 1 > Black Wind Cave > Bodhi Peak: automatically unlocked upon defeating the 4th main boss “Black Bear Guai”.
- Man-in-Stone – Fright Cliff > Squall Hideout: from the shrine, take the path to the right, go through the ravine that has a little bit of water in it. At the end of the ravine are some black thorns, interact with them, it’s actually a guy trapped in them. You have to give him the key item “Stone Essence” which is dropped by the “Mother of Stone” boss, she is found in the cave leading to the next shrine by hitting the 3 blue crystals (Rockrest Flat).
- Yellow-Robed Squire – Chapter 2 > unlocked in Chapter 2 as part of the boar’s questline: 1) Fright Cliff > Rockrest Flat: from this shrine go straight and talk to the drunken boar / 2) Yellow Wind Formation > Windrest Bridge: from this shrine go straight across the bridge, then go left where houses are, then turn right into a courtyard, in a house in the left corner is a golden glowing keg, destroy it to get “Sobering Stone” key item / 3) return to the boar, give him the Sobering Stone, exhaust all dialogue / 4) Crouching Tiger Temple > Temple Entrance: from this shrine go upstairs and enter second path on right, talk to boar there, give him 1 Jade Lotus (you can buy it from the shrine store), exhaust all dialogues with the boar / 5) return to where you first met the boar at Rockrest Flat, his brother “Yellow-Robed Squire” will spawn there, defeat him.
- Headless Monk – Chapter 2 > Crouching Tiger Temple > Temple Entrance: after defeating “Tiger Vanguard” boss, interact with the statue in the boss arena. It will trigger a cutscene where the blood drains from the arena and a hatch opens from the ground. Enter the hatch and drop down, follow the path through the cellar until you get a cutscene. You get this journal entry automatically after the cutscene.
- Bodhisattva Lingji of New Mount Sumeru – Chapter 2 > automatically unlocked during final cutscene of Chapter 2, after the main boss “Yellow Wind Sage”.
- Turtle General – Chapter 3 > Bitter Lake > North Shore of the Bitter Lake: From this shrine follow the shoreline straight ahead until you reach the end of the coast. There you will encounter the optional boss “Apramana Bat“, defeat it. Then on the left you can find a big skeleton, interact with it. This will trigger a cutscene with the big turtle island dropping a green tear. After this cutscene you receive the journal entry for Turtle General, which is the big turtle island (you can also collect the tear it dropped to get a Soak, which will be on the beach below the big Turtle’s head).
- The Fox – Chapter 3 > Unlocked in Journal after completing the Fox’s side questline in Chapter 3.
- Green-Capped Martialist – Chapter 3 > Unlocked in Journal after completing the Treasure Hunter’s side questline in Chapter 3.
- The Third Prince – Unlocked by completing the Prisoner Quest / Captain Spirits Quest in Chapter 3. He’s the NPC in the Prison Cell at Pagoda Realm > Lower Pagoda. You unlock his entry after collecting the 4 Captain Spirits and delivering them to him.
- The Keeper of the New West – Chapter 3 > Unlocked in journal after finishing Chapter 3.
- Zhu Bajie – Chapter 4 > Webbed Hollow > Hut of Immortality: Directly after this shrine you find this boss (unmissable main story boss). You fight him two times in a row, after the second fight you get this journal entry.
- Venom Daoist – Chapter 4 > defeated as part of reaching the Chapter 4 Secret Area. See How to Reach Chapter 4 Secret Area.
- Crane Immortal – Chapter 4 > Added to journal upon completing the 4 Purple Altars Quest in Chapter 4. After interacting with all 4 Altars, you will be attacked by Supreme Inspector. After this fight you get a cutscene with the Crane Immortal talking to you, this adds his entry to the journal. MISSABLE: This has to be done before completing Chapter 4 (before defeating main boss “Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master”). After Chapter 4 you can’t interact with the Purple Altars anymore. It can still be done in New Game+ if you missed it.
- Hong Yi – Chapter 4 > Automatically added to journal after completing Chapter 4 (after “Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master” boss).
- Keeper of the Flaming Mountain – Chapter 5 > Furnace Valley > The Emerald Hall: Automatic story-related main boss, found directly after this shrine.
- Ma Tianba – Chapter 5 > Furnace Valley > Valley Entrance (AFTER BEATING CHAPTER 5): From this shrine walk down the path, then enter the lava pool on the right. Go to the corner of the lava to find a stuck Element Cart surrounded by a bunch of enemies (the cart won’t attack you). Interact with the cart to pull a string. After pulling out the string you unlock this character entry. You can’t pull the string during Chapter 5. You have to beat Chapter 5 first, then come back here.
- Pale-Axe Stalwart – Chapter 5, for completing the Five Element Carts questline by the Pale-Axe Stalwart (Ox NPC). The journal entry gets added after beating the last cart and talking to the Pale-Axe Stalwart, then you can enter the secret Chapter 5 area.

- Chen Loong – Chapter 3 > unlocked by finishing Chen Loong questline.

- Xu Dog – Chapter 2 > Crouching Tiger Temple > Cellar > explore the area to the right of this altar and Xu Dog will climb out of a vase. If he isn’t there, make sure you defeated the boss “Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw” at Sandgate Village > Village Entrance and talked to him at the top of the stairs before this boss.
- The Old Monkey – Chapter 6 > Automatically added to journal at the end of the game at the end of Chapter 6. After reaching the final shrine in the game “Birthstone > Heart of Birthstone”.
- The Great Sage’s Broken Shell – New Game+ Exclusive > added to journal after starting New Game+. After beating the endboss, from the Title Screen choose “Enter a New Cycle”. Warning: Starting New Game+ will overwrite your existing save file! Make sure you cleaned up any remaining content before doing this. Once you start New Game+ there’s no way back.
- Maitreya – from Secret Ending
- Erlang the Sacred Divinity – from Secret Ending
- Yuan Shoucheng – Automatically added after getting all other Journal Entries (all Lesser Yaoguai, All Chiefs, Kings, Characters). He will be the last entry you unlock.
If you don’t get the Portraits Perfected trophy/achievement, double-check your journal that none of the entries show “???” question marks. Also make sure you definitely KILLED one of each enemy type. They register in Journal as soon as you go near them, but they only count towards the trophy after you kill them. If the trophy doesn’t unlock you are almost certainly missing one of the Lesser Yaoguai, meaning you ran past one enemy but didn’t kill it. In this case your best bet is to kill all Lesser Yaoguai again.

KDIPZ says
29~32 Maybe the Four Heavenly Kings
Ed says
Can’t find the ginsengling in chapter 1
PowerPyx says
Most of the buried plant-type enemies can be found across multiple chapters. Wouldn’t worry about it, almost all lesser Yaoguai are encountered automatically throughout the game at some point.
Akifini says
The Yaoguai Kings number 2 is “The Red Loong” a secret dragon boss in Chapter 1. He is behind the waterfall in the “Outside the Forest” checkpoint.
In order to get to him you need to find “Loong Scales” which are located in Chapter 2 in a hidden room that can be opened during the First Prince rat fight (after he eats his father). He needs to smash the wall with one of his attacks to open a path that you can take once you defeat the boss
ThiophenSJ says
It is also possible to smash this wall open yourself. I did it with the blue monk spirit, whose smashes his big head into the ground as attack.
Nemo says
Yaoguai Kings number 9 is The Black Loong. I’m assuming the same steps with the scales, because I had them when I found it. Found by going up the stairs from the Rockrest Flat shrine to the sand “waterfall.” Between this and the red one, maybe there is one Loong per chapter behind a waterfall?
Bene says
Did the list updated if found the missing things?
I looking for the character 7 and didnt find him after 3 hours…
Nikita says
Character 7 — Monkey Shen from first chapter. Bamboo Grove > Marsh of White Mist: from the shrine go down And then right.
PowerPyx says
He’s #26 in the full journal.
The order of entries changes throughout the story as more get added each chapter. He was already in the guide. It’s best to compare findings after the story, especially for characters as their order gets shuffled around a lot.
Deam says
You can get the Loong Scale in chapter 2 at the First Rat Prince Boss room behind a secret Room which you can destroy via boss or with the Wandering Wight Spell. When you have he Scale you can go to chapter 1 outside the Forest Area and go to the Waterfall to get to a secret Red Loong King, and you can go to chapter 2 behind the SandWaterfall to get to the Black Loong King Boss.
There is a NPC in chapter 3 northshore on the left side a dragonguy you can fight him and then give him a Medicine which you can get from Xu dog after defeating the Loong Bosses. After giving the Medicine to the Dragonguy he Teleports you to a Secret Place where you can fight the Ying Tiger for Entry and a new Curious Slot. So you can get 4 new entrys following these Tasks.
ThiophenSJ says
Yaoguai King Nr. 9 is the Black Loong. Using the Loong Scales items on the sand-waterfall (right side up from the altar „Frightcliff > Rockrest Flat“) gives access to this boss.
ThiophenSJ says
Nr. 15 is the Cyan Loong. In difference to the first two, this one is not in secret area behind a waterfall. He sits on the back right side of the turtle rock in chapter 3. I suppose having the Loong Scales in your inventory triggers the fight.
Luke says
Hi, for Chief 14, it’s Captain Lotus-Vision in Chapter 3.
Pagoda Realm – Upper Pagoda, just do a 180° from the Keeper Shrine and carefully drop down the chasm. He’s there
Flipz says
Yaoguai King #15 is Blue Loong. You can kill him right before or after (as you wish) Kang-Jin Star, just head to the right from the shrine and he’ll be on a lower platform. If you have Loong Scales, they’ll start talking to you when you’ll be not far from boss. He’s like a stone form and inactive until you come close. Probably without Loong Scales you won’t be able to fight him.
Gazuntai says
9) ??? – MISSING (Chapter 2?)
This Chief appears to be the Second Prince of the Flowing Sands. It looks like if you ignore him during his first fight and only kill the other guy you don’t get this journal entry. Hoping there’s another way to get him.
PowerPyx says
I’ll check it shortly. Sounds like can only get one or the other per playthrough, which would require New Game+ to get them both. All journal entries carry over into NG+.
fuzzb says
9. ??? – MISSING (Chapter 2?) is “Black Loong”, he is King;
14. ??? – MISSING (Chapter 2?) is “Captain Lotus-Vision”, he is Chief (from Upper Pagoda, just turn back and drop down, also dispels all purple barriers in front of the cells, so you can go to the locked cells from earlier – the first cell had a NPC).
Second Prince and King share same entry. If you kill the King, the Prince gets enraged. If you kill the Prince the King runs. Not sure if the King runs in both cases as after he got enraged, I didn’t finish him off.
Francesco says
Hi, the journal progress are carry in new game plus? Or it reset?
PowerPyx says
All carries over.
KoolKid says
#42 is Top Takes, Bottom Takes he’s a boss inside the secret area of the chapter. #46 is Baw-Lang-lang. Inside the area where you get teleported to the secret area he’s all the way to rhe left chilling.
Kasper says
The Censor Holder can be found by North Shore of the Bitter Lake – From this shrine follow the shoreline straight ahead until you see some skeletons of a snake, the Sensor Holder is sitting next to the third skeleton sticking out of the ground with an Apramana Bat sitting in front of it.
SpartanKing says
Yaoguai Chiefs:
#14: Old Ginseng Guai
Valley of Ecstasy->Towers of Karma.
Climb the little hill directly behind the shrine and go straight and you will see a barren soil patch with 5 Ginseng flowers. Pick them and one of them will pull out this Chief. (Also worth noting that the table behind the pillar here has the legendary Jade Essence drink)
#19: Monk from the Sea
New Thunderclap Temple->Temple Entrance
Go all the way to the right from this shrine and up the slope with the 3 stone carrying monks. You will then see a golden chest infront of a turtle statue being worshipped by zombies. Go to the door on the right then turn left into the outer courtyard and you will see a stone tablet lit up. The monk will spawn. You also get the Snow Veil transformation from beating him.
Gironepizza says
Censor holder is in Bitter lake –> Precept corridor. Do a 180° turn and go back from where you found the shrine and go right in an area where there is a wooden chest.

The one you’re missing for Kings is #26 Giant Shigandang, it’s a secret boss at the end of the Skandha quest line.
You need to have all four previous Skandha items in order for him to spawn.
Skandha of Form
Skandha of Feeling
Skandha of Thought
Skandha of Choice
Skandha Of Concisousness (You get from this final quest boss)

Teddy022 says
For some reason, I’m not getting Yuan Shoucheng. I beat Erlang and Wukong again unlocking the secret ending. In ng+ now and it’s showing 31/31
Kasper says
Do you have to do anything special with Xu Dog so that you get his entry?
4ipuxa says
So if you missed Journal Entry do you have to fully beat NG+ and enter NG++ to get the Yuan Shoucheng Character entry(anecdote)?
Bran says
Im very frustrated the Fungiwoman glitched for me. I have her spirit and everything but not her journal entry. Anyone else have this problem?
PowerPyx says
Journal is now 100% complete. Have fun 🙂
Dikachu says
For some reason, I missed out the Captain Void-Illusion entry, quite weird considering that it is story related
Dijito says
I’m missing Captain of the Court for some reason and it’s suppose to be story related. 89/90 and characters in 31/32
I’m in new game + chapter 5 so idk if I get a second chance when I hit chapter 6.
Jet says
Same here I ran past him I think at chapter 6 and being also now on NG, so how and where can I make the Captain of the Court respawn?
aNgRysHeEp says
Is’nt Ma Tianba not missable? If you miss Ma Tianba in one of the Chapters before, you can’t get his journal portrait. Or is it as well possible?
HanTwoo says
You can still missed Ma Tianba’s mission if you visit and pull the ropes of the broken cart in chapter 5 before you’ve exhausted all the dialogue. You have to interact with him in chapters 1,2,3, and 4 before you interact with the broken train. If you have interacted with the broken train, you cannot complete Ma Tianba’s mission and this will affect you if you want to go to the True Ending (fight with Erlang). If you have already done it, then you can only start a new journey again, because Ma Tianba will have disappeared if you visit it again.
aNgRysHeEp says
Thanks @HanTwoo
aNgRysHeEp says
@teampowerpyx
That to me means its a Ma Tianba is also a missable Journal.
And there is one more the Latern Warden. When you kill the boss Captain-Wise-Voice before them, you cannot get the Journal of the Latern Warden.

Please help me, has anyone experiencing the same problem as i did? i’ve done 3rd playthrough (for now ng+2) and i still can’t complete the Yaoguai Chiefs Portrait and Characters Portrait, for the character portrait, the only one that has not been unlocked yet was Yuan Soucheng, and as it explained above i have to complete all portrait before, so i made a new journey for this. After this, i checked that the only one portrait that has not been unlocked was Captain Wise-Voice from Yaoguai Chiefs. I’ve killed that boss 3 times, and completed all 9 Lantern Warden before kill the boss only at the 3rd playthrough. but the portrait still did’nt unlocked yet for that one. please have anyone encounter this problem and have the solution?
